  1. No, it's not completely counter to the previous 400+ PA's.... I don't know all of Zambrano's stats, but I know he hit .300 one year-- he hit around .250 last year & he's hitting around .350 this year. If you want a bigger sample size, what's Zambrano's avage the last two seasons?!? Probably around .280-.290.... That's gotta be relevant. Lou is good at puting players in position to succeed. If he thought Zambrano hitting in that spot was the thing to do, there's reason for that thought. Looking at strictly batting average isn't really the best way go about it, but Zambrano is a career .234 hitter(.241 OBP) that hit .247(.247 OBP) last year and .151(.160 OBP) the year before. Yeah, but it seemed like he hit much higher and Lou must have had a good reason so you shouldn't question it.
  2. I don't know crap about these prospects and the more I read the more confused I get, so give me the Alvarez kid Pittsburgh took.
  3. Todd Walker vs. the Sox a few years ago. It was too complete the sweep as well. Yep. Sunday night ESPN game and it was a pitchers duel between Rusch and Buehrle That was a walk.
  4. i don't mean to call bull but wouldn't one remember a score they shot at a us open course? rather than just say low 80's? It wasn't a US Open course then. I played Torrey Pines two years ago, when I knew the Open was coming, and I couldn't tell you what it was. Probably about 95-98. I played in a best ball scramble the next day and we got a 67.
  5. People don't bring it up because it's not worth talking about.
  6. because no one cares about stats like that why wouldn't they? because it's not an ability, or inability, it's a coincidence. This is a good hitting team. Even the best hitting teams fail often.
  7. He's on pace for over 100 innings. It's going to take more than 8 days of slightly less than average use to pull him back from the shredded arm ledge. Seriously.
  8. fangraphs.com Fangraphs assumes every team has a 50-50 chance of winning every game without considering the players abilities. This is false. Sometimes you have to consider other things Like the health of Marmol? I'd prefer he be used in a spot like this than not at all I have no problem with using Marmol when he should be used What you dont' seem to understand is that if they used him everytime a situation arises where they "should" use him, they'd use him way the heck too much.

  10. What? You never have to double switch. The lineup was going to be turned over regardless. I understand that, but like Baker, Piniella does have a habit to double switch (remember the game he double switch Derrek Lee out of the game?), and if that option is not present to Piniella, the better. ??????????? You aren't making any sense. The 9 spot was up in the order. You pinch hit, then insert a reliever the next inning. The double switch wouldn't have even been a realistic option unless they sent about 6 more guys to the plate that inning.

  12. Z shouldn't have hit, and he shouldn't have started pitching this inning. Two easy to see mistakes by Lou.
  13. Did he have the words in front of him??? Does he have any years in front of him?
  14. where are the non black and white screen shots?
  15. All fans of every team do it. It's because most fans are just the casual fan and can't tell the difference between a fly ball and a homerun. They're mostly idiots. it's also not that easy to tell right off the bat if a deep fly will go or not. A ball hit that deep actually is a HR to certain parts of the field. Why people act all high and mighty about overreacting to pop flys is beyond me.
  16. how about some more screenshots in technicolor.
  17. Not by much, and Murton has the superior track record.
  18. Yes, position on the field is meaningless, what matters is his leadoff ability.
  19. Having him not bunt with 2 on and no out.. Dusty Bakerish You don't know Dusty Baker.
  20. You're judging this off of 14 Major League at-bats? his name I'm judging this on the basis that he has never shown me anything to get excited about or to make me believe he can succeed at this level. He is very "Corey-like" and brutal to watch play baseball. He's actually not very Corey-like at all, except for the name, skin color and left handedness.
  21. Ron Santo: "I'm looking at Patterson here and in a way he might be bunting, but he might not be bunting."
