  1. The Marlins seem to have a fairly light schedule too. Rockies-3 games Cardinals-3 games Phillies-6 games Braves-10 games they also have a bunch of games vs. the Mets which could be good or bad depending on what state the Mets are in at the time.
  2. 1B-Derrek Lee 2B-free agent/Ryan Theriot SS-Ryan Theriot/free agent 3B-Aramis Ramirez LF-Soriano CF-Kosuke RF-Milton Bradley C-Soto SP-Z SP-Lilly SP-Demp SP-Harden/free agent SP-Wells swing-Gorz BP-Marshall BP-Marmol BP-Guzman BP-2 of Stevens/Gaub/Grabow/Blake Parker/Justin Berg/free agent CL-free agent(Jose Valverde)/Gregg backup C-Koyie Hill/Chris Robinson/Steve Clevenger bench-Jake Fox bench-Mike Fontenot bench-Brad Snyder/Sam Fuld/Micah Hoffpauir bench-Andres Blanco -Let Aaron Miles go. Offer arby to Harden. if he takes it, great, if not, take the picks and get another front end starter. -Our main aquisition should be a middle infielder by trade or free agency. -I would like to go for Valverde as a closer, but if hes too expensive, I guess we could live with Gregg. Im not quite sure how much money we have left over, but if we were to sign a middle infielder+Valverde to close, I think wed be in good shape, and if it turns out we need another bench guy that bad, then pick someone off the scrap heap.
  3. It was looking stupid when it was started OPS or not, does he provide a SPARK?
  4. Im not all out conceeding the division here, but the Cards do have a very good team and a very easy schedule ahead of them. Both the Rockies and Giants, however do not have such easy schedules ahead of them. While they arent the only other teams in that race they are the top competiton. Of their ramaining schedules, not only do they play eachother 10 more times, but they also have: Giants Rockies 10 games Dodgers-9 games Phillies-3 games Cubs-4 games Mets-4 games(they could be good if healthy) Rockies: Giants-10 games Dodgers-6 games Cards-3 games Marlins-3 games Mets-3 games(again, if healthy) Of course, the Marlins, Braves, Brewers, and Astros should still be considered when looking at the WC race, but as far asbthe top 3 teams in the race, we have the easiest road ahead, unless of course our players decide to keep dropping like mets. I mean flies.
  5. Cubs as a team have nothing today. Hopefully we can take the split tomorrow. I think its Gorz vs. DeLaRosa, who has an ERA in the 5s, so hopefully Gorz can give us a repeat performance and we can touvh up their guy.
  6. Snyder would definitely be battling Hoffpauir for a roster spot if he were to come back to the Cubs next year. I dont know much about his defense, but if its solid, I wouldnt mind him as a 4th or 5th outfielder.
  7. No surprise there. I'm guessing at least a week off. Just a guess... Unfortunately the Cubs can't afford to give him a week off Definitely not vs. the Phillies.
  8. I suppose if he calls it quits now, he may enter the HOF along with Maddux and Glavine.
  9. Born: Feb 18, 1981 - Coffee, AL Alabama is certainly not a hispanic country. Its a hispanic name, and thats good enough for Omar.
  10. So basically, whoever claimed him has to take him and his contract if the Jays choose? I could see it being the Mets, Tigers, Giants, Yankees, or Red Sox.
  11. Then Im going on record as saying that Aaron Miles hits 3 home runs, 2 doubles, 4 triples, and 15 RBI vs. the Rockies, and Jeff Samardzjia pitches a perfect inning. Oh come on.....Shark could NEVER pitch a perfect inning I think Miles hit a double that one time And then there was that one batting practice pitch that he almost hit out of the infield when the normal BP pitcher had to take a crap and the groundskeeper took his place.
  12. This definitely hasnt been his year, with his .193/.332/.364 line, but it would be hard to argue with picking him up as a bat off the bench. Maybe we could get an Edmondsesque resurgence out of him for a few months. Hes a lefty, and thats what matters, at least to Lou. In what world is it hard to argue against carrying a DH that can't hit as one of our 5 offensive bench players? In the world that Septembers just around the corner.
  13. They actually say he should be back in a few weeks, but that doesnt mean he'll stay off the DL for any leangth of time.

  16. With everyone performing at the top of their game Id want: Fukudome Theriot Lee Ramirez Soriano Bradley Soto Fontenot P
  17. Decent pickup for the Twins I guess. Maybe the Metrodome is what he needs.
  18. Haha 6'4" 150lbs Too late, our Geovany Soto already ate him.
  19. I dont blame Miles at all for the contract. Thats all Hendry. If someone offered you a guaranteed 5 million dollars to do a job you werent very good at would you say no? If we didnt have a quality 4th middle infielder, and Miles was signed for minimum at the end of ST, that would be one thing, but Hendry jumped all over him like he was some kind of off season prize, just a month before other teams started getting guys like Abreu, Dunn, and Hudson for bargain basement prices. I blame Miles for sucking at baseball. I blame Hendry for sucking at GMing.
  20. that would be just plain silly. not only does he play multiple positions, but hes a switch hitter. who in their right mind would give up such a player* is green text really necessary here?
  21. I think Id do the deal. Fox and Lee are the only guys Id miss, and Baltimore would be a much better place for Fox, where he could get a lot more PT as a DH or at 1B. As for Lee, I like him, but we also have 2 more nice SS prospects in Castro and LaMehieu. Maybe its expolred again at the waiver deadline, maybe not. I cant see too many teams with worse records than the Cubs risking claiming him due to his salary. The 1 that might would be the Mets.
  22. Casey Lambert to AAA. Why Lambert over Coleman? I suppose it depends on whether they want a starter or reielver, lefty or righty.
  23. How about a guy whose not on the 40 man? Say The Royals waive Juan Cruz and he makes it through. If we were to trade, say So Taguchi and John Ford Griffin(I know it wouldnt happen, just the 1st 2 names that popped into my head), since neither are on the 40 man, could we just go ahead and make the deal?
  24. I hear that Adolph Hitler, Osama Bin Laden, and Satan have formed a partnership to buy Aaron Miles page.
