I do not agree with this sentiment. There are pros and cons. Ross is obviously far inferior to Miggy with the bat, but he's a better thrower to bases, which could help with Lester pitching. I wish we were facing a lefty so Ross would at least stand some chance of being useful at the plate, but it's fine. I'm sure Joe will immediately PH Montero if/when Lester comes out. That's also one of the many values of having Schwarber. You don't have to be afraid of subbing in Montero and risking being out of catchers. Schwarber himself is at risk of getting replaced defensively though. My guess is Ross stays in as long as the Cubs have a lead, but come the last 3 innings we'll see Montero PH for Ross or a pitcher if they're chasing the game. Well presumably they would only replace Schwarber for defensive purposes if they have the lead and are not in need of offense. But if they do need offense then he will stay in and Montero can also bat for Ross.
