  1. LOL. That is funny. The double switch was the right move. He wanted Howry to pitch the 9th. If he doesn't double switch he has to pinch hit for Howry in the bottom to the 8th. This is true, I was not aware he had Howry in mind for the save at the time. Much smarter double switch move than a typical Baker version.
  2. He's not playing that often. Theriot is playing just as much and doing no better. We just have to hope Lou puts in the right guy on any given day.
  3. 20/20 hindsight... it's the wrist injury that did it; otherwise he's a 30 HR, 900 OPS guy consistently. I don't know about consistently. He did that once in his career. Way to go Cesar!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  4. Has Lou done anything to show you he knows how to manage a bench in a close game? First you have to GET TO extras. And letting relievers bat isn't a good way to do that. Score the run first, worry about the remaining situation next. You pinch hit for the reliever if it gets there in the bottom of the inning. You don't take out our best damn bat today just because you have a weird double switch fetish. The best part with Dusty is he'd double switch with the pitcher up 4th or 5th next inning. Which you do if you plan on throwing the reliever another inning. But then he'd pull the guy anyway.
  5. Lee isn't going to put up a .413 OBP this year. His numbers are plummetting, to the tune of a 750 OPS in June. I don't think you can project numbers for the rest of the season based on a month. Players have good months and bad months. I can project he won't maintain his numbers. He had a fluke start based off an insance BABIP that was unsustainable. He has not sustained it and his numbers are falling fast.

  7. But his is cheaper and done 4 years earlier. He is making as much as Pujols, there is no way he deserves that if he isn't 40+ homers. Our one real chance in this game is probably a Soriano homer. He is the one guy we have that you can really hope to change a game around with one ab. Although the contract sucks he is more of a game changer than Lee. Okay, fine, but Lee makes less than Soriano and his contract expires sooner, so it's a little easier to swallow than Soriano. I'm not praising the guy. I've been scared of his lack of power since last year.
  8. What happened? Seriously, what did they do. I hate that piano pop crap, but I stop listening when the guests are in the booth, can't stand it.
  9. Didn't happen to be deep enough? There wasn't one pitch taken for a strike. Just a couple fouls and a weak pop-up, that's a bad at bat by an impatient incompetent hitter.
  10. It is on Lou. Everyone knew Marquis had to come out. I didn't. They weren't hitting him. He got what should have been an inning ending DP. He hadn't thrown that many pitches. I don't see how you can assume he's done there. I have no idea what this is supposed to mean.

  12. Marquis is at 75 pitches and they weren't hitting him. I can't flip about not pulling him earlier. They should have been out of the inning.
  13. I really hate games where you need Jason Marquis to hold the opposition to under 3. Freaking offense.
  14. YOU'RE ALL WINNERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  15. I'd like to see a 1B at least in the 900-1000 range, especially on a team like the Cubs that needs the offense.
