  1. One is a pending free agent that a city is hoping will be around for another contract... Curtain calls happen. Heyward got one on his first HR as a Cardinal, and Bryant will get one when he hits one at Wrigley. Taking shots at either fan base for liking their players is kind of silly. The Cardinals fans think they are awesome for doing it. Therein lies the issue.
  2. sure you didn't list that out of order?
  3. i've been to 5 already FFS also went to a wedding and on a date for drinks over the weekend yesterday all day i felt like i was on my way back from a trip to vegas or something. i've never looked forward to the work week starting so much. drinks sound pretty risky, you should have gone out for a BYTE http://media.giphy.com/media/ekkoFrBIIZOFO/giphy.gif
  4. wasn't Bryant quoted as calling it a disco?
  5. I'd like it if they just played this after every win
  6. disagreeing with calling him addy is not an old man thing. I know somebody with a daughter named Addison and the mother is constantly calling her Addy and it is incredibly grating on the ears. Addison Russell is no Addy.
  7. depends on who the hell addy is and why the hell anybody would call anything addy.
  8. It was his first HR as a Cardinal. I'm aware of that. Still unnecessary and dumb. Montero didn't get a curtain call yesterday and that one actually gave the Cubs the lead. When Bryant hits his first HR at Wrigley the curtain call will be long and loud. The Cubs could be up or down by 14 and it won't matter. Nor should it. apples and oranges
  9. No one's saying it's predictive, but making Ross a punching bag without actually playing poorly yet makes even less sense. That's a lot like Dusty's insistence on seeing established bad players actually play poorly for him before determining they were not good. It makes more sense to criticize his presence on the roster based on his resume than shoosh the criticism based on a couple walks in a handful of PA.
  10. not being impressed by his gifted walks is not the same as wishing he's swing away more often.
  11. I hope he adjusts immediately and helps the Chicago Cubs win game as soon as possible.
  12. Not until Bryant loses prospect status. Arguable Russell has a higher floor and lower ceiling than Bryant, it's generally agreed. Whether one thinks that makes Russell better is open to argument. I can't wait to get Russell up here. That'll be about as big a day as Bryant for me. I'm not sure about that. Position matters a lot. He has a hell of a ceiling. Position does matter and being a SS makes it "easier" for Russell's offense to make him far more valuable. However, the last time I checked 3B was about on the same level as 2B in terms of expected production, and if Bryant can keep playing third and hits like a star, his ceiling is incalculable.

  16. SAN JOSE — The San Jose Sharks (@sanjosesharks) and Todd McLellan have mutually agreed to part ways. In related moves, Assistant Coaches Jim Johnson and Jay Woodcroft, and Video Coordinator Brett Heimlich have been relieved of their duties. Associate Coach Larry Robinson moved into his full-time role of director of player development at the conclusion of the 2014-15 regular season. “I want to thank Todd and his staff for their years of service to the San Jose Sharks organization,” said Wilson. “Sometimes a change is best for all parties involved but nothing will take away from what Todd and his staff accomplished here over the last seven seasons.” “San Jose will always hold a special place for me and my family,” said McLellan. “I would like to thank Doug and the Sharks organization for allowing me the opportunity to coach at the National Hockey League level. While we both agree that a change is in the best interest of myself and the team, I’m proud of what we accomplished as an organization.” McLellan, named head coach of the Sharks on June 12, 2008, leaves as the Sharks franchise leader in wins (311), games coached (540) and points percentage (.637), with an overall record of 311-163-66. In that span, the team captured three Pacific Division titles (2008-09, 2009-10, 2010-11) and one Presidents’ Trophy (2008-09). During his tenure, the Sharks made seven appearances in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, including two appearances in the Conference Final (2010, 2011) and played in 11 playoff rounds, with an overall record of 30-32.

  19. I was out to dinner with friends. When I got back the other thread was already up. On a related note, The Jackal is a pretty shitty movie even though it has a fun Jack Black scene and silly Bruce Willis disguises. Bloated Bruce is my favorite.
  20. Reading for context is important, Logan. At first I thought this meant Schwarber went 5-5 with 3 walks and I was like "8 AB's WTF?" Plate appearances
  21. For real not in the lineup for either of these double header games? **edit nm I guess he did play in the first one. Seems like they could have put him in left for the second game, I guess catching could be pretty taxing on your body makes some sense to take the second game off. If they are doing intensive framing practice with him it probably makes sense to not have him playing catcher every day. That's a lot of time squatting without the games.
  22. Oh I thought wrigley for some reason. All that decade stuff last year is still in my head. They should do steroids to honor the era.
