  1. I guess I don’t get the premise if Kyle Hendricks is a top 20 asset and Morel is top ten. Hendricks is holding down a spot until better options are ready, and Morel doesn’t have a spot
  2. Kind of surprised they seemingly emphasized experience at DC as well. Very bland hire again, I don’t see any of these guys being high in lists for promotions next season. Stability over all, I’m guessing Eberflus will get 2024 as a pass and be there in 2025 regardless of 2024 result. That should give the next? qb 2 years with the same staff.
  3. Kerry Joseph is new QB coach. The upside of this staff is you don’t have to worry about some other team stealing your young offensive assistants if they are boring 50 year olds
  4. This thread is for firings and conscious uncoupling, hirings should have their own thread
  5. The article is running a feature listing the odds of each team winning one stanley cups over next 5 seasons, starting with the current season. The Blackhawks have zero chance to win this year or next. Probably next to zero in 2026. I expected them to be near the bottom of the list, with maybe a 5-10% chance. nope, they are listed in the top half of the league, with a 14% chance of winning by 2028. 15. Chicago Blackhawks Connor Bedard changes everything here; the moment those ping pong balls dropped, the Hawks were back on a path to another championship. The question is whether they can get there in our five years, especially when this year is a write-off and next year probably will be too. Kyle Davidson has done a masterful job on the teardown part of the rebuild, which is the easy part. How quickly can he surround Bedard with enough talent to compete? Sidney Crosby won a Cup in Year 4; Connor McDavid is still trying to get close in Year 9. If we were doing 10-year windows here, the Blackhawks would be near the top, but five years may not quite be enough. Odds of a Cup in five years: 14 percent
  6. Vic Fangio and dolphins mutually agree to part ways
  7. The regression happened in the 2nd half.
  8. Yeah. It’s no damage. It’s just weird to be so frivolous with mediocre guys. Yes, they still have more spending to get to the cap minimum. And yes they do need some veteran stability. And yes, Mrázek has been a clearly better goalie than the kid and probably every other option available, but when you keep giving out deals twice the value of the player just because you can, it seems silly.
  9. Mrázek or Anderson? Both guys have been discussed as possible in the athletic recently.
  10. Add the packers DC to the growing list of fired coaches
  11. Roster talent disparity in college is much wider than nfl.
  12. Bewildered? That’s odd. There’s plenty of uproar if you want to look for it. Nobody here gives a horsefeathers about Tampa though, so you aren’t going to get much passionate discussion.
  13. Dude is great but everything about the Mummers sucks
  14. The eagles have now booted both coordinators. They are primed to be a team that falls apart in the short term, relying on a top of the line roster making things easy for a less than stellar qb. That works when the QB is cheap, but hurts ain’t cheap anymore. And their one gimmick play stopped working at the end of this season and the guy who made it work retired. On the other hand. Hurts is good enough that the right coordinator may be able to stabilize things and keep them near the top of the league as they go through some roster churn.
  15. Absolutely more than a crapshoot. They’ll probably never get a better chance than with the #1 pick in the 2024 draft. Fields is an average NFL QB, when taking into account all the guys that actually play, but well below the difference makers on successful teams. It’s not that hard to get better than him. Tampa and Detroit did with castoffs. Maybe Fields turns into somebody else’s reclamation success story. Probably not. If they do manage to trade out and surround fields with studs aplenty, they might succeed. But it won’t last, because youll have to pay him more than he’s worth to keep him if he’s so reliant on the supporting cast.
  16. I thought Waldron was the most likely before. He was the first interview and got a little bit of extra attention from media. Poles stressed the need for a guy that can be adaptable to many different QBs. Waldron has worked with a lot of different guys, has the ties to McVay and plenty of play calling experience.
  17. They do now. There isn’t a coaching history but the coaching world is small and they probably know plenty of guys that knows the other.
  18. Yes they are interviewing him. While the OC is probably going to run the offense as his own thing, the DC is more of a situation where Eberflus can and probably should groom a younger guy.
  19. Fair enough. The athletic (Jahns?) speculated the possibility that Waldron could bring Olson as his Qb coach/passing game coordinator and Brown as RB/running game coordinator. That would provide a deep bench of experienced offensive coaches that could provide stability in the (unlikely?) event that the offense shines and Waldron gets HC opportunities in 2025 or 2026.
  20. Phase 3 profit
  21. One of the less inspiring names on the list, but certainly a competent option. First thought is this increases the odds of Fields returning a small amount, as he’s a guy that can supposedly resurrect a flawed qb. But Poles may just like to use that thought process as leverage for trade options.
  22. If I was NE I wouldn’t be happy with that trade
  23. Blackhawks beat islanders in OT last night and Islanders fire their coach today. Blackhawks have a little of the bears stink on ‘em.
