  1. I wouldnt mind at all dealing Lilly for Upton, however, Carl Crawford remaining with the Rays beyond 2010 is unlikely, and I dont know what kind of outfiled depth the Rays have in have in the minors, so they might want to keep Upton around. I could understand dealing him in a deal for Cliff Lee, but Ted Lilly, I just dont see it.
  2. Wed have to include a lot more than Lilly to get Upton. Also, I dont know how Lilly would fare in a divison loaded with sluggers and Im sure that the Yanks and Rays both have that in mind. He played for the Blue Jays before we signed him. The Yankees too. And in the 7 years he spent between those 2 teams, he posted a 59-57 record with a 4.52 ERA and 1.37 WHIP, as opposed to 47-34 with a 3.75 ERA and 1.15 in his 3.5 with the Cubs.
  3. I'm unironically rooting for the Reds to win the World Series too bad Adam Dunn isn't there anymore Eh, of the teams close right now I want either the Twins or the Padres. Id go with the Rangers, just because, but I would complain if the default world champion Yankees did it again. Besides, my earliest baseball memories are of Yankee stadium, Reggie Jackson, and mini baseball helmet sundays .My first ball game was Yankees/A's, which I remember because I remember my dad telling me the guys in the green are the bad guys. Id be leading a much happier baseball life had I stayed a Yankee fan.
  4. Don't forget Cesas Izturis and Will Ohman... My god, no wonder the O's suck so bad. How many Cubs cast offs do they need. They can have the whole damn team except for Castro, Soto, and Cashner as far as Im concerned.
  5. If Soto can be our starter at the position for the next several years, I think that Wellington Castillo or Robinson Chirinos would be perfectly fine as backups.
  6. [expletive] it, Im at the point where Ill be satisfied with the outcome of the season as long as the Cardinals or White Sox dont win the World Series. Id even take Dusty Baker and his Reds.

  8. Lilly and Theriot for Cano and Ill forgive everything Hendry has ever done.
  9. The main differences between Ron Santo and Joe Morgan is that Santos entertaining and seems to know that most of what he says makes little to no sense.
  10. I'm so happy that I was on the phone with my Dad for the last 10-20 minutes. What'd he say? And does he not realize he is one of the top ten catchers in baseball? Probably higher than that but I'm not not going to work to prove Morgan wrong. Russell Martin was up to bat and Morgan was talking about how he and Soto had started their careers strong and then had trouble after their rookie year. Then Morgan says "And both Martin and Soto have turned things around - well, the *Cubs* believe Soto has turned things around," as if he thought Soto was a bum. So let me get this straight, the brilliant Joe Morgan believes that Martin, .247/.351/.337/.688 HAS turned things around, but Soto, .289/.412/.488/.900 is only BELIEVED to have turned things around? What an idiot. I know your not supposed to wish physical harm on people around here, so Ill just stop there.
  11. Too bad. Getting no hit would have been the ideal ending to the first half of the season.
  12. Maybe McPhails dumpster diving is finally paying off. Im all for all of these guys sucess, especially when their on a team as irellevant as the Orioles. No matter what happens, I wont kick myself about Patterson as Washington and Milwaukee both quickly tried and gave up on him, and Fox was never of much use to us, but giving up on Pie when they did for nothing, essentially to make room for Aaron [expletive] Miles and Joey [expletive] Gathright is nothing short of perplexing. what really bothers me about Pie is the idea that he was given a chance with the Cubs and didnt perform. You mean after playing half of 2007 and a fourth of 2008 and we shipped him off when he was 24? Yeah, Ill say he got a fair shot. I'm hoping this is sarcasm but, 260 AB over a year and a half is not a fair shot. Getting 1 start a week is a horrible thing to do to a prospect. My part was clearly sarcasm. I dont know about the guy before me. Hopefully it was, but you never know.
  13. Freddi sounds like they way to go. However, I think that Ricketts has already decided on Sandberg.
  14. I'm not sure but I think he's on the DL, he's not young anymore but if I'm the Cubs I'd jump all over that. Trouble is that Fukudome's not really a CFer and they already have Cameron and Drew. I guess they could through him in LF. It might make more sense to move the oft injured Drew to DH and Fukudome to RF once Papis likely gone after this year.
  15. ALRIGHT! Time to trade Brett Jackson, Jay Jackson, and Chris Archerfor Scott Downs and Brian Tallet!

  17. If Gorzolanny continues to pitch the way he has this year for a few more years, that trade could go down as one of Hendrys better moments.
  18. So first it was the bullpen, then the offense, now defense.
  19. Hes really not that bad of a defensive catcher, but is there any chance he could convert to 1B?

  21. It really looks like the 2008 Geo could be back. At this moment, hes OPSing .899. Hopefully he sticks around for 2011.
  22. Yeah, that's what I was getting at. I've always liked his potential, but moreso as a catcher than a 1st baseman. Especially now that he's sporting a minor league OPS south of .800. Still, you dont think hed be worth Xavier Nady even if we do pick up whatever we still owe him? This is Xavier Nade were talking about.
  23. With that offense, and a top of the rotation of Lee, Harden if/when healthy, and rookie Tommy Hunter, the Rsngers couold be a very difficult team to bet in the post season. Molina and Lee are some damn good pickups for a team that supposedly couldnt make any big ones due to financial issues.
  24. I think that Raley, Huseby, and Watkins deserve a bit more time before theyre lumped in with that bunch. And is there any news on the Reggie Golden front? It would suck to let a 2nd rounder walk, but you dont want to overpay for a guy just because he sees himself as 1st round talent and wants the money to match. Sounds like someone who could become a pain in the ass in the future.
