  1. It's not hard to articulate, he's an idiot. He makes the easiest, lowest common denominator, predictable argument every single time. The owner is cheap, the player doesn't care, the coach is incompetent. He's not a necessary voice balancing out the fanboys, he's just a blowhard. A lot of columnists are, he's just the worst of the bunch. Just as bad, if not worse than the fanboys.
  2. His organization or the announcers? I think he was justified in being pissed off. Being compared negatively to a crackhead can't be fun.
  3. So I'm guessing DeRosa gets a lot of time in LF and Cedeno/Patterson split a lot of time at 2B. I don't know why you wouldn't just try and platoon Hoff and Murton in left for the next 1.5-2 months.
  4. Because Hamilton is incredibly talented and turned his life around and he would like to see Bradley do the same. Granted Hamilton's issues were substance issues and Bradley's as far as we know are not. MB was taunting fans at the ballpark the past two night in KC...pulled himself out of the game and took his time doing so with an out or two left on Tuesday night...jumped around like a crazy man after driving in runs on Tuesday. He just needs to chill out. Hamilton turned his life around after he screwed it up. Bradley's life isn't screwed up. He might not be the most likable guy, but he's not the idiot Hamilton was.
  5. Why was the announcer juxtaposing the "feel good" story of Hamilton getting his life back in order with Bradley's story, as if he's the screw up who blew a great opportunity?
  6. The easy answer right now is Hoff and Murton coming up and splitting most of the time in left.
  7. I don't see the team missing much of a beat the next month and a half.
  8. If it was injury I would think the hitters would let us know. Location seems to be more about consistent release points and mechanics, which may be something that leads to injury down the road.
  9. Correct. He's probably going to be headed for the 2009 MLB draft. If I understand this right, he has to wait for the draft since he is in the U.S. But, had he went to another country(Dominican Republic) he could sign right away. If this is the case, what the hell is his agent thinking? You're right and I'm guessing it's a case of getting the hell out of Cuba however you can and then hoping for the best afterwards. Yes, I get that. But, couldn't he have fleed to the DR and still been out of Cuba? Plus make a ton of money from whatever team wins a bidding war? I think the key point is fleeing Cuba isn't exactly the easiest thing in the world, and you take your opportunities when they come. I'm sure he'd have preferred going the free agent route, but sometimes you take what you can get.
  10. Yeah, on paper Forte sounds like he's another Benson clone. Call me crazy for not having too much faith on us drafting good offensive players. On paper? Forte is faster than Benson. He's longer and leaner. And most importantly he's not a beeyotch. Maybe so but at least when reading the scouting reports it sounds very similar to Benson. Strengths and weaknesses. http://www.fftoolbox.com/nfl_draft/profile_display.cfm?Prospect_ID=1296 I think there are some similarities on the field. But Forte didn't cry when he was drafted did he? That freaked me out with Benson, as did the "I'm not Ricky" me thinks thou doth protest too much stories. I think Benson was physically capable of being a good back, he was just messed up in the head. Hopefully Forte won't screw it up. I don't really have a problem with a 2nd round rookie being the de facto starter. I would like to see them bring in more talent though.
  11. Alcoholic? There's a big difference between being a young person that "parties" too much and actually being an alcoholic.... If you let alcohol cause problems with your worklife, there's a good chance you are an alcoholic. Multiple alcohol related arrests, there's a strong correlation.
  12. glad I saw this. not sure why we have to sign up to participate in a draft, but count me in.
  13. Because of upside reasons? I don't like the Cubs history of getting guys who drops on health issues.
  14. Okay, um, where's all this freaking out and a overreacting? And I guarantee maybe one of these guys has ever watched a Vandy game. Add to the point that he is absolutely nothing like Ryan Theriot whatsoever. A handful of sarcastic comments equates to freaking out? Get over yourself.
  15. So Ryan Theriot 2.0 No, Theriot wasn't a top 70 draft prospect. So a rich man's Ryan Theriot? Small, athletic, bad SS He's not small (6 foot 3, 210 pounds). To compare, that's 2 inches taller and 5 pounds heavier than DeRosa. He's got a good arm, unlike Theriot, and he has more power than Theriot does now, plus a little bit of added power potential in the future. There are much better comps for Flaherty than Ryan Theriot. I'll stick with the Utley one somebody else mentioned.
  16. He'd have to move extremely fast to be the starter in 2010.
  17. I would have taken him and done that. Hell we signed Jeff S. 29 other teams have passed him up as well, they know better than I do. Eh, everybody passing on a guy doesn't make it the right decision. Baseball has a way of groupthinking itself into stupid decisions. Also, how much influence did Selig and MLB have on slotting this year?
  18. Okay, um, where's all this freaking out and a overreacting?
  19. So Ryan Theriot 2.0 No, Theriot wasn't a top 70 draft prospect. So a rich man's Ryan Theriot? Small, athletic, bad SS I thought 6'3"
  20. The Cubs drafted a reliever and a utility player.
  21. So we drafted a 3b who doesn't hit for much power. Awesome. sounds like a 2B possibility.
  22. sounds like another safe bet to make the majors but probably never star there type of pick.
