  1. mark r owes us a pick in the nfl mock draft thread, and a new game thread.
  2. I hate all the primetime games. I like watching football during the day on Sundays.
  3. Why can't it be before the Thursday game? I don't understand why the NFL insists on sending teams out there on 3 days rest late in the season. Use the byes for teams playing on Thanksgiving and every Thursday game.
  4. I'll take a meaningless game at home against the Saints over a very important one in the middle of a tough stretch any time.
  5. No they aren't. They are justifying that he's barely playing at all. Again, complaining about a lack of playing time isn't complaining about a not getting all the playing time. Just like complaining about a poor pitching performance isn't complaing about a lack of a perfect game.
  6. They have 3 home games though that have a pretty decent chance of being flexed to a night game (broncos, giants, saints). What's the limit for primetime games? It's not much more than 5 is it? There's actually a good shot at starting 5-1. I'm chalking up the Chargers game as a loss, the Eagles game will be really tough.
  7. 5 prime time games, 4 on the road. Major screw job. 9/9 @ CHARGERS, 3:15 PM 9/16 VS. CHIEFS, 3:15 PM 9/23 VS. COWBOYS, 7:15 PM 9/30 @ LIONS, Noon 10/7 @ PACKERS, 7:15 PM 10/14 VS. VIKINGS, Noon 10/21 @ EAGLES, 3:15 PM 10/28 VS. LIONS, Noon 11/11 @ RAIDERS, 3:15 PM 11/18 @ SEAHAWKS, 7:15 PM 11/25 VS. BRONCOS, Noon 12/2 VS. GIANTS, 3:15 PM 12/6 @ REDSKINS, 7:15 PM 12/17 @ VIKINGS, 7:30 PM 12/23 VS. PACKERS, Noon 12/30 VS. SAINTS, Noon
  8. Z struggles with extra rest. He's the team's most important pitcher. It makes perfect sense to juggle the rotation around him.
  9. Seriously? You're commenting on his SLG right now? That's the same as Jacque Jones, who has started everyday and doesn't appear to be anywhere close to losing his job. That's basically one single worse than Soriano right now. The absurdity in the Murton critiques is just beyond ridiculous right now. The guy hasn't played. He's been given the least amount of opportunities of any supposed regular, and is basically being used similar to how Ryan Theriot has been used. He's had one instance where he's started back to back games, and was substituted out after 2 at bats in that 2nd game.
  10. If I'm a Knicks fan, I'd actually want them to get blown out as much as possible. Why would any fan want their team to appear to be better than they are? That just leads to a continuation of badness. Big changes must be made in New York. Whole world's known it for quite some time. I think the Knicks players might find they are very, very alone on wanting other teams to take it easy on them. I've heard several Knicks fans make this same statement. In a sport like basketball, when several points are scored every minute, it's really hard to bring up the running up the score claim, especially among the pros. A 100-6 high school game is different.
  11. why? I could certainly see why he might want to, but I don't see why he'd "have to".
  12. Was this a national game? I didn't notice. Teams postpone games on one day's notice all the time. I don't think that's an issue.
  13. I'm guessing any tickets sold already would be valid for that date, and any remaining tickets purchased will be priced as prime dates.
  14. Is this the 3rd or 4th time this year the Knicks have had problems with teams "running up the score"? Seems to me that lousy franchise should worry more about what is causing them to be susceptible to being blown out, than what other teams are doing to blow them out. I really love when NY teams fall flat. It helps me tolerate the fans a little more every day.
  15. why the hell arent they making it up tomorrow? [expletive]. Doesnt Houston have an offday too? Not sure why it's "[expletive]". The weather is going to such through the weekend. There's no guarantee they'd get the game in tomorrow, and there's no reason to keep Houston here in case they can get the game in.
  16. i thought we knew the schedule months ago? opponents, not schedule. All we know is they open in San Diego.
  17. The report I saw said the union has said they will support Jones if he decides to fight the suspension.
  18. These are the Chicago Cubs. They lost over 90 games last year. They are under .500 during the Hendry regime. They've got a terribly flawed organizational philosophy that has been exposed repeatedly, and they went on a wild, some would say negligent, spending spree this year that pretty much demands they be great now, or wait for a very long time to fix things. If the Yankees get off to a slow start, you can brush it aside because you know they'll win 90+. If the Pirates get off to a slow start, you can be pretty positive that will continue. If the Cubs get off to a slow start, well, some people aren't going to feel all that well. Personally I don't see many people freaking out. I haven't given up on the season. I think you are overreacting to people who are frustrated. There's nothing wrong with voicing frustration at a team that is playing the same way they played when they sucked last year. I'd suggest you stop worrying about how other people voice their frustration. If you feel confident, fine, state your reasons. But if somebody doesn't like what they see, that's perfectly justified.
  19. You don't understand why some people aren't satisfied with the makeup of the roster? First off, you know it's flawed if Jim Hendry put it together. People want the Cubs to be the best team in baseball and win the world series. Their roster as it stands probably has them no better than a little above average, if all works out. What is there to understand? That's a meaningless, hyperbolic statement. I disagree, but to each his own.
  20. http://www.intellicast.com/IcastPage/LoadPage.aspx?seg=LocalWeather&loc=kord&prodgrp=RadarImagery&product=RadarLoop&prodnav=none http://www.weather.com/weather/map/interactive/60613?from=36hour_map_large&zoom=7&interactiveMapLayer=radar If the worst of that junk passes within the next 3 hours, and the field isn't destroyed by then. I could see them playing through what would be a cold misty type game. They've definitely played in that kind of stuff before. But if what is there now stays, we have to wait until Friday for the first crack at a home victory. Since this is a divisional opponent whom they play at home again right after the all star break and again at the end of August, I'm guessing they won't hesitate to cancel, however. They could probably schedule a day/night doubleheader and sell whatever remaining tickets they have for this game, plus sell a lot more at the concessions.

  22. Even if it doesn't hold up under appeal, it sends a big message that the commish isn't going to tolerate this stuff. I'm fine with the message, I just don't really like how he's going about enforcing it. This sort of ex post facto enforcement is just a bit troublesome to me. I'm fine with year long suspensions for certain actions, I just think the lack of precedent will cause problems, and could ultimately undermine the whole movement towards stricter enforcement. You are basically forcing the union to fight you on this, as opposed to coming to a mutual agreement.
  23. Right now the Knicks are 9th from the bottom. But with 4 games remaining they could end up as low as 5th from the bottom. What kind of odds do they have for the 5th-9th slots?
  24. Hey, with the bad shape of the big market eastern teams, Stern might be desperate to get at least one great team with marketable stars. You never know.
  25. The nonsense about lacking the team speed pisses me off. Shut up and play the game and quit whining about the weather. The Cubs have as many players with wheels as any team. They don't have anymore lugs than Houston does.
