  1. would it be pinch hitting? I mean, would he have to come out? I was thinking the same thing. Could they say as a last minute lineup change, someone like Ohman was the scheduled starter, or once the lineup cards are exchanged, does Traschel have to be start?
  2. Pinch hit for Trashel! Again, Im just saying.
  3. 4-0 CUBS!!! Those 2 really neded to come through, and here they are. Time to pull Traschel. Im just saying.
  4. Our offense just needs to make Woody Williams look like Woody Williams, and hope that Trashel can keep us in the game for 5 or 6 innings. Ramirez, Soriano, and Lee are a combined 3-26 with a handfull of walks the past 2 games, and their bats are going to be the difference maker, especially with Berkman and C-Lee being eerily quiet as well. Wasnt it just 2 or 3 days ago when Ramirez urged the rest of the team that he, Soriano, and Lee couldnt do this alone? How about the rest of the team cant do it without these 3? With a pair of broken down pitchers on the mound, all 5 of the afor mentioned sluggers should have big games.
  5. First one who can string together a 3 game win streak will probably take the division.
  6. If anyones glad Demp didnt blow it, its Soriano, Lee, and Ramirez, because if he did, surely their combined 0 for 12 would have been brought up as a factor in the loss. Those 3 need to bring it if they want the post season to become a reality.
  7. Exactly. And if people want to argue that a closer then has to deal with those flukes, well, he did. I think these are the kinds of closes that, contrary to the drama, show how good Dempster can actually be in the role. maybe, but i'd still rather have Marmol Remember, a lot of closes aren't like this...most of them aren't. The high drama ones just stick out. Marmol is much more useful coming in between the 6th and 8th innings, where the pressure is usually MUCH higher. I have no problem with using Marmol in a 1-run game in the 9th but I also would like to see his arm exist next season. Agreed. He could easily Tommy John himself. It happens to many a young fire baller.
  8. In hindsight, the jam itself wasnt really Demps fault. The Loretta hit was a fluke and the Lamb triple should have been a single had Pie played it right.
  9. Wow. If anyone needs me, I'll be in the back of an ambulance.
  10. What I like about Theriot is even though his bats in a slump, hes still able to pick up some big walks and sacs.
  11. Time to walk Lee and bring in Marmol to face one batter.
  12. BREAKING NEWS: Alfonso Soriano does something usefull!
  13. I'm sure I don't like it. If Howry needed to be used this inning, I would much rather it be because Wuertz was unable to get two outs before allowing the go-ahead run to the plate. (I never claimed to be a good manager) I like it much better than the idea of Wood, Ohman, or Wuertz loading the bases with nobody out.
  14. Its only the top of the 8th, and Im shuddering thinking about who they use to close this one out if it comes down to that. As long as his first or last name doesnt begin with W we should be OK.
  15. Cubs have this one in the bag. I truely would like to believe that.
  16. Those Bucs dont mess around when it comes to September and theyre already out of it. Is it me, or was that series earily similar to the Cubs/Pirates series?
  17. His worst decision of all: wait for it...Agreeing to manage this team.
  18. At least the Brewers play nice and early today so I wont have to worry about whats going on in game day while The Cubs are making me nervous enough. Hill vs. Albers huh? We missed out on mediocre Lefty Patton and get mediocre righty Albers. Hopefully the offense can capitilize on this little gift, and hopefully Hill can rebound from his last dismal start. The last thing we want is Trashel being the only thing standing between the Disastros and a sweep. Theriot gets a needed day off, but Cedeno in the lineup doesnt exactly make it easy. Id rather have Eric "Mr. Punctuality" Patterson at SS. Tennessees done, so why not? Soriano, Lee, and Ramirez need to really step it up today. I dont care what they did the other day. The good news is Lidge likely wont be available tonight. The better news is Dempster likely wont be available tonight.
  19. The only players absolved from this joke of a game are Marmol and Howry.
