  1. Jalen Carter should be a bear
  2. Why are we blaming the media for this stuff? Eberflus is in way over his head. He’s a goober and has been since the beginning, cowardly decision after cowardly decision last season. A defensive minded head coach whose defense does not pose a challenge to opposing teams. He explicitly said he did not want to call defensive plays because he wanted to focus on all aspects of the team and he is completely clueless about the offense. This is not a Chicago media story. This is a Chicago Bears front office and coaching staff story.
  3. I believe this is what they call the bargaining stage of grief
  4. I think having less than great football players is a side effect of prioritizing athleticism and build in the draft, but it doesn’t have anything to do with knowing basics. Football is not that technical of a sport.
  5. I believe they can be, because Eberflus screams “guy who can lose the building in a heartbeat” and the talent level is low enough that they are capable of looking bad against any level of competition, even the Packers. And we already know the season rides on Fields taking a leap. If that does not happen, this team is going to struggle, if he regresses (entirely possible with a shellshocked qb) this team will be worse than last year.
  6. You are probably right on the first point, but that’s a risk Im willing to take. At this rate he is a release candidate before the trade deadline. He’s bringing nothing to the table and has brought nothing to the table since being acquired. Id much rather risk losing this one mediocre receiver than a) lose all the guys that must be pissed off at his lack of effort, or b) show the guys that there are no repercussions for loafing. Eberflus stresses this stuff. It’s the one thing in his bag of tricks. I don’t have any faith that he’ll be the head coach that brings success to this team, but if he can’t backup the talk on hustle, he doesn’t stand a chance to make it through the season with this locker room respecting him.
  7. You can’t let him be active in week 2. Bench him now. Get it out of the way. He’s not going to improve on his own volition. He’s had a year with this team. I don’t care about some missed practice. He was in the building the entire time. He knows what he’s supposed to do and he chose to dog it on opening day. He should have been on a short leash to start the season and he’s already burned any veteran benefit of the doubt. He’s simply not nearly talented, let alone productive, enough, to tolerate that minimal level of effort. He’s the 3rd receiver on a team that is going to let him walk this offseason. If he wants to come back and practice hard to regain active duty, let him prove it.
  8. Okay, thanks. Makes sense. But they don’t have three better receiving options. Kmet is pretty clearly the 3rd best option.
  9. Can you clarify your Kmet thoughts?
  10. Bears expected win total ticked up, but still drafting twice in top 5
  11. In other words: https://youtu.be/mY4LGECbjTg?si=kO64vXvRItsozj1v
  12. A winnable game in the off-season may be a struggle as the Bears face a real defense (something they don’t do well with) and a mediocre offense (something this defense can’t handle). the home team is a 3 point favorite. It will be hot, humid and stormy. The heat and humidity will take a toll on depth, which the bears don’t have. They probably bounce back effort wise and put up a fight, but lose by 1. over/under on Fields turnovers- 1.5
  13. That’s on them for dipping into the aging Packer legend well again.
  14. What if the story of Achilles was about a Greek hero felled by astroturf?
  15. Lots of people thought Justin Fields would take the Josh Allen leap, they were partially right but they didn’t know Josh Allen leapt into Justin Fields body first
  16. The weird thing about those teams is the fandom crossover is nearly a concentric circle. Whether they are New Jersey residents or from Long Island, I know plenty of Mets/Jets fans. That’s a rough life. Yankees fans tend to be Cowboys fans, although some a Giants but most think football is beneath them.
  17. New York’s Lamest
  18. There used to be a horse track at this complex, should go ahead and put him down Churchill downs style
  19. Love was not good, but he didn’t horsefeathers up and faced a pathetic defense. Fields was not good, but did horsefeathers up, in many of the same ways he’s done in the past.
  20. If this offense remains putrid, DJ Moore will demand a trade this offseason. He’s got one chance to break the bank in free agency and that won’t happen if he’s getting 2 targets a game with the Bears and breaking in a rookie next season.
  21. I thought the team was ill prepared and unmotivated. They looked dead on the sidelines. This is Poles’s team and so far it is not promising. while I do not believe this scenario is likely, think for a minute of the opportunity they’d have with two top 5 picks this offseason. If somehow the Bears’ own pick is top five, this season is a disaster. That would mean Ryan Poles took a subpar Ryan Pace team and made it much worse. Two top five picks in an offseason with a ton of cap space is a once in a lifetime opportunity to set things straight. Nothing about what he’s done tells me Ryan Poles would be able to take advantage of that opportunity. If this team finishes 2023/24 as a bottom 5 team, that is on Poles and he has to go. At this point I’d trust Kevin Warren to hire a better GM that could turn things around if it gets to that point. hopefully it doesn’t, but that’s on Eberflus, Getsy and Fields.
  22. I think the clarity on this question will be obvious.
  23. Y’all? I don’t remember complaining that he didn’t check down enough. Fields had an awful game. He was without a doubt the guy I wanted in the draft. Very happy to have him. Very disappointed with his inability to improve on several issues that have plagued him. Holding ball too long. Turnovers. Check downs. Creating his own sacks. It’s year 3 and Fields was bad today, the trend is not his friend. Neither are his coaches or GM.
  24. There were screens, but there were a ton of check downs by fields. His default mode was check down
  25. The shame of it is people will claim bears fans are overreacting to week 1 but everything about last season showed Eberflus is not up to the task.
