  1. If a guy is on the practice squad is he allowed to just catch balls off the JUGGS machine all day every day?
  2. A totally unproven DE (they waived Lewis) and a DB that was an undrafted free agent this summer. Is Velus gone? Or moving to practice squad?
  3. Stadium security is a farce and rather pointless.
  4. The pats have one qb on their roster. They’ll be signing some veteran.
  5. Pretty sure it was posted the other day when he was cut
  6. That’s my expectation. Carolina might have a ceiling of top 5 pick. But I doubt it’s that good.
  7. Paranoid suburbanites ruin everything
  8. I would argue that the bears finishing with the 2nd worst record in the league this year would be a meltdown of epic proportions. I do think he’d get a third. By summer 2025 we should have good clarity on the stadium situation, and if they haven’t created a playoff contender by 2024, there will be grounds to clean house to try and have a solid team in the new stadium. The coordinators would probably get canned sooner, and replaced with mediocre has beens.
  9. Sure it’s possible, especially at the 6 win level. But is it likely? Odds are if you are picking 2nd, you only have ~4 wins. 6 wins is usually nowhere near the top of the draft. anyway, if the defense is that bad, and Fields can only get them 5 wins, then it really reflects poorly on Poles’ drafting (numerous dbacks and tackles early) and free agent signings (linebackers and linemen), in addition to Eberflus’s coaching. The defense should be good enough to not get blown away with regularity. That should be enough to allow Fields to win more than 5-6 games. If it isn’t enough, Fields isn’t the guy. And if they are drafting 2 next year in thay scenario, they have to look at qb. now, if it’s Carolina’s pick at 2, then that’s the jackpot baby.
  10. the athletic ran a mock draft using Dane Bruglers latest rankings and Austin Mock’s expected win totals for draft order. They’ve got Chicago drafting second with 5.7 wins, and taking Marvin Harrison Jr. Tampa selects the second QB, Maye from NC, at 5 but they note they expect him to go higher with Chicago as a trade back candidate from the 2 spot. They also have them picking J.T. Tuimoloau in the 8 spot with Carolina’s pick (7.3 wins). I just cannot imagine a scenario where the Bears win 5 games, and are happy enough with Fields to just keep drafting guys to put around him, or trade back. If their pick is the 2nd overall pick next year, Fields is not the guy, and they have to look for his successor. Maybe they don’t like any of the guys behind Williams, and they prefer a project guy lower down. But that will be two disastrous seasons in a row to start out both Poles and Flus’s careers as the top guys, they won’t be able to live through a third.
  11. Seems like a good game to bet against the Bears for emotional hedging purposes
  12. Yep, I said that. Well done. Good intuiting.
  13. Where he couldn’t get out of the 1st.
  14. Messi and the boys got a police escort into Hoboken Thursday night, must have been staying at the W.
  15. Anybody else think this could wind up in the idiot with a badge thread?
  16. Damn, these Spaniards are bastardos
  17. But he literally traded away a 2nd round pick that everybody knew would be very high, in a year he was tanking (successfully at the time) for a WR 1.5 years from free agency.
  18. Yeah, I really don’t get the “this isn’t a Poles move” sentiment. It probably won’t happen, but not because it’s a thing Poles wouldn’t do. What is a Poles move? Last year it was sit on your hands and do nothing. Then trade away defensive veterans for draft picks followed by trading draft picks for offense. This year it was ignore positions of need on the lines in free agency and double down on others. Then load up on tight ends while extending the one you already had. There isn’t really a Poles playbook, except for stressing athleticism and youth, or signing a nearly 40 year old.
  19. Time and again trades have shown us that guys aren’t worth what we think they are. A conditional 3rd rounder sounds right. If Indy isn’t interested in paying him like a top RB they can’t expect to be compensated for a top RB.
  20. Is that the Smut Busters GM?
  21. Hagel signed a big extension with Tampa. I believe the first pick they got for him was used on Oliver Moore. They also have a 2024 tampa pick in the back pocket.
