    Now that Wright and Beltran are back, the Mets have been hitting a bit. Obviously, its way too little too late, as they're officially eliminated in both the division and Wild Card, but Pedro has been nothing but solid since he came to the Phillies.

    You will when he puts together another nice year and a half and is promptly traded for prospects.

    I dont know if Chone Figgins can play 2nd, but if we could get him for a reasonable 3 year deal, hed be great. Problem is, he'll be 32 on opening day, and with a player like Figgins, once his legs start to go, hes pretty much Aaron Miles, and knowing the Cubs, hed tear a quad by May at the latest. At least Soriano has power to fall back on(which hopefully returns next year) now that his legs are basically toast. Or else, does Milton Bradley, Sean Marshall, Jeff Samardjzia plus a few prospects for Curtis Granderson sound fair?

    Cubs Kosuke CF Bradley RF Lee 1B Ramirez 3B Hoffpauir LF Baker 2B Hill C Blanco SS Lilly P Just as Geo starts to swing the bat, he gets the bench. It does make one wonder that since weve beem seeing alot more of Blanco than Miles that Miles may well be dumped in the off season. Good ridence to bad rubbish. Reds Stubbs Janish Votto Phillips Rolen Gomes McDonald Hanigan Homer Bailey, whose smart enough to know his career will last much longer if he waits until Dustys gone to have a breakout season.

    The Cubs would have to get more than prospects back for Z. This team is set-up to compete now and trading major parts doesn't seem to make much sense. You never know with new ownership. I think this team showed this year it's not set up to "compete". And is being set up to "compete" the goal? I think it should be set up to win the World Series. And this group isn't going to do it. I would get that list of Z's approved teams and start fielding offers. I disagree. I feel that this team is definitely set up to compete, at least for the short term. Despite what Matt Holiday has said, the experts feel strongly that he wont be back in St. Louis, and even if we get this same Cubs team with a few minor tweaks, we'll be back to being the favorites in the division, maybe the NL. I cant see the Brewers aquiring the pitching it would take to pull themsoeves up, and even if they do, there probably planning a rebuild. The Cardinals will ptobably be competitve, but I cant see them having another monste stretch like they had this year. I would strongly suggest against shedding any key players unless something very good is coming back in return. Besides, even if Jim Hendry does get another chance in 2010, you better believe he'll be on thin ice and wont want to do anything stupid.

    Maybe if we offer Duncans 2 no talent kids jobs as base or bench coaches we could get Dave and Tony on board.

    Didnt Z once give a list of teams other than the Cubs hes want to play for? The White Sox, Cardinals, Red Sox, Yankess, and maybe a few more. Obviously, White Sox or Cards would never happen, but Yankees or Red Sox could be interesting. Im not saying I want to railroad Z out of town, espcially with all the questions surrounding the future of this team, but if the Yanks or Red Sox were interested, they both have some enticing prospects.

    Im back to thenew forum, but for some reason, while I can still log into the message boards, Icant log into the new community forum, and I have to keep resetting my password.

    The default is the old style board. Read back in the thread on how to change the board style to "Nexus". Oh, so I guess I'm lazy. Sorry. I cant find said instructions. Link? 1) go to the user control panel 2) look for the tab/link called "board preferences" 3) there will be an option there to change "my board style" or something similar Cheers. I think Im digging the Nexus. It has the affordability of a Nissan with the style of a Lexus.

    definitely looks like the pen will be getting some work in today.

    As a Cub Harden has essentially averaged 1-1.5 fewer outs per start than his fellow starters. For the most part, hes great, but he always seems to have that 1 inning early in the game where he racks up a ton of pitches, and thats kind of scary for a guy with his injury history.

    Despite the new look to the board, its good to see that that doesnt stop Rich Harden from his usual early game shenannigans. As good as his stuff is, it makes me wonder if its a good idea to sign a guy long term whose going to limit himself to 5-6 innings per game due to his pitch count.

    I forgot all about those... and I have a couple. Im logged into the message board just fine, but the main page has a lof in form, and whenever I try to log in, it doesnt work. Am I doing it wrong or is it just not fully up yet? 1) Are you getting the new design at http://www.northsidebaseball.com? 2) what the heck does this mean, "the main page has a lof in form" 3) I just disabled the bridge a little while ago so that the 1pm announcement can be seen by all. Once the bridge is back up and running, you'll have to visit the forum, then go to the main site and it will "drag" your username with you and install it on the front page. 1) yes 2) sorry log in 3) thanks -on the community forum, it has a list of the registered suers, and I noticed my name wasnt on it, but maybe you just dont see your own name.
