  1. Sam Fuld. Seriosuly though, theres still a decent chance that Soriano will take the last fan voted outfield spot. His competition is Beltran whose on the DL.
  2. All I know is with Guz coming back, Id prefer either Shark or Hart over Patton. I know its not saying much, but its time to put the experiment to an end.
  3. Why dont we just rest a few guys here for tomorrow? Take out Lee and Bradley for Hoffpauir and Fuld and Soto for Hill.
  4. The incredibly arrogant Cubs front office is trying to prove that their scouts found a hidden gem, no matter how [expletive] he looks in every damn appearance. Im thinkign that this may be the end of the line. With Guzman coming back, there will be e decision to be made. If Fossum does OK, we could use him a as a loogy, and Marshall can be used as a full or multi inning guy.
  5. Weve got to lead the league in inning ending double plays by now.
  6. I wonder if the Dodgers, who are looking for starting pitching would do Rich Harden and Mike Fontenot for Orlando Hudson.
  7. I wasnt expecting a sweep, but I do still expect to take the series. I guess I can go out and enjoy the 4th of July.
  8. I think we can just turn this off and hope to see Marshall on the mound in 5 days.
  9. Whatever, when you have the achilles heel of your rotation, you cant expect a win. Hopefully, we get good Lilly tomorrow and take the series.
  10. Looper: Just walk the bases loaded and the Cubs will work you out of the inning.
  11. Can we just accept that Harden is not a good pitcher unless hes facing a bad team?
  12. Maybe its time to give Hardens rotation spot to Marshall.
  13. Im not for break even moves. If you're going to make a move, make it count or dont do it. Maybe this guy will help the I Cubs or the Smokies,Thanks for playing though.
  14. Fuld hasn't been a particularly good minor leaguer throughout his entire career. Two ML games and a couple of weeks in the minors isn't going to change that. Fuld had a .758 OPS in AAA this year - even if he converted that perfectly to the majors he'd be mediocre. The likelihood is that .758 OPS will drop further. There's simply no good evidence that Fuld can be a quality major leaguer. And if Soriano is hitting well, he scores lots of runs. That's what you want your leadoff man to do, is it not? You also want your best hitters toward the top of the lineup because the higher in the lineup they are, the more at bats they get and the more productive they are. Why then, if Soriano is producing like he's capable of, would you drop him down in the lineup and take away 100+ ABs that he could be incredibly productive in? Fuld has a career minor league line of .287/.370/.409 which is good for a leadoff guy. A leadoff hitter doesnt need to slug .500 or OPS .850
  15. < 1 hour until game time and no lineups? WTH?
  16. If it comes to the playoffs, he will not be pitched to, and Mark DeRosa, Ryan Ludwuick, and Rick Ankiel arent going to change that.
  17. Hey, let's watch the name calling here !! I have it on good authority that Keener's parents are legally married. Yup they are.....twice! Now you figure that one out for yourself..... I've known a couple of couples that did that !! Not main stream by any means. Mom Catholic, Dad Jewish and they had 2 seperate ceremonies to appease their families? Thats what we did anyway.
  18. So Im guessing that Fuld goes to center with Kosuke to RF and Bradley on the bench where he belongs. So Sam Fuld is everyone's new flavor of the month. Lets wait a little bit till we enshrine him into the HOF. If you want this conversation to keep running in circles, then yes. He is the "flavor of the month", and we should at least give him a chance to see how far he can take it as we did with Scales and Fox before him. Weve gotten nothing out of leadoff for the past few months, and you know whats better than nothing? Anything. Therefore, if Fuld can give us anything out of leadoff, hes an upgrade over what weve gotten lately. Nobodys saying hes the savior. Nobodys sending him to Cooperstown.
  19. I was just adding that he was DFAd and it wasnt worth its own thread. Herges is the guy Id really like to get. We have too many guys in the pen that Lou refuses to to go to in any kind of close situation. with Herges, Marshall, Guz, Marmol, and Gregg, we could have a very solid pen. Even Heilman would be a decent #6 guy in the pen. You said you would give them BOTH a look, that has nothing to do with their own thread or whatever. But yea Herges adds more value than Patton, Hart, and even Shark right now. Heilman looks to maybe just maybe finally be getting command of his pitches. If he can do that, Heilman-Guz-Marmol-Gregg can be a very good backend of the pen. I said give him a look. He was decent last year, and I remember the Cubs were talking about trading for him either last season or this past off season. And as for Heilman, yeah, he was as good as weve seen him yesterday, but need I remind you of Thursday when he was at his worst? I was listening on the radio, and he literally almost made Ron cry when we had a 5 run lead.
  20. I think Lou is rearranging the lineup because Soriano is not producing, not because Fuld has to be in it. If they do DL one of Bradley or Soriano, I have no problem with keeping Fuld on the roster for that period of time. Otherwise, he shouldn't take the roster spot of a better player. I agree with this, but even then I want to see Hoffpauir playing instead of Fuld. As long as Fuld is hitting well he can play but Hoff is definitely the better option over a significant period of time. But assuming that Lee, Aramis, Soriano, Soto, and Fukudome are all doing there job, Id rather have more of a traditional leadoff guy in the leadoff spot, and assuming that Fuld can do what hes done in his short time in the majors, and the past few weeks in Iowa, thats what he is. If you're going to go with Hoffpauir, may as well just stick with Bradley. Lineup A. Fuld CF Theriot SS Lee 1B Ramirez 3B Soriano LF Fukudome RF Soto C Fontenot/Baker 2B Lineup B Theriot SS Fukudome CF Lee 1B Ramirez 3B Hoff/Bradley RF Soriano LF Soto C Font/Baker 2B
