  1. It's what I'm expecting and I will be pretty disappointed. Nothing says "organizational change from mediocrity" like hiring guys who were a part of the organization during their mediocrity. Those guys were part of the organization when they were good. Good? How many rings do they have to show for it? Hell how many playoff appearances? They were not good enough then and likely would not be good enough now. Hahahaha. Are you drunk? Lots of angry drunks in pittstown tonight. They don't have titles. Lots of good teams don't have titles. Mediocrity is something below what those Bears teams were. Those teams were good, not great. You know this. Although they were great one year.

  3. He ran a pretty good team and got the most out of a middling quarterback then all was lost when that qb turned back into a pumpkin. They jumped from 2 wins to 9 wins this season while using Case Keenum for awhile. Kubiak is a terrible coach. They win 12 two years ago.

  5. yep, they promoted Roseman out of power and are giving Kelly the power to hire "his boss". The successful head coach always wins a power struggle. No point in being dedicated to the CEO/Pres/GM/Coach hierarchy.
  6. I think the point is that "traditional" methods would not work in his favor.
  7. Knowing that I know nothing about hockey strategy..., is Teuvo too similar to Kane to pare them together?
  8. Chris Kuc ‏@ChrisKuc 4m4 minutes ago #Blackhawks recall forward Teuvo Teravainen from Rockford.
  9. Jason La CanforaVerified account ‏@JasonLaCanfora Back at Oregon people have heard how upset Chip Kelly is and how he wants out of Philly w/3yrs left on his deal, can he rattle enuff chains?
  10. What was he before? He went from Director of Pro Personnel to Director of Player Personnel and I assume the difference involves the level of involvement/responsibility with the college scouting/draft portion of the job.
  11. Adam Schefter ‏@AdamSchefter 39s39 seconds ago Packers have promoted Eliot Wolf to director of player personnel.
  12. No thanks. But I wonder if Gamble would extend that Kelly relationship to the current Oregon coach.
  13. Derwood knows all about supporting hated schools, just not hated schools with good football teams.
  14. Advanced metrics are fine. But that's not how the teams are picked. The way the teams are currently picked for the playoffs, FSU was clearly one of the 4 teams that deserved to be in. I don't have a problem with FSU being in the playoff, I'm just answering your question. By virtue of a pretty crazy series of close wins against a middling schedule they were an undefeated power conference champion. They should have been one of the 4 teams even if on paper they're closer to 10 than 4. And their indignant fans really made a show of ignoring any evidence that they were not good and are hateable. #FSUtwitter
  15. At this point I am really confused what it is you think is being argued. FSU was almost unquestionably not a top 4 team this year. They made the most headlines in the most egregious manner this year from a scummy factor.
  16. Agreed. Still doesn't explain hating them more than Ohio St (coached by Urban Meyer mind you) or any Nick Saban coached team. I think an FSU/Bama matchup would have changed the hate meter significantly. But you've answered your own question already with the Winston raped a girl and got away with it story. He's the face of the team and raped a girl but got away with a little help from friends of the program.
  17. I don't see how you can say they "clearly deserved" to be one. But I think everybody hates them because they have so many run-ins with the law and are the quintessential small town cops protect the football team organization. They are in Florida, which is another strike. And they kind of lucked their way into an undefeated season which forced people into begrudgingly allowing them to participate in the tourny. Lucked into? How so? I think it has been pointed out on this site the multiple instances where they pulled off last minute/weak wins this year and that all evidence pointing toward them being worse than their record would indicate. Although I don't pay close attention to college football and may have the details wrong.
  18. I sold you on Kubiak. uhhhhhhhhhhhh
  19. The fact that bama and FSU made OSU and Oregon into sympathetic figures in comparison speaks volumes about the joy of a good hate.

  21. I thought he said he was not interested in a HC position. Kubiak may have no interest in Cutler, he left Denver before they selected Jay. Could be wrong but I thought it was just a report that he didn't want to give it any consideration while the Ravens were still in the playoffs. Yea it was a little unclear overall, but you have to imagine with the right compensation he'd make the jump. He may not have a direct Jay connection but he turned around Flacco a ton this year. Hard to imagine he would think he can't replicate that success with Jay. Wasn't Flacco already elite?

Could be wrong but I thought it was just a report that he didn't want to give it any consideration while the Ravens were still in the playoffs. Good, because he's still my preference. But I really don't know and can't predict how the GM thing will affect the coaching hire.
