  1. I guess you've missed the Lackey narrative on the site this year. Guess so. I originally disliked the Lackey signing not from a "I don't like the acquisition" perspective but instead a "how can I root for this person" one, but he's grown on me. much like a shark regrows teeth whenever its loses them while eating a seal
  2. https://www.instagram.com/p/BLuP6BkjJ2x/ Need a cat fight to liven the mood
  3. my wife makes a chicken tortilla that is very much a different animal from this.
  4. I make the chili like I normally would, then sear the pork and throw it in for several hours. I usually make it in the morning on a Sunday and it cooks throughout the first games and is ready for around halftime of the second games. My typical recipe is very similar to what Drew Magary once wrote about and reposts every year. But I have more beans and more types of beans. Kidney, white, black you name it. The can of corn and chicken broth were both valuable additions I hadn't considered before reading his recipe. http://deadspin.com/5882376/the-drew-magary-super-bowl-chili-recipe
  5. I like to make it with ground beef (or turkey if you want) but then add something like a seared pork shoulder for an almost pulled pork aspect to it.
  6. Yea , I mean, one year isnt going to ruin a guy if thats how it goes down. Question is when you draft a guy. Fox obviously has a little over half the season the right the ship, but he'd have to finish at least .500 from here on out to make any case to fans right? One year could easily ruin a qb.
  7. I agree with everything, chili without beans is for the weak, just like football w/o touchdowns.
  8. This video perfectly captures why I have no interest in going to Bears/NFL games anymore. Two dopes getting into a fist fight over different colored shirts. I mean, that happens at every sporting event at some point but it's incredibly easy to go to an opposing team's stadium with your team's clothing and avoid anything remotely close to a fight. Those were just two idiots that went into the day with a desire to fight. If you aren't like that, that won't happen. It's also not a "anymore" type situation, since stupid drunk fans fighting is a tale as old as time.
  9. my daughter was annoyed at me for watching a game on the tv while also looking at my phone. I'm going to have to stop doing that until she's asleep.
  10. Short week to recover from a classic John Fox statement game: punt inside opponents side of field, let them drive down field, hold tight to a 2 score lead and keep timeouts in your pocket as you refuse to try to score more and eventually lose Last year's team lost a lot of games where they actually looked halfway decent. That fooled some people into thinking this team had a chance to win a lot of games this year but their weaknesses have been fully exposed, from top to bottom. The Bears are in full "it's best to lose to increase their draft position" mode but the GM is 0-2 with first round picks and we are almost certain to need a coaching staff turnover before this team starts winning again (if ever). The big thing to keep an eye on, besides if Cutler returns, is this game coincides with game 5 of NLCS and the next one falls between a theoretical game 5 and 6 of the World Series. Also Bears are 9 point underdogs against a team that may be on the outside looking in come playoff time.
  11. Speaking of old Theriot, he is a sidekick on a local sports radio show here. Complete redneck doofus. This week he's doing shows in full Ryan Theriot Cubs uniform, spikes and everything. forget that BS, he lost his Cubs privileges years ago
  12. sorry about the loss I was at a wedding and then driving up for last few innings. My fault.
  13. Hoyer's not a great playmaker, but i dont know what else you can ask for. He's been good. Uhhhhhhhh, no peg
  14. Sometimes OMC rubs people the wrong way with his lawyerly affection for history, the confederacy and libertarianism. But then he does something like this and TOTALLY REDEEMS HIMSELF!!!
  15. so if dodgers lose game 1, Kershaw in game 2, if they win game 1, do they hold him back to game 3?
  16. why are people expressing surprise that kershaw was looking at that game as a side session? that was obviously the strategy. it's a reckless and dumb strategy but, still obvious.
  17. I think it speaks to the idea of just how inefficient the Cubs old ways were. They were always looking for the athlete/upside guy with little organizational thought to the true baseball value of the full roster. If one guy hit they'd pat themselves on their back and then take 10 more guys that failed.
  18. Your point stands, although I'm not sure I'd say Bochy is the one that made them contenders.
  19. good, now vasgersian can go back in my baseball video game
  20. because, hey, look at me! Which was cool when he was just being a goof and wanted to be a T-Rex or whatever. He increasingly just had an axe to grind or something. he clearly wants to work in media and it looks like he's taking his cue from the be controversial and yell stuff style. It also has about a zero percent chance of backfiring since he's on the patriots and the bears are on the bears and there's no way they show up him.
