  1. I think a mediocre veteran is more likely to win in the short term than an overwhelmed rookie.
  2. If he was any good at the job then they should be able to backfill that role internally.
  3. If he had cancer it would not have gone down this way. Unless I’m wrong
  4. Who from the bears, other than the former DC, has said it’s health and family?
  5. Why is there talk of a cover up all of a sudden?
  6. Why should they feel like dickheads for asking a perfectly reasonable question. Just because it may be a heinous situation that is no reason for anybody in the press to not ask the question. if anything they should ask more
  7. This may be the thing that kills Virginia
  8. First thing that popped into my head was the Mel Tucker situation. What else qualifies as shocking? Gambling?
  9. Who needs an hour of either?
  10. Sure, the best of the best would be fine. But guys like Tua, Hurts, Josh Allen etc would have struggled just as much. poles sabotaged fields from the start with absolutely zero effort to protect him or provide him weapons. Poles second offseason was spent with questions about whether he would spend the minimum. THE MINIMUM. People applauded this because sports fans are morons that cheer for frugality over success. The only time they care about effort is from a player. If an owner or GM doesn’t sign a guy, fans see that as a positive. I think fields is probably not salvageable given the start to his career. If he got traded to a team like the Jets with a stout defense, that would basically require the bare minimum from the QB position to contend, he might rebound. But he probably won’t get another chance with a good team and it’ll be tough to develop all over again with a bad team.
  11. I don’t agonize over not having Deshaun Watson i also don’t get the desire to watch an hour long breakdown of this teams blunders on YouTube every week.
  12. It’s been two games
  13. “Matt” sounds odd in this post. Do people generally talk about coaches using their first name only when that name is so common and dull? I get saying “Deion”, but “Matt”? Nah.
  14. The lowly Bears are 13 point dogs. The perfect opponent for the Chiefs to get right after a slow start.
  15. A tie is effectively two wins when it comes to teams piling up losses. They will be batting other garbage teams with 12/13/14 losses
  16. I’m strangely at peace with what is becoming obvious, that we haven’t even seen the bottom yet. The bears are entering Cleveland, Detroit, Jets territory, likely a joke of an afterthought for a decade plus. Gone are the days of 7 wins in a disappointing season and occasionally contending. my guess is Poles will get an undeserved second chance at the coaching hire and qb selection, exactly because of what he did to put this team in this position, nothing. They had to struggle to spend the minimum. They sat on the sidelines for two free agency periods and the McCaskeys’ profits soared. If you are gonna lose, you might as well not spend any of the owners money. I got out of the Sunday ticket game at the exact right time. Maybe by the time my kids are done playing hockey on weekends they’ll be worth following again.
  17. Only a dipshit speaks in absolutes
  18. The eagles are a Super Bowl team. Other things matter
  19. Brian Daboll might be available
  20. Cubs got their rib guy back, y’all thought you could just throw this fact into the game thread?
  21. Why do you hope he’s the answer?
  22. No, they can’t find better coaching in season. Occasionally you can upgrade a position coach with a guy that is just sitting around for some reason, but this isnt just a matter of a team needing a better OLine coach to help the players execute the plan. This is a poor coaching staff that is filled with guys who probably won’t be in the league next year if this continues. Getsy will have to be an OC at some second rate college if he can’t take advantage of Fields’ athleticism. Maybe a Northwestern would hire him. Williams might latch on as a secondary coach, but who else is running this system that would want him? Maybe he goes the way of Mel Tucker (just not all the way) and can emerge as a college head coach. But no NFL team will hire him as DC with this unit.
  23. Im not complaining about (whatshisname again?), it’s more about Poles’ habit of continually passing on talent available to him. He could have greatly improved the offensive line a year ago and he punted. He could have done so many things to have this team in a better situation today, but like the John Fox of GMs he’d rather punt on 3rd down than try and score.
