  1. My god, this Astros team is beyond horrible. Biggio deserves to end his career on a better note.
  2. Come on Teddy, one more out. Dont let a some nobody be a hero.
  3. While Prince Fielder can out slug D-Lee any day, we used to be able to say that Derrek makes up for it with his glove, but these days, theres no advantage to having Lee over Fielder.
  4. Brewers can it. Padres can pitch. Cubs can ground into double plays.
  5. Are the Cubs getting paid by the double play or something?
  6. Id it me or does Griffey look like he doesnt enjoy playing baseball anymore. I remember back in the day, he always had a huge smile on his face. These days, he just looks miserable, like hes working the night shift at White Castle. Kid needs to spend his twilight years with a contnder.
  7. Boy, the Cubbies really love those double plays.
  8. I hate to look a gift horse in the mouth, but couldnt Soto have done that in his first at bat?
  9. The way the Cubs are playing, it doesnt look like it will matter, but Lou announced today that if the one game playoff vs. The Brewers happens, Jason Marquis will take the mound. I for one dont think its such a bad idea. The Brewers hammer lefties, so that counts out Lilly and Hill. Zambrano has proven hes not a big game pitcher, so this leaves Jason. I guess the bottom line is if it happens, and we win, Lou will be hailed as a genious. If we loose, he will be marked for death. If it doesnt hapen, it wont matter.
  10. I wouldnt expect any Cubs to be on any playoff rosters they way they're playing.
  11. my GOD these guys are pathetic. Ill give the Cubs one thing though, they sure know how to make a mediocre pitcher look like an ace.
  12. Ben Sheets may miss his next start,,,We are in fine shape. He may miss a lot more tha that, and dont forget that we face the Pirates this weekend and most likely miss Gorzelanny and Snell. UMFan83 has Zambrano facing Gorzelanny this weekend in his "Probable Starters" thread cubs.com also has Gorzelanny going on Sunday. Not only that but the unstoppable Zach Duke on Saturday. Career 4.20 ERA, but a 1.57 career ERA in 7 starts against the Cubs :?: cubs.com and espn.com both have John Van Benschoten starting Saturday's game for the Pirates. The Pirates have announced that they are going to start Duke on Saturday so they can have 3 left-handers going against the Cubs. The Astro's pull Oswalt and Williams for rookies and Pirates are gunning for us, reworking their rotation so that we see 3 lefties. Who'd we piss off? Its called stop making excuses and start hitting lefties.
  13. Shearn is due for an L. Lilly is the man to make it happen. Lets just hope the offense is awake tonight.
  14. Ben Sheets may miss his next start,,,We are in fine shape. He may miss a lot more tha that, and dont forget that we face the Pirates this weekend and most likely miss Gorzelanny and Snell.
  15. In one day Cubs nation feels that the Brewers will dominate the Braves, Cards, and Padres and we have no chance vs. the Reds, Marlins, and Pirates.
  16. Is it? Do you see the scrub the Astros are throwing out tomorrow. Guys we aren't really tied for first. We are as good as in second the way the Brewers are playing. The Astros suck and they're 12-4, soonto be 13-4 vs. theBrewers this season. The Brewers have 4 against Atlanta, 3 against St. Louis, and 4 against San Diego. This division is the Cubs for the taking. It all depends on how bad they want it.
  17. News Flash: The Astros are a bad baseball team.
  18. That was a pathetic, pathetic excuse for a ball game. No adrenelin pumping through these guys.
  19. Put a fork in it. Every time they pick up a huge win that should get some major momentum going, they go limp the next game.
  20. 3 runs down, and we got the guys to get them vs. a dismal Reds bull pen.
  21. Bases loaded, 2 out and here comes portly Cub killer Javier Valentin.
  22. Ou destiny is controlled by the Braves, Padres, and Cards.
  23. What ever happend to Lous vow not to use Wood in big game situations?
  24. What did you expect? His pitiful pinch hiting numers plus the fact that he runs like a 75 year old woman with arthritis should have made it a no brainer.
