  1. If we offer Seasn Marshall, were giving up too much. If we offer Kevin Hart or Mitch Atkins, its not enough. So wheres the in between? Hart or Atkins+ a few lower pitching prospects? That doesnt sound unreasonable.
  2. My lineup prediction CF Fuku 2B Fontenot RF Bradley 1B Lee C Soto' LF Hoff 3B Fox SS Blanco
  3. His thing is hes a finesser. Hes not going to blow anyone away with his stuff, but as long as he hits his spots hes OK. With those types of pitchers, unless its a Greg Maddux, when watching them, they dont look that impessive until you see their end line.
  4. I know we all love Dero, but the fact is, hes not going to net top prospects. If youre going to give up top prospects for a rental, it better be a Matt Holliday or Cliff Lee type. The Mets and Cards are supposedly the most intested, and neither of those teams have great piching as it is, so I cant see them giving up much in terms of that.
  5. A. Whose James Russell? 23 is way too young for an I Cub. B. I had no idea Justin Berg was still with the organization. A. Russell was a 14th rounder in 2007 out of Texas who got over-slot money. Somewhat interesting guy but he's struggled as a starter at AA. B. Berg is on the 40-man roster. Berg is only 25 too. I would have thought he was near 30 by now.
  6. That is a damn impressive list, and Im glad to see the guy who we didnt want Hendry to sign in '07 up there with the rest of those guys.
  7. I was listening to the Score this morning, and they were talking about Reed having back soreness and they didnt know how serious it was. It has been his main issue throughout his career. I was wondering why they didnt have the lefty killer in yesterday vs. not only a lefty, but a bad lefty. I figured they were hoping that Kosuke would build on his Saturday game. So if Reed needs to be DLd, Im assuming that Freel takes his place, ot the only other options are Taguchi and Fuld. Again, too bad about Brad Snyder.
  8. We should expect at least somewhat of a forefeit lineup. I remember yesterday they were talking about Lou wanting to give Soriano and Theriot a night off, with Hoff starting in left. Hopefully Fox gets another start at 3rd.
  9. We were scheduled to face Jair Jurrjens, so I'll take it. Hopefully, we face the same "Silent Assasin" that was booted from the D Backs and Wtite Sox. As I recall, last time we were scheduled to face Jurrjens last year, he fell down the clubhouse stairs or something and we faced a spot starter.
  10. Of course we could try to build a deal around Mike Fontenot and some pitching prospects and make Orlando Hudson a top target for the offseason, and if we cant get him, go with DeRo again. Of course if we cant get either during the off season, were stuck with Aaron Miles as our 2B for '10.
  11. A. Whose James Russell? 23 is way too young for an I Cub. B. I had no idea Justin Berg was still with the organization.
  12. Just don't trade LVb to the central...talk about Cub killer Im already having nightmares about him in a Cardinals uni.
  13. Right about now, Id offer Marshall straight up for DeRosa. DeRosa is on the last year of his deal, and Marshall is the number 2 guy on an Indians staff, or 3 depending on if Fausto ever returns to form. No point in giving up too much for a rent a player.
  14. Fox really hasnt looked that bad on the field, and while he hasnt been bombing the ball, hes had some loud outs. No reason not to start him more, especially considering the other options. and can we please rescue DeRosa from this dreadfull team?
  15. Id like to see 3 score this inning so the W is in Randy hands and only he and his arch nemesis, the bullpen can be to blame if he doesnt get it.
  16. I could have swore I heard in March that the Royals were supposed to contend this year. I don't know why since they've gotten destroyed this week. Because in the end, they're still the Royals. And they're still not very good. yeah, it's kind of annoying that the cards' natural rival is a small-market perennial doormat. Do they even think of themselves as rivals? The Cards have always been pretty good for the most part, and the Royals have been garbage, at least during the time of interleague play.
  17. Hes been at the core of the rallies the past 2 games, so he gets a pass here.
  18. Brewers just lost but the Cards just tatooed the lowly Royals and they're up 8-4 in the 4th.
  19. Guy isn't even at 50 pitches yet He aint looking good though. Len and Bob say that hes a 5 inning max guy, and has once gone 6. I guess that means he'll go at least 8 though.
  20. Well, you hope for more, but you take what you can get. On the bright side, we should have about 4 innings vs. that awesome Indians bullpen.
  21. This would be an awesome time for Fox to hit his first major league bomb. Id really prfer this not be a fake rally.
  22. Oh I agree completely that they'd be willing to deal him for the right package. The right package isn't likely to be fringe major league castoffs or old, expensive vets, though. Plus, if the assumption is that the Royals will try to contend (a reasonable assumption), then Cruz and Mahay will be important pieces to their pen. DeRosa is on the trade block because he's a valuable piece to a team - one that teams will be willing to pay good value for. Teahen is the same way. I think the Royals would be fine with keeping him or dealing him, but they have no immediate need to trade him, so he's not going to come dirt cheap. I think we agree that if the right package comes along, they would trade him. My problem with so many posters is that any package of Cubs' prospects is immediately labeled "garbage". As I have tried to point out (and seconded by Davearm) is that you never know what another GM is thinking or seeking. I'm not saying that our prospects are garbage, or at least not meaning too. I just think that we are going to have to give up some of the better ones in order to get a decent return. Some posters were suggesting that the Royals would just give us Teahan. That's not gonna happen. Dayton Moore's no fool. Problem is, Teahen really isnt worth a Jay Jackson or Josh Vitters. Jake Fox could be a good guy to base a deal around, but they'll want more. Even is we packaged Fox with someone like Hart, and threw in a few of our decent AA or below guys, thats not garbage. Guys like Barney, Flaherty, and Burke are in their early 20's and could generate some interest. Nobodys suggesting we offer Doug Deeds and So Taguchi and expect not to get lauged at.
  23. I wonder if Lou killed him yesterday. Probably. I really dont see Hart as being the right choice. Hes always been pretty bad at the big league level, and in the minors, hes been brutal as a reliever, but pretty solid as a starter. Stevens may have been the better choice. Maybe even Blake Parker.
