Forget about specific teams- I think the MLB is the only one with even a 100 year history (maybe NHL too). Yeah, I figured the 100 year thing brings to mind Yankees, Red Sox and Cubs. The Cubs and 100 years are kind of linked on a national level.

It's weird coming from a site that loves to hate the Cardinals....because they're good. I mean...I love the Hawks and hate the Cards too, but their reasoning isn't very consistent. Whoa whoa whoa. That's not an accurate description of what is going on here. Deadspin hates the Cardinals because of the snobby, presumptuous holier than though attitude of the fan base and those media members that feed that mindset with "Americana" inspired gibberish. They don't hate them for being good. When Blackhawks fans starting talking like Cardinals fans, that will cause a problem.

There's no reason for anybody that is not a Cardinals fan to have any interest in the Cardinals, let alone love them. There's nothing to engage about. This is Cardinals fans finding it too difficult to fellate themselves and trying to convince others to do it for them while pretending they never tried to do it themselves in the first place.

The Blackhawks are too good to hate sounds like an article titled specifically to get people to hate the Blackhawks.

I mean, I agree with him and think this points to some of the flaws in the framing assumptions (in short, the umps sucks are biased and give the benefit of the doubt to established players / traditionally good teams), but nothing good can come of this. He's running the risk of getting suspended and this probably only pits the umps against him and the Cubs.

As discussed in either a Cubs or the Bulls thread I dont think Chicago fans can criticize other cities for going dead silent at the first sign of doom. The Crawford chants were idiotic considering the game situation though. they were also very loud at various other times not mentioned.

"Framing" requires the interpretation of fat old white men with GIGANTIC egos and very thin skin. There is more that goes into their interpretation of the zone than how well the catcher frames the pitch.

he's been college scouting director for three years. In other words, he worked with Emery when he was here a long time ago, lasted through Angelo regime and Emery kept him on board. He was just a scout before.

Yeah, I would have done pretty much the exact same thing, assuming White was the pick in the 1st. I would have drafted Beasley, but have no qualms about White being the pick. All those picks 2-5 were easily the best players on the board, without character concerns, IMO (which I think was clearly the focus). And I'm not a Clemmings fan at all. Had him with an early to mid 3rd grade. I probably would have picked Ifo in the 6th, but C is definitely a much bigger need. Feels like the Grasu pick is getting the most talk one way or the other. I love it, and I thick we will look back and wonder how he dropped to the 3rd Rnd. I also think White over Beasley was the right call. I get that you can never have enough speed rushers in any defense, especially the 3-4. But White looks like a potential superstar, and the tape on him shows that he is a hard worker with a nasty streak. Beasley looks like he doesn't get involved against the run, which bothers me. I'm not sure we're going to wonder how he dropped to the third. He's a center and no super star. He was taken where he should have been taken. But there is no question in my mind that the Bears needed to draft O line in the top half of the draft and I am glad they addressed it. Long was the only longterm option on the roster. Everybody else is either 30+ or a plataued second rate guy (Mills). They are going into the third straight year with 4 of the same 5 guys and only turnover at center. They will probably have to draft tackle early next year as well.
