    That's not broad at all. You had the Giants winning twice as outliers and that is it.

    Are there many flukey, shouldn't even be there NHL teams winning the Stanley cup? Seems to me that despite the added hurdle of needing to win more and longer series, the past 8 or so in a row have all be excellent teams. While you get the occasional 8 seed, it's often the case that it was actually a great team that didn't have a great season (LAK). You had almost an entire decade where only Detroit, Colorado and New Jersey won all the cups. You've had the same 5 dominant teams controlling the Cup for the past several years. I think people in general overplay the crapshoot storyline. MLB is probably the most and it's not even a true crapshoot.

    Of course, why wouldnt anybody? Just curious. Some folks could actually want to stick with Jay. An "eye towards moving on" is just that, an eye. It does not mean they will, should or can move on. If Jay is back this year, and things go well, why wouldn't you plan on sticking with him longer term? You should draft QBs all the time, regardless of your feelings toward the guy currently on the roster.

    Getting way way ahead of myself here... With Gase getting so much hype as a HC candidate this time around but apparently being passed over by all teams, what will his next candidacy look like? I'm thinking best case scenario is he does a great job with Cutler and becomes Fox's de facto heir. But with all the hype this time around I would expect other teams to come calling as early as next year. If they stumble and get nothing out of the remaining Cutler era, he will need to hit on the next QB and offensive system before he gets another shot as a HC candidate.

    The two conferences thing does not matter, but the two super bowl things is at least notable and not worthy of your robotic scorn.

    A mobile Andy Dalton as his floor makes me think people need to seriously rethink their concept of what a floor is.

Collins does a lot of his best work near the line of scrimmage, but he can certainly be effective playing off the line as a guy who anticipates well, makes good reads and takes proper angles. He comes in with a lot of experience, and for a defense that was such a mess, I like taking a player who offers a lot of versatility and won't need to come off the field much. I know cornerback is a need even after they used a first-round pick there last year, but I'm not sold on the value this high, and, given Chicago's litany of needs on D, they should go for the best player who can help them soon. Collins fits.

    With the exception of Kubiak every name they have been in on has been underwhelming to me. Those Baltimore guys really left us hanging this offseason. I think Fox has the highest floor out of all the guys. I guess that's worth something. If your goal is to compete this year, he has to have the least downside of the guys remaining right?     It seems to me that those candidates are primarily defensive coordinators though.

    He and Elway didn't get along. And he has a relationship with Accorsi. I just don't get why anyone would be running to the Bears job right now unless money is a factor. The organization is terrible and completely in flux, the roster is old, and they might not have a QB next season because the fans want to run the good QB out of town. Presumably he could ask the GM if he wanted to keep that QB and then if the answer satisfied him, the guy probably would not concern himself with stupid fans (and Dan Bernstein organizational overhaul 5-year plan idiocy). A strong case can be made that the Bears are much more talented than a 5-11 team should be and with a couple moves and competent coaching could be able to contend in 2015.

    I do not understand this line. Are they saying Fox asked Elway what his contract status was, or if he had plans to fire him? They seem to be hinting that after the game Fox called somebody involved with the Bears and asked if he could have the job.

    They are free to look elsewhere. That is standard procedure when a HC departs.
