  1. i [expletive] loved brian jordan He was very handsome
  2. Emery has a reputation* for targeting physical freaks, and here is a list of freaks going into the 2014 college season. http://msn.foxsports.com/college-football/story/2014/07/07/ranking-top-20-cfb-freaks-2014-college-football-preseason.html *the reputation may not be all that deserved.
  3. If you've ever heard a Mets broadcast of a cubs/mets game, you would know that isn't trolling as much as it is THE storyline in every game. There is a perception out there that makeup and defense remain huge questions and risks that could make his contract a problem.
  4. But people are saying that Soler fell because of injuries therefore Buxton has to fall because of injuries. It's a huge leap. Not really, if you believe wrist injuries are far more concerning to a hitters' long term success than broken shins and hamstring sprains. I wouldn't even drop Buxton lower than, say, 3 (behind Correa and Bryant). So you are whining about a lack of falling by 2 spots?
  5. But people are saying that Soler fell because of injuries therefore Buxton has to fall because of injuries. It's a huge leap. yeah, but wrist injuries seem way more worrisome than the injuries soler has had (not that they are to be taken lightly either) But Soler's injuries have proven to be a repetitive issue and because of that, three years into his pro career he hasn't amassed a season's worth of PA. Buxton's injury has not prevented him from already having proven himself over more than 700 PA by age 20. Unless you are assuming his injury has significantly altered his future and offset what he has done, there is no real reason to knock him down, regardless of how they view Soler's situation. It is completely different.
  6. He also has a twitter history, which the Cubs don't like.

  8. From the Cubs perspective, I highly doubt it. Sure the A's wanted to corner the market on available pitchers by taking 2 off the table as early as possible. That's why they were willing to offer up Russell. And Russell being available is probably why the Cubs jumped on the offer so early.
  9. It's not just (or even primarily) his injuries. It's that Parks is down on Soler as a player compared to most other pundits. He has made these confusing judgments on his approach at the plate (very odd because he has one of the best in our system based on the results and plate appearances themselves) and he says he doesn't have the ability to make quick adjustments (based on what? - I have no freaking clue). Well, that's ridiculous (Soler's approach is probably his best attribute) but at least that might mean BP isn't grading Buxton and Soler differently when they both have injury histories. The fact that they both have injuries does not mean they should be graded the same because of those injuries. Buxton is 2 years younger, plays CF and has almost twice as many professional PA as Soler, who has yet to play even a full half season.
  10. I do not think it is just the injuries, but it is also the fact that it is another year largely lost to injuries after missing much of last year. Also, I doubt they put much value into what he did in Arizona this year.
  11. It's not really fair to make this comparison. Buxton destroyed the ball and had 575 PA last season, while Soler had half that PA because he was hurt again. Their injury concerns differ in that Soler's have been chronic.
  12. Never won anything? F that, the A's have won a lot of things.
  13. Once you establish yourself as a successful pro, the only thing that ever matters are successful pros. There is no such thing as a prospect in that world.
  14. Isn't Bryant's actual upside more than that? I mean, he probably never does it but the dude is on pace for ridiculous numbers.
  15. A stabbing? How quaint.
  16. Wow this is ugly.
  17. It is more that there have been questions about whether all our shortstops would end up at shortstop. I'm talking specifically about the reports on Russell that have nothing to do with the Cubs. They all seemed to have questions on his defense.
  18. Oh goody, another one.
  19. I would bet he doesn't make the cut on most. Here's a 20 that was posted in the minor league forum today: Bryant, Baez, Soler, Tseng, Almora, Vizcaino, Edwards, Rivero, Vogelbach, Bruno, Russell, Alcantara, Schwarber, Torres, McKinney, Johnson, Hendricks, Stinnett, Jimenez, Underwood Who does Black kick out? He's ahead of Bruno and Underwood for me. Bruno is in somebody's top 10?
  20. I knew of Addison Russell prior to the trade and was under the impression he was a top notch defender and hitter. But after reading a lot of these reports on him it seems there were plenty of questions about where he would end up when he was drafted and still questions about his longterm defense at SS. Then, at the same time there seems to be no doubt that the consensus is he's now the team's best answer at the position. Which is it? Are those questions about his glove just nitpicky and/or no longer relevant?
  21. Yeah because nobody ever regrets that type of decision. Good point.
  22. Knowing the plan and actively participating in 90 loss seasons every year are entirely different subjects. Knowing the plan and having a good idea that you are part of that plan does not erase the depressing nature of playing for a team that can't win and isn't even trying to win.
