    I thought the team was ill prepared and unmotivated. They looked dead on the sidelines. This is Poles’s team and so far it is not promising. while I do not believe this scenario is likely, think for a minute of the opportunity they’d have with two top 5 picks this offseason. If somehow the Bears’ own pick is top five, this season is a disaster. That would mean Ryan Poles took a subpar Ryan Pace team and made it much worse. Two top five picks in an offseason with a ton of cap space is a once in a lifetime opportunity to set things straight. Nothing about what he’s done tells me Ryan Poles would be able to take advantage of that opportunity. If this team finishes 2023/24 as a bottom 5 team, that is on Poles and he has to go. At this point I’d trust Kevin Warren to hire a better GM that could turn things around if it gets to that point. hopefully it doesn’t, but that’s on Eberflus, Getsy and Fields.

    Y’all? I don’t remember complaining that he didn’t check down enough. Fields had an awful game. He was without a doubt the guy I wanted in the draft. Very happy to have him. Very disappointed with his inability to improve on several issues that have plagued him. Holding ball too long. Turnovers. Check downs. Creating his own sacks. It’s year 3 and Fields was bad today, the trend is not his friend. Neither are his coaches or GM.

    There were screens, but there were a ton of check downs by fields. His default mode was check down

    The shame of it is people will claim bears fans are overreacting to week 1 but everything about last season showed Eberflus is not up to the task.

    No you don’t. You really don’t. He made his bed and his bed is made out of cardboard boxes. He punted an off-season and his team is paying for it today. He’s not good. He could have taken a qb this offseason and chose not to. When Ryan Poles has an opportunity to make the team better he defers, and there is zero evidence he is capable of fixing this mess.

    I couldn’t imagine being the weirdo in market fan with red zone. I got it because I’ve lived in NY/NJ. I don’t even watch non-bears primetime games.

    For the first time in 23 years I’m going without Sunday ticket. I already spend too much on entertainment/media, but I also coach two hockey teams and am out and about most Sundays. I’ve recorded games but then just fast forward to the scoring plays, so that’s kind of pointless. I should be home just after kickoff this Sunday and will be able to watch on local tv. And there’s plenty more primetime games. Looking at schedule I don’t see a single game I’d be home on my couch and unable to watch. haven’t watched the cubs either this year and that’s working out great. Let’s see how this works.

    Attendance has always lagged performance. 200,000 more people attended in 1999 than 1998. same for 2004 vs 2003. if they make the playoffs this year attendance will go up next year. But never expect people to show up before the resurgence happens.
