  1. I remember Norris Hopper was one of those guys we just couldnt get out when he was with the Reds a few years back.
  2. Has Aaron Miles achieved a higher level of hatred amongst Cubs fans as Corey Patterson, Bob Howry, and Latroy Hawkins?
  3. The say the Cardinals put a claim on Miles, and we give it to them, do they then have to take him and his salary or can they pull out of it?
  4. So a team puts the player through waivers. At that point, either a team claims them, and the first team can either pull him off waivers or make a deal with that team. If he makes it through waivers, he can be traded to any team. This much I think I have down. My question is, once that waiver claim is made, or the player makes it through waivers, can another team trade any player for him, or does it have to be someone not on the 40 man roster, or what?
  5. I wonder if Guzman will ever be a starter again.
  6. Theres a more audible version of the incident up at Yahoo, and it really makes Fielder look like a moron. He keeps saying he has to take care of his biness. He has about 10 other guys with him including Ken Macha. It looks more like they were trying to stop him the instigate though. He really should get some kind of suspension. I suppose it would have been more ammusing if they had to taze him though.
  7. Rushed or not, we have enough quality relievers in Iowa that we should be using them instead of Shark. If Shark has a future with this team, its as a starter, so they should be bringing him up as such. Jeff Stevens, John Gaub, Blake Parker, and Justin Berg should all be given a shot at the final spot in the pen.
  8. This is the part of the OP that intrigues me. By all accounts, TLR despises the Cubs and everything they stand for, and I shudder to think of him in a Cubs uniform, and I dont think hed ever want to wear one. On the other hand, TLR seems like the kind of arrogent prick who could take the job, on the off chance that the Cubs dont win the WS this year just so he could say that he was the one to finally take the Cubs there and say screw you, your welcome.
  9. Well that was worthless. So I take it hes signed by the Cards and developes a 105 MPH fast ball. OMG, every player who's ever played for the Cardinals has turned to GOLD! The Cardinals are the luckiest team in baseball. Cardinals, yeah! You do realize that my post was inteneded to be just as sarcastic as your response to said post. Obviously, when he signs with the Cards he'll throw 102 MPH tops.
  10. All good points until the end. No one called you the 'D word'. i thought it was pretty clear he was implying it when he said this- He was refering to this
  11. If you haven't noticed when Miles is on the 25man roster he magically seems to play a lot. I don't think you'll have to worry about that too much anymore. Miles was getting benched before he hit the DL. And now the Cubs have Baker to fill the platoon role Miles was trying to fill at 2nd and Fox to backup Ramirez at 3rd. So unless Theriot gets hurt more seriously, Miles will probably only see 1-2 starts for the rest of the month. Thats 1-2 starts too many. If only Andres Blanco hadnt suffered that fake calf injury.
  12. I suppose the 1 good thing about having Miles around is that hes the one thing that everyone on this board agrees on. We have a lot of people with a lot of opinions on pretty much every player to ever wear a Cubs uni, but we can all agree that Aaron Miles is a horrific waste of space and money and has no business playing major league baseball. We need to turn this into a Miles photshop thread. Id get the ball rolling, only I dont really know how to use photshop.
  13. Like a player needing to be released......... in other words, he picked up where he left off.
  14. We have these guys who seem to do this on a regular basis, meanwhile, we have Samardzjia taking up a bullpen spot while he should be in Iowa working on his stuff.
  15. Seriously, Ryan Freel served the exact same purpose as Miles. The diffence is, while Miles sucks offenseively and defensively in the infield, Freel sucks offensively and plays a pretty decent infield and outfield. Also Freel can run and seemed to have intensity thats not found anywhere in Miles.
  16. I guess Lehr can talk about this game with his shift boss at the Home Depot this time next year.
  17. That wasnt embarassing or anything. Did any of these guys bother watching any tape on this guy?
  18. This is about to be the most embarassing game of the season. Hopefully, they can make up for it vs. the Rox and Phils.
  19. He went to Notre Dame, and thats all that matters to Hendry. Who cares that Stevens, Gaub, Parker, Berg, and whole host of other guys would be better options.
  20. Brad Snyders back with Iowa and 1-2.
  21. This may not be the worse game of the season, but its sure shaping up to be the most pathetic.
  22. He throws *really* hard and he's an athlete. What more do you want? 2 words: Kyle Farnsworth.
  23. In a perfect world, Samrdzia and Miles would both be back in Iowa where they belong. How hoard would it be to just DFA Miles and keep Stevens instead of Shark?
  24. Just put Fox at short stop. Sure, he may kill us with his defense, but Miles kills us with defense and offense.
