  1. Awesome fake rally. Been a while since weve seen a good one. I guess, we can blame the pen all we want, but the offense had no shortage of chances in the 9th-11th innings. That being said, a big [expletive] off and die to Howry and Stevens. I guess we'll never know if Lou didnt knee jerk Russell out for Stevens. Stevens can go back to Iowa and Howry can go to wherever broken down players go. As for Colvin, Im not jumping on the Colvin sucks bandwagon by any means, but the kid really needs a few days off. Maybe we were better off with the ha ha bad Cubs than these decent, inconsitant Cubs. At least the Ha ha bad Cubs would have netted us a better draft pick.
  2. Way to go Howry and Stevens. Now its up to Ryan Theriot.
  3. I believe this will make us what 0-3 in series against the last place Astros this season? Yet we are 1-0-1 in series against Philly? Dont forget 2-9 vs. the Pirates.
  4. Not sticking up for Howry by any means, but aside from Marmol, Cashner, and Marhsall, the Cubs have a bullpen full of guys who serve the same purpose.
  5. Too bad. Cubs should have put this game to bed several innings ago. Id say that its time the end the Bob Howry experiment, but theyd just bring up a younger, equally crappy version of him. IE Jeff Stevens.
  6. welcome back Stevens. Now feel free to jump back on the carousel of crappy minor league relievers and take Howry with you.
  7. Long game getting you down? Need 1 team to score so it can finally come to an end? The Answer: Bob Howry.
  8. Could that have been Teds last pitch as a Chicago Cub?
  9. I jumped into MLBTRs live chat with this, and here was the answer, for what its worth: Interesting.
  10. Im going on record as saying I really didnt like that bunt move by our best trade chip.
  11. A replacement 1B for one. But who is out there? They have money freed up with Lee and Lilly gone and there's still no word that the Ricketts won't shell out extra if need be. It's not like there are any monster FA's out there that they need to have a ton of money for. I'm not saying I want them to extend Aramis beyond his crazy deal, but I wouldn't mind it at all if he goes bat [expletive] crazy good with the bat the rest of the year and he doesn't opt out. Yeah I mean I want Aramis to stay with the team. I was just playing Devil's advocate. I am just excited that we will actually be getting decent sized contracts off the books this offseason, even if it is 2 of or bigger contributors, at least historically. Of course now that we know that Hendry is possibly staying, I could see him resigning Lilly and Lee to 3 year deals. Either that or lock up Ryan Theriot to a 5/75 deal with full NTC.
  12. Everything depends on Aramis for the offseason. We could end up with a very solid lineup if he returnd next year. Heres a projection. 1B ??? 2B Theriot/Font/Baker SS. Castro 3B. Aramis LF Soriano CF Byrd RF Colvin/Fuku C Soto C Chirinos/Castillo IF Theriot/Font/Baker IF Barney OF Colvin/Fuku/??? if Fuku moved OF Brad Snyder Sp Z(I really dont see him going anywhere) SP Demp SP Wells SP Gorzalanny SP Cashner/Silva/Diamond CL Marmol RP Marshall BP Guzman? BP Jackson BP Grabow BP 2 of Stevens/Cales/Gaub/Parker As said by someone before, 1 1B option is to see if the Royals would send us Alex Gordon for Tyler Colvin, and then keep Fuku in RF.
  13. If the Nats do trade Dunn, unless blown away by an offer, they have no reason not to wait until the last minute for the best deal. The White Sox, Amgels, and Yankees are all said to have interest, and if the Rays decide to jump in the ring, who probably have more good, disposable prospects than any team in baseball, all bets are off. IM sure if the Sox offer Gordon Beckham and Daniel Hudson right now, The Nats will send Dunn right over, but if not, they'll hang on until the last minute as they should.
  14. Decent day for Casey Coleman 7 IP 7 H 2 ER 1 BB 0 K And whose Scott Maine again? I know he was from a recent trade, but I forget which.
  15. Do we know exactly what happened to Trey?
  16. D Lee building that trade value. Just keep it up for another week big guy.
  17. I think that the fact that he was partially responsible for costing us the game Saturday and still got the start Sunday means that Lou finally gets it.
  18. Come on clowns, get Ca$hner the first of what will hopefully be many, many big league Ws.
  19. Brett Jackson 2-4 with a 2B, so thats good.
