  1. time to buckle up and hope for a smooth ride.
  2. Ugly, ugly lineup for the Bucs today, not that thats ever come between the Cubs and a loss before.
  3. Supply and demand.
  4. I predict one actual DP for every five predictions. Go Cubs! I predict five actual DPs for every one prediction.
  5. Clearly, the problem with the Tampa Bay Devil Rays since their inception has been the logo and uniforms.
  6. How long until Krivsky and Wade get into a bidding war over a middle reliever? oh about a month and a half, I'd wager. too bad hendry will outbid them both. He'll be too busy offering Will Ohman a 5 year extension.
  7. I like it. Any word on the Pirates lineup?
  8. And what I'm saying is this is ridiculous. "True fans" is a stupid phrase. The theory that many fans find the team trendy because they lose is stupid. The theory that marketing would decline if they won is asinine. It's a stupid topic that should be deleted. Immediatly, it would skyrocked, however, in the long runs, people outside Chicago would not care as much, and wed become another hated big money team like the Yanks and Red Sox. Holy moley, the Yankees and Red Sox probably have the two largest fan bases in baseball. The Cubs, Dodgers, and Giants are probably in the second teir. I think you are not approaching this logically. When I was really young I liked the Minnesota Vikings of Fran Tarknington, Alan Page, Chuck Forman, Sammy White, George Marsahall etc.. I still like the Vikings today even know they suck and play in roller dome. Whatever fans the Cubs get by winning will be a plus. Of course teams in cities like New York, Chicago, Boston, and LA are going to have bigger fan bases in smaller market areas such as Cincinatti, Milwaukie, and Kansas City.
  9. Lefties are always tough to hit, which makes them a premium and as long as they're not god awful, they'll always get a job. However, the Cubs are especially bad against them, and Craig Monroe was supposed to be an answer to that proble, but so far that hasnt worked out too well.

  11. Since the beginning of August, the Brewers are 4-11 vs. Teams outside the NL Central.
  12. I suppose we could root for the Cubs to get the job done themselves. I dont care how good the Pirates, Marlins, and Reds are doing wih the spoiler ball role or who they put on the mound, they're the same scrub teams that spent the majority of the season burying themselves toward the bottom of the standings, and if we cant beat them, and the Brewers can beat 2 great teams in The Braves and Pads, well they deserve to win it. However, if we must scoreboard watch, take into consideration that the Brewers are 4-11 against non NL Central teams since August.
  13. Obviously most people didnt notice that I mentioned that the true fans would love it and stay true, however the world wide Cubs fans who simply find the team "trendy" would stop caring, not that they matter to us, however from a marketing stand point, it could hurt.
  14. Intersting. While hes 4-0 vs the Cubs in his career, and 2-0 this year, however he has an ERA of 5.02 vs. the Cubs, suggesting that our offense doesnt so much have a problem with him as the Pirates offense gives him some good run support against us.
  15. Dont forget Pavano, Caprenter, and AJ Burnett
  16. They say he could miss the rest of the season, which hopefully will only be 2 starts. I guess it all depends if their willing to risk more serious injury to have him on the mound for a few games.
  17. For the true fan, no doubt about it. What I speak of is the fans out there who like the idea of the team who hasnt won in almost a century. It could be a disaster for merchandising after they get out the initial run of World Champion Cubs merchandise. Think about it, half of the mystique surrounding the Chicago Cubs to the common fan is that 99 year draught, and while 99 years is impressive, and by impressive I mean pathetic, 100 years would be legendary. I remember before 2004, Red Sox nation was just as big as Cubs nation, but 2 years later, there just another perennial contender with a lot of money to throw around. Im all about the Cubs marching all the way to the end, and doing so for many years to come, but I bet if it were to happen, there would be a lot of fans out there who would drop off. Sure, I know what your going to say, who needs 'em, and I agree, but still Its an interesting thought.
  18. according to the Brewers.com poll, 62% of Brewers fans dont think the Brewers will win the division.
  19. And this they couldnt have done to the Brewers?
  20. If we cant take at least 2 from the Pirates, 2 from the Fish, and 1 from the Reds we dont deserve to win.
  21. Go Cubs Go! Go Cubs Go! Hey Chicago, whattya say? Braves are gonna win today.
  22. I never would have imagined this game to be a pitchers duel. Whatever, time to end it.
  23. We had him for a short while early 2000s. BIG K Fo some reason, before the Barrett trade, someone out there thought that trading for him and the Rangers crappy catcher whose name eludes me would be the answer for the Cubs.
