  1. Kap is a dope but Hollandsworth should know better. He's a terrible human being.
  2. I don't know, but on the beach last week I heard a Phillies fan say the Cubs hadn't run a road series in 5 years. I had to look it up to make sure it wasn't true.
  3. Russell for closer!!! Get him some saves then trade him.
  4. I am arguing against the notion that Barney is [expletive] blocking Olt. Olt had his chance to whip his [expletive] out and do something with it but he blew it. Barney's sucking has nothing to do with Olt's [expletive].
  5. sweet delayed action on that goal
  6. Where at? I recall talk about doing a game at Nationals Park. Would be surprised if Chicago got another outdoor game so soon. They used 11 teams last year. Pittsburgh has done 3 since 2008 and has sort of lost its luster, plus they played Washington the last time. The Rangers played twice last year. Philly might be the next most popular, and nobody cares about them. The Blackhawks might be the biggest draw in the league right now, or they could bring back the Kings. But I wouldn't be surprised if any team that went last year go another so soon. I meant hosting again so soon. It wouldn't surprise me if the Hawks play on the road. They are obviously a huge draw. Oh, well it's already been announced that Washington is hosting next year.
  7. And Edwin Jackson..Can't wait until they dump both those losers..Why the [expletive] don't they just play Valbuena at 2B and Olt at 3B? Either let Olt play or just send him down..Barney is such a [expletive] block. Because Mike Olt is [expletive] terrible at baseball i guess in the end i'll take watching the guy whose minimal positive value comes from dingers over the one who makes the occasional sweet diving stop One's desire for wanting Barney gone should have nothing to do with Olt. They've let him play and he has played poorly, because he's not good.
  8. They control him for 3 more years, don't they?

  11. This started with a comment suggesting the lineup was fine but the pitching staff was what was keeping this team from being competitive. Unless the pitching staff takes a huge nosedrive, they won't be the ones preventing this team from competing. It is still on the lineup to improve. Relying on three newcomers to produce right away, all three at positions they aren't experienced playing, is at least as questionable as anything else about next year's chances to "compete".
  12. stretcher time
  13. This had to be posted with the knowledge that the best fans in baseball would revolt.
  14. Let the Bears pay the Bears tax.
  15. He's gotta be pushing late 30s now right? Is he even any good any more? Haven't heard his name since he left Chicago. He just turned 35, and played a full 82 game season with 37 points and nearly 27m/g. Part of the reason you never hear about him is nobody hears about Florida. Obviously he's not a good candidate for the Blackhawks unless they get some crazy good deal.
  16. I don't see how it is possible to accurately judge how excited you were about something a year ago and then compare it to how you feel about the next thing now, especially when we know how disappointing that thing became.
  17. The pitching staff has been competitive.
  18. Weren't people psyched for the dud 2014 draft a year ago?
  19. http://i.kinja-img.com/gawker-media/image/upload/s--qcxuG5in--/c_fit,fl_progressive,q_80,w_636/772482498234106539.gif
  20. are they playing in fast forward mode?
  21. oooooooooooooooooooooooo, near misses
  22. lol we can probably speculate i guess If we were playing Family Feud and the category was "things that give OMC a boner" and "beautiful women" was already taken, "dead Union soliders" would have been my next guess. I would quit the game.
  23. A little? My read was that it's unclear how that applies to this offseason's FA(partially because of Shark maybe?), but it certainly didn't do anything to change my mind that they won't be going after Scherzer/Lester. There's quite a few players between Scherzer/Lester and the 1 year Feldman/Hammel deals though, and Shark definitely will have an impact on if/how they pursue those guys. As for the finances, I take that to mean the amount available to spend(100 million, give or take) is not going up this offseason, which isn't much of a surprise. That's not the same as 'we still have no money' since to reach that threshold they'd have to spend quite a bit. Was anybody really expecting them to sign a top SP free agent? I mean, that seems obvious to me. A lot of people are obsessing over the perceived need for an ace, but the gameplan seems to me to field a competent pitching staff and then eventually overwhelm with offense. They've done alright picking and choosing arms, but have failed miserably with offense, so they are waiting for the draft picks (and will hopefully sign one or two bats as well).
