  1. Except Lilly isn't mediocre and he never has been. If you look at his career stats prior to coming to this season, they define mediocre.
  2. Cubs miss Roy Oswalt and recent Cubs Killer Wandy Rodriquez vs. the Stros. The only matchup that scares me here is Traschel/Williams. Its like one of those Maddux/Glavine type old timers duels, only they suck. I assure you that Trasch will be on a short leash.
  3. Just gos to show what happens when you take a mediocre pitcher from a strong division and put him in a weak one.
  4. DeRosa was pulled the next half inning, so it must have been him. Dont want to downplay it, but better him then Soriano or Ramirez. Hope hes OK though. Can anyone elaborate to those of us stuck in Game Day land? read the thread it was the ump Thats a relief. For a moment there, I though it might be someone who mattered.
  5. Good to see the offense letting their frustration out at the right time. However, this means they'll score a cumulative 5 runs during the Houston series.
  6. DeRosa was pulled the next half inning, so it must have been him. Dont want to downplay it, but better him then Soriano or Ramirez. Hope hes OK though. Can anyone elaborate to those of us stuck in Game Day land?
  7. heres to hoping Ryan Brauns next in line.
  8. How is that advantage Cubs? Braves and Pads are good teams, where as the Pirates, Marlins, and Reds arent.
  9. Dude, its 17 games, and 30n at bats. He has 11 hits, 2 are homer, 1 2b and the rest singles.
  10. People can talk about the Cards being the Cubs big competition, but the fact is The Brewers have been playing some great ball, where as the Cards are not only losing players at an alarming pace, but they have no days off left, plus they still have to play the Mets and Phils. The Cubs need to just keep the Crew close, as the Brewers have Atlanta, St Louis, and San Diego the last week and a half of the season, where we have the Pirates, Marlins, and Reds. The Brewers are looking more and more like the major threat, however, the Cubs main obstacle going into the home stretch will be themselves. Can they find one more hot streak? Does Lou need to do a little lineup tweaking? Maybe Soto can give us the same kind of lightening in a bottle that Pagan, Pie, and Fontenot did when they first came up. Has Kerry Wood saved up enough money for his involuntary early retirement?
  11. Not sue why everyone wants Hendry out of town. Sure, he likes to spend the big bucks, but his main aquisitions have done their jobs as well as they were expected to.
  12. Looks like 2007 is en route to becoming another disspointing chapter in Cubs history. If the Pirates could play all season like they have lately, they wouldnt have to resort to spoiler ball every August and September.
  13. Kerry Wood future gets cloudier and cloudier.
  14. Great Job by Ramirez. Murton you suck. Jones A for effort. DeRosa you suck.
  15. every time Geovany Soto plays, Jason Kendall can feel that contract extension get farther and farther away.
  16. And the fact the Trashel couldnt buy an out vs. one of the worst lineups ive ever seen didnt even factor into it?
  17. Reds are trying to com back. 8-5.
  18. Whether or not the Brewers are a better team than the Cubs is debateable, however the fact that The Brewers are playing better baseball and want it more is not.
  19. This season is really starting to show shades of the last few weeks of 2004. I wasnt around to see the '69 Cubs, but one couls assume that the final months of their season looked something like this.
  20. Time to get Trashel out of there and see if the Cubs offense has any testosterone left in em.
  21. Pirates have an ugly, ugly lineup out. If we cant beat them, we deserve 2nd or 3rd.
  22. Traschel looked pretty good last time out, and against a legit team, but all Im saying is Lou should have Marshall ready to jump in at moments notice.
