  2. Yeah but he's bad in the field. So he can't play over Blanco and Miles in NL parks. I seriously think that Fox is going to force Lous hand, and Fontenot is going to help the cause.
  3. And Fontenot does what Fontenot does to end the inning. Go Fox!
  4. Will this be one of those we had the guy on the ropes but couldnt capitilize situations? Stay tuned.
  5. According to game day, 1 and 2 to Riot should have been strikes.
  6. Soriano is slowly but surely coming to life, but we have yet to see the mythical creature who can carry the team on his back for weeks at a time, not lately anyway.
  7. Fuku still has an OBP near .400 and we dont have anyone better to play CF. I wonder what Fontenot has to do to get benched. Have the Cubs sign a good player How about Hoff? If nothign else, it could be entertaining to watch him lumbering around the infield.
  8. Fuku still has an OBP near .400 and we dont have anyone better to play CF. I wonder what Fontenot has to do to get benched.
  9. Problem is, Bradley really hasnt been struggling lately. He hasnt lived up to expectaions, but hes been doing fine for himself.
  10. Same crap, different day. I guess winning is over rated. And theres got to be something with Bradley even if its only minor. No reason the bench him with the DH option available. Wither trying to break the bat over his knee or when he seemed to hurt his wrist on that dive in the outfield.
  11. Aaron Miles could very well be a solid 7 or 8 hitter on one of these teams.
  12. I see it as more along the lines of that perenial loser uncle, brother, or brother in law who stays on your couch and keeps borrowing money and swears up and down that hes about to land a great job or make a great investment and he'll finally be able to pay you back for all of the inconvenience hes caused you over the years.
  13. Armando Galarraga, prepare for the game of your life. Just let the Cubs keep loading the basea and they'll take care of themselves.
  14. Starting Pitching-no reason to touch it. If Randy Wells falters, or Harden needs DL time, then we have Sean Marshall eagerly waiting in the wings Z Lilly Demp Harden Wells Bullpen-Gregg stays as the closer. No other option. Could Sean Marshall be moved to the set up role, at least until Guz comes back? Sorry, but Marmol cant cut it anymore. He still has some of the best stuff in the league, but when he cant find the plate, and doesnt show signs of that changing, we cant risk bringing him into a crucial situation. As for the rest, thers not much we can do about it. We'll just have to hope for the best. Patton, Heilman, Ascanio, Hart Marmol Marshall Gregg Lineup-The obvious is to move Soriano down to 5 or 6. Try Theriot at leadoff. The guy gets on base, which is the job of the leadoff man. Unfortunately, we've learned that that isnt going to happen. Fox should be starting at 3rd until Aramis comes back, or he proves he cant cut it, which he has yet to do. The guys really putting the bat on the ball even when he gets out. Fontenot needs a platoon partner. Be it Freel, Blanco, or dare I say, Miles. It was a huge question mark whether hed be able to cut it as an everyday starter, and as of now, its leaning toward no. Id even go with Ryan Freel, who in his short prime was a prototypical small baller who can move the runner over. Maybe hes got a bit more in the tank. As for Fontenot, better starters have been benched indefinitely for lesser slumps. And I apologize for the mis use of the word slump, which usually suggests a good player going through a rough stretch. Theriot Freel Lee Bradley Soriano Soto Fox Fukudome P Not very left handed, I get it, but that wasnt a problem in 2008, at least until those last 3 games, and its very debateable if that would have made a difference. Bench When Reed gets back, just dispose of Miles one way or another. If some team is willing to pick up even a small part of his salary, great. If not, just let him go. Blanco and Fox have both done their part to help the team. Miles has not. Bigger salaries have been eaten before and for better players. Hoffpauir Reed Blanco Fontenot Hill
  15. It made me appreciate having a good team on the field.
  16. I wonder what Jose Macias is doing http://www.baseball-reference.com/minors/team.cgi?id=41150 Homeboy is raking!!! Meanwhile former Yankee/Red Ruben Rivera is putting up Pujolsian numbers-24 HR, 1.187 OPS, so I wouldnt put too much stock in those stats.
  17. Unfortunately, now that Reeds down theres nobody else who can play center, so were kind of stuck with him unless they want to chance Sam Fuld, So Taguchi, or someone else *cough*JimEdmonds*cough*
  18. I think so. Remember, he didnt just randomly slump, he came back from a major surgery, and he seems to be pulling it together. At the age of 24, theres a decent chance he makes it to Iowa at 1 point, even if it is only in September when the I Cubs are called up to the majors, and he'll probably start the 2010 season there as well.
  19. there is no reason not to see Fox as our everyday 3B until Ramirez comes back or he proves he cant do the job. We have yet to see this horrid offense everyone talks about. Yeah, he made that goofy play that a run scored on, but that ball could have just as easily made its way into the infield be it Fox, Ramirez, or Fontenot out there. He may have only got 1 hit, but he crushed to ball twice.
