  1. Have you ever played goalie? Better yet, can you even skate? Goalie takes years to learn. A hard puck moving at 100 mph towards your grill will freak 99% of the population out, not to mention having to brace yourself in a perfect position while on two blades of steel. Literally any other position is easier to learn. I can ice skate and I used to play roller hockey, and I had friends that played fairly competatively in high school and college. You can't tell me that probably half of their roster has some experience playing goalie when they were young. And THEY are the ones used to having 100 mph pucks shot at them, and that's without a goalie mask. Not sure that the rec leagues that these 40 year old, ex-college goalies are getting their reps in has prepared them for NHL slapshots. All that said, I can buy that they would fare better than Joe 4th line defender, but I'm most curious how teams were allowed to use non-rostered players in the first place. Every kid on our mite team rotates through goalie, and our best skaters are the absolute worst at goalie. By the time they are 10 they will either play goalie or not. But having experience as a 12 year old and then suiting back up as a 25 year old is night and day. https://thehockeynews.com/news/article/the-inside-story-on-the-oddity-that-is-the-emergency-backup-goalie-and-why-it-could-soon-change
  2. I went to the Devils game Saturday and saw Ovechkin's 700th goal. Pretty cool moment. Anyway, I walked by a couple fans talking and heard "they can't trade everybody" as I passed by and though, "yes they can, and they should." I wish the blackhawks would wake up and do the same.
  3. 1 cup if he's lucky
  4. I can only assume it is because the skill is so much different from the skating players that there is no translation. A guy who plays goalie with regularity, even at much lower levels, can look the part a lot more than your typical 7th defenseman who never practices goalie (and shouldn't).
  5. they are so bad at this but I do like that they are making it easier for me to ignore them this season isn't the situation exactly the same for you as it has been every year? no. I get NBCSC
  6. It appears every DirecTV subscriber is getting that message out of market, and some in market (even if they have the right package). From what I've gathered Marquee isn't going to be national on DirecTV in the sports package. I have no clue but I imagine that's probably a different negotiation/agreement and maybe they want to get all the local providers wrapped up first. they are so bad at this but I do like that they are making it easier for me to ignore them this season
  7. that vast majority of stations just run freaking infomercials half the time. A Cubs network was always going to be lacking for worthwhile programming. Comcast Sports Chicago barely put together a lineup with all sports coverage.
  8. I have almost every channel including all the rsns and it shows up on my guide but says I don’t have the channel and need to purchase.
  9. Also, Carr isn't very good carr is pretty good (averageish starter), would be a huge upgrade, and (i hate this line because it's such a low bar) would immediately be the best qb the bears have ever had. i loved cutler too but he flat out turned the ball over too much. That’s just wrong
  10. Why not? More is better. I am heavily in favor of a 19 week (17 game) season with 2 byes, 1 neutral site, and 8 home/away games. Anyone who plays on Thursday has a bye the previous week. Don’t really care strongly either way about 14 playoff teams. But I guess keeping the playoff hopes of more teams alive for longer makes the season more interesting for more fan bases. More is not always better.
  11. it does feel that way, don't it
  12. one neutral site game each is something that has been talked about a lot in the past, but I have no idea if that's on the table here. I would think between London, Mexico, Canada and the occasional non-NFL American city/stadium hosting it could be done in a reasonable fashion.
  13. If all you're risking is the one thing you'll be able to make money doing in your life you're not really risking much? Ortiz is a known PED user and all around terrible person affiliated with an organization that also got caught up in the cheating. Screw him for whining about snitches. I have no idea what this means but okay, it's still ridiculous.
  14. David Ortiz played the 'snitches' card with Fiers, too, so horsefeathers him. To be fair to Ortiz, he specifically called out Fiers for not saying anything while he was on the Astros and waiting until after he got the title to do so. Fiers shouldn’t be criticized for speaking out (better late than never) but I at least understand what Ortiz is saying here. Any other pitcher or the hitters who didn’t participate could have spoken up but didn’t so credit to Fiers for doing so. This is a ridiculous take, imo. If a guy actually called out the team while he was on it, even more people would cite his snitchiness. It's ridiculous to expect some mid-roster nobody to make that move while on the team.
  15. Come on Youtube TV. No that’s on redtube
  16. Punishing them by making them spend less is not ideal.
  17. I believe it was never directly stated to be under the tax, but it was stated they'd have a hard budget that the tax would obviously eat into. So they can either be under this year or next. If you can get Bryant and Arenado on the same team this year and go for broke, do it then you find a way to chisel away at that budget next year. Bottom line is it's going to happen this year or next.
  18. that's the problem with defenses, you can't hide weaknesses, and once guys begin to age, the weaknesses abound.
  19. that's pretty much the only hope
  20. whose dong is jed checking out?
  21. I get BBQ and 80s costume related ads because of some recent searches, and quite frankly it's been helpful.
  22. that was a real doozy
