  1. That's kinda weird. figure of speech. I dont have that many non Cubs fans anyway. 2 friedns that are Sox fans, and a bunch of Brewer fan friends from college, but they really have nothing to say about anything.
  2. You must have only been a Cubs fan since last November then. May 1972 when I took my first breath. At least that team last year actually made the playoffs before crapping themselves. There are so many better examples than 2008 or 2009. 2005/2006 come to mind as obvious examples. But the vast majority of the 90's fits in there as well. Not to mention both follow up seasons to the two 80's bright spots. At least this year they are probably going to finish above .500 and be in a position to contend next year with some moves. There was almost no reason to follow the Cubs from 1990-1997. The most noteworthy things from those teams was they made Ryno the highest paid player in baseball for about a week, Ryno quit, Ryno came back and then he sucked and quit again. Since 98 they've been pouring money into the team every year and providing hope, and some more meaningful bright spots. But pre-98 was abysmal. Most of the 80's-90's, we were bad and we knew it. Cubs fans were still Cubs fans, but we didnt have the expectations. We were in baseball hell as far as championship droughts, but we had company with the Red Sox and White Sox. I wans t embarassed back then. I watched the game to watch the game. If they won, great, if not oh well. The past few years, weve had a big pay roll and teams built to win. You cant deny, as Cubs fans, we were pretty damn cocky last year, and then that happened. I didnt want to look any of my non Cub fan friends in the eye for weeks.
  3. You must have only been a Cubs fan since last November then. May 1972 when I took my first breath. At least that team last year actually made the playoffs before crapping themselves. As far as sheer embarasment, there have been many moments, but I cant think of any as bad as the 2008 playoffs, especially since it followed the 2007 playoffs 2008 was probably the best year we will ever have. A lot of Cubs fans were born and died without seeing a team that was as good as our team was last year. If you want to let 3 games ruin that. Well, that's on you. It was an amazing season, and will probably never be duplicated in our lifetime, which is what made it all the more embarasing when they fell flat on their face. Believe me, I enjoyed every moment of that season, but that made in sting even worse when October happened.

  6. 2 questions: Whats the babys name and can he/she play left field, becasue he/she cant be any worse than Soriano.
  7. That ought to quell any dilusions of the Cubs sneaking there way into the wild card. I cant wit to go 2-4 on a road trip vs. the Mets and Pirates. This team is just not good, plain and simple, and its creater should be dismissed.
  8. At least you wouldnt be doing the team any harm striking out in key situations and making idiotic errors.
  9. 2 more innings to score 3 runs, but thats probably way too much to ask for.
  10. At least the Tigers just beat the Indians, so these guys have no ground to gain.
  11. Time to tip our caps to Carlos Torres, and of course to Jim Hendry for making this all possible.
  12. you have to try really hard to be as bad as Soriano, and he makes it look so easy.
  13. Good job Jake. Too bad the circus of ineptitide is about to strand you at 2nd.
  14. I suppose if Mrs. Lee could have hung on 1 more day, wed be tied 0-0.
  15. My prediction is looking awfullly good right now I wouldnt hold my breath waiting for that run.
  16. This guys going to pitch a complete game shut out, isnt he? And then he'll probably give up 7 ER in 3 inings vs the A's next week.
  17. Just score some runs to over paid sad sacks.
  18. I bet Carlos Torres' is feeling real good right about now.
  19. Its a good thing they were smart enough to get rid of Gerald Perry when they did. This offense would have NEVER got back on track without Von JOshua.
  20. So were really going to get shut by this guy, huh? [expletive] this season so much.
  21. If the Rockies win or the Nats lose, the Nats will be the first team mathamatically eliminated from the 2009 post season. Congrats!
  22. lets bring him/her into the world with a W
  23. Is that your suggestion or did you see/hear that?
