  1. Glad to see the Pads comeback win last night. I just hope the Phils can keep em close enough to keep them needing to fight. Peavy, Young, and Maddux are sure things for the Brewers.
  2. In a horrilble rotation comprised of old relievers, The Cards save the worst for last.
  3. I hope Don Young doesn't choke down the stretch again. No wait that was 35 years ago, and he may very well be dead. The plight of the last 99 years has nothing to do with the current team. There aren't even many players left from the team that collapsed in '04, and most importantly there are no coaches or MANAGER left from that team. It just seems that the Cubs always choke. The evidence is there. You can't deny it. That being said, however, I feel good about this game. Hopefully they can rebound and the bats can put up 5 or so runs. Hopefully they'll win and the Brewers will lose and all will be well... True. If the Cubs cant muster at least another 3 wins against a couple of weak teams, and the Brewers can pull of 5 more consecutive wins, then The Brewers deserve to win it, and the Cubs dont and 2007 will simply go down as another dissapoining chapter in Cubs History. So true. BTW - Pad's are down again tonight. If they are out of it Brewers aren't going to see Peavy in the series. Phils already lost. The worst the Pads could do is go into the Milwaukee series down a game, so I cant see them being out of it by then.

  5. Facing the Marlins and Reds isn't a lucky break, because we play them no matter what. It really doesn't matter when we play them. How is having a magic number of 4 a lucky break? Sure it's luck. The schedules all about luck. As for the magic number, we have it because the Brewers, up by 8.5 games imploded, and the Cubs werent playing all that well themselves, aside from that June/July hot streak, so thats luck too. Its a different kind of luck, but luck none the less.

There aren't even many players left from the team that collapsed in '04, and most importantly there are no coaches or MANAGER left from that team. There wasnt anyone from the '69 team on the '04 team yet either. Again, Im not in panic mode. yet. Tonight was just a speed bump and a wakeup call that just because we had a good Sunday doesnt mean that this things in the bag. I really dont see us not winning at least 3 more.
  7. You cant exactly blame Cubs fans for jumping into panic mode with a 2 game lead and 5 games left. The team has trained it fans to do so over the past 99 years.
  8. Barone was 7-0 in AAA however had an ERA of 4.09.
  9. We'll likely have Jones and Floyd in the lineup, and that gives us some extra pop in there.
  10. That ump was clearly a Brewers fan.
  11. How cute, the Cards actually want to play now. Too little too late scrubs.
  12. Tonight is indeed the Brewers night. Let them enjoy it, and make the final outcome that much harder for them to swallow.
  13. By playing like we did last week and not tonight.
  14. It's hard to win games without a pitching staff.
  15. It's still a poor decision that might have overcome a lackluster effort from the offense. I say the Cubs gave a poor effort: I get called out. Raisin says it: He's right! You called it a poor effort in the second inning. I said the offense's results were lackluster today after the game. We basically lost to 2 bloop singles.
  16. True. Cubs win this game if not for an early Lilly implosion (and a couple junk hits along the way). Marlins didn't do crap afterwards. Gonna let a junk inning beat you from a team that's 11 games under .500 at home? Then you deserve to schedule a vacation in October instead of play baseball. And it was only 1 inning at that. Someone just start tommorows thread and lets leave all this nastyness behind us.
  17. Wel that sucked royally. I guess well just have to hope for another Brewers melt down tonight.
  18. That Ump seriously needs to be banned for life.
  19. I feel the double play in every bone in my body.
  20. Kevin Hart really deserves a playoff roster spot. Preferably that of Will Ohman.
  21. -face the Marlins and Reds in the final 6 games of the season. -Have 2 more pitchers with ERAs over 5 the next 2 games. -face a Reds lineup in the last series without Griffey and Dunn -have a magic number of 4 Oh wait, thats the Cubs. Stop whining and let the Cubs win this thing, and let those rat bastards get their cheesehead hopes up.
  22. Moron swung through an easy ball 3. Oh well, if the Cubs really want to win this thing, they have the right guys coming to the plate in the 9th, and Ill be surprised if its vs. Dontrelle, so I guess we'll just have to see what happens.
  23. Too bad Craigs first Cubs homer couldnt have actually meant something.
  24. Time to let the big boys sit and bring out the back ups.
  25. Were up against 2 more guys with ERAs over 5 the next 2 games. Surely we can scrape out a win or 2.
