Yea, if there's something getting them back in the first it's both 2nds. Would it be just the 2nds or 2nds +? I don’t know pick values too well. Depends on how high up in the 1st, but the two 2nds should get you into the 1st all by themselves.

Because they have a need at multiple positions, but limited picks, including only 3 in the top four rounds. So if you theoretically trade down from the 2nd into the 3rd and pick up a 4th and now instead of 3 picks in the first four rounds you have 4 picks in the first four rounds. Ok. I guess thats a move I wouldn’t make. I would rather have both 2nds considering we have no 1st round picks, with the idea that the first 2nd rounder is my 1st (Im likely picking a pos of need for an athlete who fell out of the first who fits that need). Since we have multiple needs, there should be someone who fits that mold. The 2nd 2nd rounder would, in effect, be my 2nd rd talent pick - or if I got lucky another 1st rd level talent who fell. You’re stuck with 4-7’s after that, but they have 6 picks in those rounds. Id go quantity at that point If you stay in the 2nd you have to go BPA, regardless of position. The bulk of the value in the higher picks is the opportunity to take BPA, not guys you think can fill a certain need, like Adam Shaheen.

I've liked Scooter as a target all offseason. He was really good at the plate in each of his previous two healthy seasons. Given our roster, he's a really logical risk. -
Pitchers don't suck at hitting because they don't work on it enough, they suck at it because hitting his hard and pitching gets better and better. Scrappy McJunkball could scratch out a hit or two against the scrubs that pitched in yesteryear, not because he put in the time and effort.

For decades, the single most important decision that a manager has to make during a game has been what to do with his starting pitcher coming up to the plate in a close game. Which tells you how unimportant the managers role is during a game. Also, it should read, "that a manager had to make". That's 1982 baseball you're talking about. It's gone. Baseball isn't a game of in game strategy. The level of decision making is checkers compared to the front office's chess.

The mythological strategy is a thing that happens maybe once a game every few games. In almost every game, the pitcher is pulled in the 6th and every time his spot comes up they use a pinch hitter. That's not strategy, it's commoditized resource utilization, and it's dull as hell.

Woo hoo, the DH is fun and awesome. This is great, instead of pretending there is something strategic about letting a crappy hitter hit, I get to watch guys who know how to hit actually hit.

Cincy doesn't have to become division contenders to alter the season, they just need to become relatively competent against teams other than the Cubs this year. -
Wasn't Ortiz only listed on the 2003 "anonymous" test that has been picked apart and legitimacy questioned? ARod was suspended twice and admitted to taking PEDs so he was a blatant violator. But yeah if Ortiz avoids getting dinged for only being on that 2003 report and strongly denying it, why isn't Sammy afforded the same courtesy? Sosa's career WAR is slightly higher, played a position his entire career and all his HOF markers are higher than Ortiz's. And if Ortiz really was juicing in 2003, that coincides with his career taking off. Who knows when Sosa might have started taking PEDs but he was an All Star and finished in the top 20 of MVP voting 3 times before the 1998 season. I guess the biggest differences are 1) the corked bat establishes a pattern of cheating for Sosa, 2) By being part of the peak steroid era and one of the people involved in the 98 HR race Sosa will always be looked at as one of the main faces of that era and 3) Ortiz is widely considered a good guy that sportswriters love. David Ortiz is widely considered to be a huge [expletive].

I saw on TV that he's the 3rd heaviest player in the NBA at 285. Like I can't figure out that he's just that fat or that they're lying on TV cuz there has to be more than 2 guys in the NBA that weighs more. In the same breath the broadcasters said Zion gained 8 lbs of muscle in a week, so take all of that for what it's worth. End of the day, Zion is fat. Then again he's only 19, so he can probably shed it pretty quickly. If you haven't begun shedding fat as a 19 year old athlete, chances are not good that you will begin at 20.

Pick the youngest guy you can each year and start with your bench and bottom three BP spots, then work your way up from there. Alternatively, pick dead guys and get 40-man roster exemptions.
