    the Yankees closer went on the DL (no idea who he is), very big news for the Cubs next week.

    It'd be about perception. Fans that think the game is currently too long might reactively check out a shorter game. It's less subtle than other attempts, and thus more attention getting. any one inning will last just as long, if not longer. You won't get rid of the 25 man roster, and will still have a lot of relievers. The manager can come out in the 4th/5th and change relievers repeatedly for matchups, slowing everything down. Plus, it would be ridiculously low scoring.

I think it could go a long way to winning some more casual fans. At the same time, [expletive] them. I can't see how it would help gain fans. People who don't like the sport aren't going to start liking it if it ends at an arbitrarily earlier point in the contest.

    What does that even mean? Kreutz was a highly paid player who dominated the locker room. It sucked that the Bears "best" lineman was a freaking center, even when he was good. Garza is a fairly compensated mediocre lineman who is not guaranteed the starting job for game 1, let alone the entire season.

    He's a primadonna because he doesn't want to accept less money than he's worth? He's a primadonna because he thinks he worth more than he can get. Many not the right descriptor for him, but he seems to have an inflated sense of worth. I'm not saying I blame him. He thinks he's worth more than the Cubs are offering, not necessarily what he can get. I'm sure he could get what he wants on the open market. And since he already has "set for life" money there is no motivation to sign early. Plus, he plays for a terrible team that looks to remain terrible for a while, which is even less incentive to sign for anything shy of market value.

    Are you talking about the graphics that start the broadcast? I mean...my 7yo notices that stuff, but I could care less about it. I remember the mid 80's openings too, but that's because I was 7yo at the time. You were 7 throughout the mid-80's? Crazy.

    There's no way they asked the opposing manager to wear the home uni for the first pitch. The strategy of grooming a new generation of fans with free superstation access with very limited competition from other entertainment sources is no longer a viable business strategy and is pointless and silly.

    The Cubs don't want to pay him what he thinks he is worth and playing on a team that loses the majority of the time they play is depressing as hell.

    What doesn't make sense? The Bears resigned Garza when they didn't know who would be available and what they could afford. Obviously the league doesn't view this guy as a starter otherwise he'd have a bigger contract. So the Bears lay low and get him late and cheap and he is a great backup. So now he's available in case Garza doesn't make it to game 1, or if he doesn't last the season. How does this not make sense? I'm guessing DLP wanted a long term deal and centers are undervalued right now. He's a starter. Well, he may have the ability to start, but the league valued him as a backup, considering the contract he signed.

    WGN TV? Because there is horrible crackling audio on mine. yeah, WGN. I don't have it up loud but can hear the voices fine, and when I did turn it up there was nothing weird.
