    With any Brewer starter other than Gallardo on the mound, this game would be very much in reach.

    With the Orioles, D Backs, Royals, Indians, Pirates, Mariners, and newly deconstructed Astros ahead of us, it will be tough, but I think that 6th ot 7th should be no problem. were in some bad, bad company.

    I think we can close the book on this one. With Z a non factor, Lilly gone, and everyone else back to earth, our rotation is officially worse than the Brewers, so I think its time to start focusing on battling the Astros for 4th.

    They're going to have to end up calling on someone from Tennesse, the question is will it be a starter or a reliever. Maybe Aaron Schafer would be a good choice although he hasnt exactly been steller in AA, but still.

    The idiotic Cubs fans who are outraged about Theriot being traded remind me of the idiotic White Sox fans after 2005 who were outraged about trading away their gritty white boy Aaron Rowand.

    despite the 6-4 win, not a great day for the Tennessee prospects. Camoana, Jackson, Canzler, and Chirinos went a combined 0-13.

    Maybe Im just being optimistic here considering the teams ahead of us, but Im not ready to give up on this team just yet...to land a top 5 draft pick.

    I highly doubt it since he has only thrown 28 innings in AA. With Bibens-Dirkx, Jay Jackson, Samardizja, Mathes, Atkins and Coleman all already in Iowa, they don't need another starter. I would hope for Cashner to go back down and get back to starting. Carpenter could also be moved up, I think. And Hung-Wen Chen is also at Iowa. Mathes is at the point where hes just wasting a roster spot. Maybe hes a good mentor to the kids, but he really shouldnt be holding anyone back. I understand them feeling that Archer isnt ready yet, espcially with the control issues and small sample size at AA, but there are other guys who should be give that spot. like who? there are a lot of guys at AAA that are "wasting" playing time, like scales. sometimes there's roster filler at AA and AAA. it's really not a big deal. I understand that not all of these guys are here because their prospcts, but they also shouldnt be blocking anyone. Scales is a great example. If prefer to just call up Tony Thomas. With Mathes, Hung Wen Chen is a guy who may not be great, but may or may not have a future, which Mathes does not. If Mathes is to remain on the team, they should try him as a loogy and not hold back anyone else.

    With Diamond, its about the age factor. Much like Brad Snyder and Brian LaHair, its hard to consider them our prospects so much as other teams failed prospects for one reason or another that were giving another chance to. I know I had Snyder on that list, but he probably doesnt belong on a prospect list. Chirinos is hard to peg as well for that reaon, although hes always been in our system, but hes old as well, especially for a guy whose never sniffed AAA.

    Its true. Unless he was striking out on 3 pitches or weakly grounding the 1st pitch to the second baseman, which was most of the time. But other than that, THERIOT ALWAYS GOT ON BASE NO MATTER WHAT

    Its hard to trust a 28 year old "prospect", but you never know, and him and Hoffpauir might end up competing for the job in ST next year due to the thin FA market, unless of course they go after Adrian through trade in the offseason.

Marquez Smith 15. Aaron Schafer 16. Darwin Barney 17. Brett Wallach(intrigued) 18. Tony Campana 19. Brad Snyder(old, but deserves a chance) 20. Rebel Ridling, I guess. or maybe Matt Spencer. either way/

    I sure hope so. Id have no problem seeing what he can do at 2B, but from what Ive heard, his natural posotion is 3B, and I highly doubt he'll ever be able to put up the kind of numbers expected from a 3B. If they plan on him being the 2B of the future, or at least near future, thats one thing, but if they plan for him to play 3rd once Aramis is gone, that could be bad.

    Does Hendry not understand how this process works? is there something i'm missing here? i really feel like i just must not understand the process very well, cause offering him arbitration kind of seems like a no-brainer The only time when it makes sense to offer arby is if you really dont want the player back, and feel they may accept it and your stuck with him. I could understand with Lee, but with Lilly, whether he loves Chicago or not, hes 36 years old with a weak FA market, and this will be his last chance to land a 2-3 year deal, so I cant see him accepting arby for 1 year.

    This wasn't a bad deadline. In the last 24 hours, Roy Oswalt, Lance Berkman, Ted Lilly, and others were traded. In 2005, the big deadline move in MLB was our acquisition of Matt Lawton. Kyle Farnsworth and Ron Villone were the others of note that were traded. On a side note, whats the over/under on average attendance for the remainder of the season for the Astros?
