  1. No, you're way off. Fix didn't build teams, he coached them. Entirely different. He's not building the Bears, pace is. Hendry was a terribly inefficient gm who did a very bad job. Making 3 playoffs in 10 years was not an accomplishment in the wild card era regardless of Cubs history. His record was abysmal and he sucked.
  2. this is so ridiculous Fox is a coach, he's built nothing. Hendry had as much power and money as a gm could hope to have. He did what he wanted and failed.
  3. they've been acting like a big market team since the 90's so I'm not sure how that theory holds
  4. PH homeruns here we come [tweet] [/tweet]
  5. As in tomorrow or to take some warm ups now to see if he can go? like, right now well, not now, then
  6. He denied making those statements. Those reports happen all the time. For all we know Fox had that story planted in an effort to pressure Pace to do one of two things: 1) He wants out but wants to keep the money owed so he needs Pace to fire him. 2) He wants to stay and is daring Pace to fire a coach and allow Cutler to start fresh with his 15th coach, knowing it won't happen. Then again, maybe it's a made up story.
  7. boy the battle for biggest career drop off among formerly great baseball writers is intense, but neyer is right up there. I read most of his stuff on espn multiple times in the 90s and never missed a chat. he was awesome. but man he is certifiably terrible now. Is it him getting worse or the fact that there's so much good content out there now? He doesn't even really provide content, and just has a mind boggingly stupid thing to say every month or so.
  8. well according to rob neyer the only solution is to trade rizzo
  9. Won't be a game 7 so only see him once more. which I also believe, but I don't understand why people think it's such a good thing that Francona would ride him like that if it does happen to go 7. he doesn't have to be as dominating as he was last night to still be really [expletive] good I'll take my chances on such a situation, with this lineup, any day.
  10. He's the ideal pinch hitting candidate and it's not like the lineup was weak without him.
  11. He's just a phenomenal talent. Just the threat of him hitting is now enough to justify the decision to roster him.
  12. Yeah sorry I might have jumped the gun based on fringe sources. I just needed something to spice things up while watching the Cubs game. hahaha, I didn't even notice this was posted last night. ya goober. no bears talk during world series time.
  13. Whoa. Edit- If twitter is to be believed they're talking a 3rd and/or 4th and thats with Alshon agreeing to an extension? Ew. these reports seem highly questionable at the moment. The closest they got is somebody who works with WIP saying they are working on it.
  14. so that would be punting on 2017
  15. http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=847&position=2B/OF Scroll all the way down to the section titled "value" What am I missing? Soriano had a 6.7 fWAR in his first season with the Cubs, Heyward 1.6... Btw I don't know how this got to me defending Soriano, as I never said he didn't deserve his criticism. Just that Heyward deserves the same. That's the problem. Soriano didn't deserve criticism. He lived up to his contract. The Cubs are in the freaking World Series, stop focusing on punishment for the guys having bad seasons and enjoy the moment.
  16. okay, calm down. The Cubs are in the world series, let's not focus so much on making targeting the guys who are having a bad season. And yes, the fact that they are in the world series is a very good reason for heyward to escape the vitriol, along with the stupidity of the vitriol toward Soriano and Cutler in the first place.
  17. if its' not scottish it's crap
  18. Hiring Dusty. Hiring Emery. Trading for Rick Mirer. Keeping the Blackhawks off TV, whatever the Bulls have been doing the past 20 years. Javy made his mark as a less-than-full-time player this year and while I would want him in the lineup, I would not judge these guys for holding him back against the tough right hander for PH opportunities later in game 1. It would hardly be a stupid decision, let alone a top 5 stupid.
