Nothing higher than 6th in the lineup please. I'd put the chances of him leading off at about 99%. Under the Dusty rule of CF=Leadoff, perhaps. But I'm not sure Lou works that way, nor does he want to put a young guy in that situation. -
That's been tried before. From what I heard, it wasn't pretty. Can't be any uglier than the current situation.

I don't know about that favorite tag. Floyd was signed as a platoon/role player. JJ was reportedly on the trading block all offseason. And while I think Hendry was legitimately proud of acquiring a former gold glover and All Star for Maddux, I doubt he'll flip if Lou benches him. And I don't think Lou cares what Hendry thinks. Lou is the only one of the two with any longterm hold on his job. A new owner is going to can Hendry unless this team goes very far this year.

I agree with all of this, though DeRosa has been playing pretty well. which is the problem. i like derosa, too. If it really bothers you, then Theriot should start at SS.

I'm seeing forecasts that are saying the winds are out of the south now, but will be coming out of the east/northeast around gametime, which woulc be blowing in from right and/or center. Of course, it could start out blowing out to left and switch midgame.

That's what a callup for an injured player is, a kick the tires situation. I don't think people are guaranteeing superstardom, rather they are expressing excitement to see a very talented player on the team.

I don't understand either statement. If Pie is in the lineup, that's another lefty, so it presumably lessens the need to have Jacque and Floyd in at the same time. And what the heck does the maturity comment even mean.

he's not making THAT much money for his production, really. He's making enough money so that teams will have to think twice about just adding him to their payroll. I'm not sure any teams other than the Yankees, Angels, Red Sox and Mets are in a position to simply add $5 million to their payroll without cutting costs elsewhere.

I don't see how valuable he can be to us if he isn't pitching better than the people who could replace him and if he's going to be too stubborn to accept bullpen duty. -

I'd have to agree. Even if he can come back in a couple days and still swing, a huge part of his game is still his legs, and hammies tend to linger. Unless this heals immediately, I'd call up Pie tomorrow.

I know he wouldn't. Neither would Z though. Cabrera is about to make the motherload. I don't see Florida signing him (or Z) to a deal that will likely start at the one Pujols signed. But if you can get a couple decent guys to throw into a package that includes Murton, and maybe a guy like Colvin and some arms, you do it.

With Pie off to such a hot start in AAA, is there a chance that Jones gets traded and they are seeing if Murton can play right just in case? Nah, because Pie would be the RF between the two. I think it's for the anticipated Floyd and Murton OF. I agree, but they may just want to make sure that Murton can play right in case Pie comes up and really struggles or on days he needs off. They need to get prospects for Jones and package them with Murton and others in a deal for Cabrera so they can start Cabrera, Pie, Soriano out there. Then it won't matter if Pie struggles.

I agree. The only sporting events that should be postponed are those that Virginia Tech is playing in. But that's it. A moment of silence would be perfectly fine with me. I could see UVA cancelling as well. -
What's your problem with that quote? You wouldn't consider a combined 11-2 record with an era around 1.3 to be "stupid" good? Or do you just not like the phrase? I hate the phrase. He's been a scout for over 30 years. I'm assuming he's over 50. It's bad enough when a 20 year old talks like that. What's next? Yo, that Samardzija is just phat. i heard if a person doesn't speak super white proper english he/she worships the devil, too. Um, not saying phrases like "stupid good" is hardly super white proper english.

Murton in RF and Jones in LF? Are you sure that's not flip-flopped, or that Floyd isn't in place of Jones? I find it odd that Lou put Murton in the 4 hole, considering the main reason he's been out most of the season was due to a lack of power. And why is Barrett given middle of the order status? He's been as bad as Izturis this year.
