  1. Isnt Blake DeWitt Mike Fontenot without the sneaky power?
  2. They do still have Bourn and Bourgeois. Dont foget bad.
  3. All reports that Ive heard are that KWs working on a "Wow move". They also said that they didnt know if it was wow, that was a great move, or wow, we didnt see that coming, but not necessarily in a good way.
  4. [quoteDodgers, Cubs Nearing Ted Lilly Deal By Tim Dierkes [July 30 at 10:53pm CST] 10:53pm: The Dodgers and Cubs are closing in on a deal, according to ESPN.com's Buster Olney (via Twitter). 10:37pm: The Cubs are discussing two possible scenarios with the Dodgers, according to ESPNLosAngeles.com's Tony Jackson. One would send Lilly to LA and the other would send Lilly to LA along with teammate Ryan Theriot. FOX Sports reported early this morning that the Dodgers could acquire Theriot. ESPN.com's Jayson Stark confirms that the Yankees are in on Lilly and notes that they also inquired on Theriot (Twitter link). ] Tomorrow could be like baseball christmas morning(or chanukah in my case). hopefully we dont end up with tube socks or a hand knit nordic sweater.
  5. Tomorrow should be an intersting day. Hopefully it doesnt end up being as dissapointing as the rest of the season.
  6. Cashner hads been as bad as they come the past 2 times out.
  7. http://blogs.dailyherald.com/node/4446 This makes me want to move Lilly even more. As much as I like Lilly, much like the playoffs, hes not in the Cubs future plans, and its time to give someone an auditon.
  8. Apparently Lilly would mind though. IIRC the Twins are on his NTC list. Yeah, I know. I always wonder though if they change their minds over time. A lot can change, the Twins are in the race and play in a new park. That might matter, then again it might not. Yeah thats what I was thinking with regards to Minnesota. I bet Lilly didn't want to play in the Metrodome. Wouldnt the Metrodome have been the perfect for for Lilly?
  9. All tweets from Jon Paul Morosi. Am I imnagining things, or are the Reds supposed to have a decent 1B prospect whose blocked by Votto? I wouldnt mind sending Lilly to Dusty Baker and his reds, but Id sure like to get something good return, because if we get that Chris Heisey character, Ill be annoyed.
  10. According to the box score, Brett Jackson weasnt 0-0 and played LF, and Guyer is also in LF going 1-4. Did Brett come in late as a defensive sub, or did he leave the gsme before he had an AB for some reason?
  11. Despite being a distant 3rd place at 9 games out, theres a team who could use a pitcher like Lilly if they're really that delusional. Id gladly take Mat Gamel off their hands for him.
  12. Apparently, its a done deal. Thats just a bad, bad trade on the part of the Twins.
  13. [expletive] that, Id offer them Lilly for Ramos. The Twins could shure as hell use a starter, and Lilly could probably be convinced to waive the NTC.
  14. Brett shwoign some signs. 2-3 with a 2B and a BB. Canzler with 2 HR. Thomas with a 2B
  15. I would hope very good. Diamond has had a very good year down at AAA. He is incredibly talented. I would definitely give Diamond a shot before Jay Jackson, which may not be popular here. I definitely would if only because JJax still looks like he could use some more time in AAA, although I wouldn't be upset to have him under the instruction of Rothschild. Id love to give Diamond or Jackson the shot, despite Jacksons awful summer, but Ill be shocked if Z doesnt get the spot if/when Lilly is traded.
  16. I would pay money to hear a tape of this. When B+B find them selves on the right side of an argument with morons, it's just classic radio. http://wscr.cbslocal.com/2010/07/28/boers-and-bernstein-full-show-17/ It begins in hour 4 around the 20 minute mark. There's a classic call at the 29 minute mark. Boers was doing the show from his house and they lost his feed during the storm so it was just Dan. I was listening to that one on the way home yesterday. classic stuff.
  17. Notta, Cardinals traded Wallace to the A's in the Matt Holiday deal. A's sent Wallace to the Jays for Michael Taylor (I think?) Is there an over/under out yet on how many diferent farm systems Brett Wallace bounces between before he hits the majors?
  18. Laugh if you will, but I am beginning to once again take notice of Marquez Smith, especilly now that hes playing some 2nd. .311/.392/.491/.883 in 55 games in Iowa, plus at 25, hes young for an I Cub, whose average age seems to be in their mid 40's. I fully expect the term "flavor of the month" to come into play here, but he has had a pretty solid minor league career overall, with a .814 OPS in 3+ years, and if he proves to be a decen 2B, maybe he can platoon with Fontenot next year if we can get rid of Theriot.
  19. If we just went an even 12-12 vs. those bums, were 4 games out of 1st. Stupid Cobs.
  20. Im surprised I havnt seen this on the internet yet, even on NBA.com, but I heard it on Boers and Bernstein on the way home. He was found shot in the head in the woods in Memphis. He was last seen leaving his ex-wifes house. Wright was the 7th overall pick in the 1996 NBA draft by the Clippers and played 13 NBA seasons for the Clippers, Hawks, Grizzlies, Kings, and Cavs. His final season was '08-'09 in which he played 18 games for the Cavs.
  21. Chris Carpenter: Looks like Matt Clement, pitches like Matt Clement. If he can give us 3 years like Clement gave us, I wont complain.
  22. Angels are closer to contention than The Cubs, records aside. Both teams may both be a similar amount of games back, but The Angels have 1 team ahead of them and the Cubs have 3.
  23. May as well have just kept the overpaid black version.
  24. What about tony Thomas whose quietly having a very good year for himself? Marquez Smiths another guy whose becoming intriguing. After a brutal start to his AAA career, hes hitting .297/.389/.475./.854
