  1. I don't think it's that big of a deal either way. 2-2-1-1-1 theoretically cuts down on travel, as sometimes there's no need for a 5th game. When it comes down to it, teams just have to win games. Home ice went back and forth in the last series. There have been numerous times when the lower seed "steals" one on the road and then gives it right back at home. I think it's more trouble than it's worth to fix it.
  2. I don't necessarily agree, but I'm glad it was reduced. He was justified in appealing. And before anybody complains about him sitting today, just remember, he's going to miss 40-60 (or maybe more) games this year. The whole point of having Bradley is making sure he's available in October.
  3. We should whine about Gaudin being let go regardless, that was a weird move No it wasn't. Gaudin doesn't strike anybody out and he walks way too many. He's not a good pitcher. It's still weird to give a guy a substantial contract over the winter, when you could have just let him walk, and then cutting him when April comes around, especially when there was a more worthwhile candidate to be cut on the roster.
  4. I think you just like saying goonery.
  5. It's not like there isn't bad blood between those two teams. I don't see why the guy has to be given a hard time for lamenting a non-entertaining game. he's being given a hard time because lamenting a lack of "goonery" is dumb Well, that wasn't the only thing he mentioned. He said it was a boring game and not even a fight to spice things up. Then you insulted him for no good reason.
  6. Gaudin? Gaudin isn't spanking anybody. 1 hit 1 run and a bunch of walks through 4. We should be doing better. 2 of their 3 best hitters aren't playing and the opposing pitcher has already thrown 83 pitches. I'm not sure how much better they "should" be doing.
  7. He's very good against everyone. But you've got a great hitter in the middle of the worst offense in the game. There is literally no reason to give him drivable pitches. yeah but he's the first batter of the inning. unless the rest of the offense is pitchers, it's a pretty bad idea to just give a free pass to a leadoff hitter. No, but you don't feed the middle of the zone, either. Pitch him borderline, and if you lose him, you lose him. He's the only guy in their lineup who has proven he can hurt you. It's Ryan Dempster, it's not like he can put the ball exactly where he wants it. And it's not like the guy can't drive a borderline pitch either.
  8. Is that a rhetorical question? Just seems like WGN is on the way out for cubs broadcasts. I don't know if they are airing substantially fewer than they did last year, but this is a trend that's at least a decade old.
  9. I'm surprised to see Reed Johnson and Aaron Miles both have an OPS over 500 this season. Good for them.
  10. No, I'm fine with the guy they replaced Theriot with.
  11. Because Milton Bradley is taking the day off.

  13. Nothing Ive heard yet, Im guessing hes just getting a day off after a night game last night. With a suspension coming couldn't he play one more game. You know Watson is waiting for the Astros series to rule on the suspension. I'm all for babying Milton as much as is necessary. Yeah, he's going to miss lots of games, I'm not too concerned about him taking off days.
  14. Yeah, I can watch a random football game that I have no real rooting interest in, college or pro. But I don't think I've ever watched much more than a couple minutes of a non-Cubs baseball game, on tv at least. I guess that indicates I like football better.
  15. But that's only because their pitchers don't have any control. Ryan Dempster on the other hand has perfect control and can't accidentally miss his spot. Wow i hope you're kidding because if you aren't, that has to be the dumbest post i've ever read on this board to say that Dempster has perfect control. Alright, near perfect control. As close to perfect control as you can get without technically fulfilling the absolute standards of perfection.
  16. Looks to me like they will likely get this one in, perhaps with a little delays to start, and maybe one or two delays midgame.
  17. Weren't the Blackhawks the first to start round 2 despite being among the last to end round 1?
