  1. Athletics latest draft ranking is out, with these fellas at the top
  2. Lots of smoke that Sanders will fall to 21. But they can choose between Rodgers and Wilson if they want
  3. Probably LB but they don’t matter. A good d line needs a ton of guys every game to be successful. An OL can always home to play the same 5 guys every snap, it won’t happen but it’s achievable. The OL sits at 5 serviceable or better starters. The DL now also has 5? But need like 7/8 in the rotation. Id still vote for OL though as their interior is old and with injury questions and we still don’t like our LT.
  4. Posted an hour ago, about three posts up fyi
  5. Positional need in draft pretty much a non issue at this point. They should get an OL, DL, RB, TE and/or WR with their top 4, but could go in a variety of ways. OL and DL remain necessary as these old guys are all going to be gone in 2 years.
  6. Mack would probably be more impactful in 2025 but this seems like a better use of resources, going younger and betting on upside. Slightly cheaper cap hit, two years guaranteed.
  7. Jets should have traded for him two years ago. A great defense could have carried his ass into a playoff spot.
  8. From Mark Lazarus on blue sky, Artyom indeed in. He's paired with Alec Martinez. Jason Dickinson returns to the lineup. He'll be on Connor Bedard's wing, with Colton Dach on the other side. Spencer Knight starts. Sörensen likes the idea of Levshunov making his debut against an elite, fast team like the Avalanche. "Yeah, let's get after it. This is the NHL, right? You want to be in the NHL, you're gonna play the best."
  9. Seattle gets Darnold 3/110
  10. They have a center
  11. The athletics latest mock has only cam ward going top ten, with sanders falling to late in the first with jets trading up for him. Jeanty goes to bears at 10, then Kenneth Grant- DT Michigan at 39 and Aireontae Ersery - OT Minnesota 41. They end it in the third round with bears taking Princely Umanmielen - Edge Ole Miss. Positionally that would be fine with me. Top player at his position who can make an impact on offense in the first. Likely year one contributors on the lines in 2nd and 3rd
  12. Blackhawks call up Arty. He’s 19, was called up earlier but only to practice with the NHL team during AHL all star break. Their top prospect could slot in with Vlasic as the top pairing. Curious if he stays up the rest of the way or if this is just another taste of NHL for the kid. And also wonder if this is part of their draft evaluation for this year, because there is the chance they have opportunity to take a franchise DMan with first overall pick, who would slot ahead of every D they have in a deep D class. If they feel their guys are enough maybe they decide to go F no matter what. But if they have doubts about Arty, and Schaefer’s available to them, they have to consider it.
  13. Freaking Foligno good guy and all but this team won’t win until he’s done being Captain Default
  14. Also, anybody worth anywhere near 8m isn’t taking a one year deal to play on a lottery team. You might (but probably won’t) be able to convince a $8m guy to take one year for a chance at the cup but not to keep a seat warm on a losing team.
  15. In other words, they already have Teuvo and Bertuzzi (and Foligno/Dickinson/Mikheyev) making multi millions and don’t need a middle sixer. They need a top line guy and have plenty of space to get one.
  16. There probably would be some second tier guy they could overpay (like all the 3rd/4th line guys they’ve overpaid the past two years) but then that guy would be on the roster and taking the space of a kid on an entry level contract you’d rather see play. Weber allows them to reach the floor more easily while keeping spots for Dach, Nazar, Slaggert, etc
  17. It’s kind of exactly like the Carroll hire was for them, the road to respectability rather than a run at contending. for Seattle they are moving an older guy in the last year of his contract they probably didn’t want to extend on his terms. And are expected to try and get Darnold who is a different younger version of the pumpkin that is Geno Smith.
  18. Geno Smith to raiders is interesting seattle realizing a nice story doesn’t really mean much when it comes to title hopes. Oakland being Oakland
  19. He signed for much less 8/96 vs 8/112. Two million less per
  20. Rantanan signed to 8 years with 12m in average annual value with Dallas which is pretty reasonable and something he probably only accepted because Dallas offers a shot at the cup and Chicago would not.
  21. They managed to trade away Mrazek, which is nice. Along with Craig Smith. They get back a 4th line center in Joe Velona from Detroit
  22. If he signs an extension, yeah, not good. But not back breaking as he wasn’t a particularly likely acquisition anyway. While a FA signing remains the most simple way to acquire a difference maker, I still think a trade is what’s going to happen. The bottom line is they have too much depth and draft picks. There simply is not enough roster spots to efficiently use all the guys and future guys they will have on the roster in 2027 and beyond. There is a glut of middle six and bottom six guys and zero impact forwards. I think this years first round pick should be a huge asset to acquire somebody else’s Brandon Hagel.
  23. I’m not a fan of bringing in unproductive players that coaches worked with before, but hoping it’s dirt cheap contract and Johnson is better at this than all the other guys that suck at it.
