  1. Trestman was here for 2 years and had 2 years remaining when fired.
  2. It is a little interesting, and I think the storyline of Fox being a transitional coach has some legs. But he's turning 60 soon and a 4-year contract seems perfectly reasonable. Trestman signed a 4-year deal. Fox is very similar to Lovie and his deal was for 4 years.
  3. My prediction Caller: Do you think Fox wants to keep Cutler as his quarterback? Bernstein: Forget about Cutler. Forget about this year. This isn't about the next year or Cutler or anybody about any Bears player. That isn't important. These guys are going to focus on the process going forward.
  4. SEVENTY FIVE ‏@Ky1eLong 8m8 minutes ago Met Coach Fox night before I participated in the combine in passing at dinner. Now he's my coach. Was a very likable dude!! Let's roll
  5. And Kyle is more knowledgeable than other message board posters. Yeah. Think about it.
  6. Ok then. I think the question of money is very meaningful to the would they cut him question.
  7. There's a big difference between potential cap ramifications and status of guaranteed money. If they want him gone and can get rid of him at little to no cost, the relatively small cap hit in 2015 will not be a huge problem. Yes definitely a difference between actual money and cap hit. I thought we were looking at the latter only. Most NFL contracts can be walked away from with the former. Anyways the guaranteed portion of 2015 makes little difference to the Bears if there is indeed a trade market for him. UK made the point that they don't owe him if they cut him and you said it wasn't true and they would have to pay him $6m.
  8. Kyle Long is trying to stay away from twitter, but he can't do it.
  9. Brad Biggs retweeted Jay Glazer ‏@JayGlazer 3m3 minutes ago Just spoke to John Fox, still trying to hammer out an agreement with Bears. Incredibly excited to get this done

  11. That's not true re Marshall. I think they'll eat roughly 6 of his 9 M to cut him. Same to trade him. Right...they still have money that they'd have to pay him, but they do save money by cutting him. reports on that vary. I've seen that 2015 has a guarantee but also that the money is only guaranteed to injury, so a healthy Marshall could theoretically be cut for nothing.
  12. Everybody predicted Fox to the Bears once he was gone from Denver. Everybody predicted Trestman was gone. These guys were wishy washy on Emery whenever I listened and then acted as though they knew it was coming all along. This Fox hiring actually goes against everything they said after the firings. They were saying forget about next year. Forget about the next couple years. This isn't about the short-term. Hiring an old man with quick turnaround histories is all about the short-term. This is an investment in the now, which refutes everything the "do it the right way" Bernstein has been on about.
  13. The Ravens have nothing to be pissed about. He's already turned down other options and they have another personnel guy turning down offers.
  14. Mark Gonzales ‏@MDGonzales 1m1 minute ago Cubs, OF Chris Coghlan agree to one-year, $2.505 million contract.
  15. Cardale is returning to OSU
  16. dafuq? is he related to luol deng? based on brett's recollection of media guide listings, which are notoriously inaccurate.
  17. anyway, this is boring, I am bored, stop boring me
  18. That's not broad at all. You had the Giants winning twice as outliers and that is it.
  19. Are there many flukey, shouldn't even be there NHL teams winning the Stanley cup? Seems to me that despite the added hurdle of needing to win more and longer series, the past 8 or so in a row have all be excellent teams. While you get the occasional 8 seed, it's often the case that it was actually a great team that didn't have a great season (LAK). You had almost an entire decade where only Detroit, Colorado and New Jersey won all the cups. You've had the same 5 dominant teams controlling the Cup for the past several years. I think people in general overplay the crapshoot storyline. MLB is probably the most and it's not even a true crapshoot.
  20. Of course, why wouldnt anybody? Just curious. Some folks could actually want to stick with Jay. An "eye towards moving on" is just that, an eye. It does not mean they will, should or can move on. If Jay is back this year, and things go well, why wouldn't you plan on sticking with him longer term? You should draft QBs all the time, regardless of your feelings toward the guy currently on the roster.
  21. Carrie Muskat ‏@CarrieMuskat · 9m9 minutes ago #Cubs avoid arbitration with @theRealDubi22, signing him to 1 yr, $1.925 million contract.
  22. Getting way way ahead of myself here... With Gase getting so much hype as a HC candidate this time around but apparently being passed over by all teams, what will his next candidacy look like? I'm thinking best case scenario is he does a great job with Cutler and becomes Fox's de facto heir. But with all the hype this time around I would expect other teams to come calling as early as next year. If they stumble and get nothing out of the remaining Cutler era, he will need to hit on the next QB and offensive system before he gets another shot as a HC candidate.
  23. The two conferences thing does not matter, but the two super bowl things is at least notable and not worthy of your robotic scorn.
  24. A mobile Andy Dalton as his floor makes me think people need to seriously rethink their concept of what a floor is.
