  1. $23/month for the right to watch cubs on marquee and then pre and postgame shows from cincy. What's not to love?
  2. And what would that accomplish? Selfish people who make bad decisions for society deserve scorn from society. If the "it's a personal choice" people truly want that freedom they have to live with the knowledge that more informed people will be unhappy with them.
  3. The Olympics are still happening
  4. 8 games in one day is an egregious violation of the CBA.
  5. San Diego recently opened their bars to 100% capacity no, that's June 15 So he's a drunk and a scofflaw?!?!
  6. San Diego recently opened their bars to 100% capacity
  7. i don't think you can catch COVID from the guy on the mound when you're in the stands. Do your research
  8. My biggest takeaway too. Maybe people are paying with crypto? I'll wait until I can use a coupon at CVS, then just walk out of the store with it
  9. For those who have bothered paying attention, anybody got a good idea of how the pitching staff shakes out next week in NY? And do the Cubs have a pitcher worth trying to time your visit for? I'm just trying to avoid a Jake start at this point.
  10. I would have assumed Arrieta had built up a natural immunity to criticism. Guess not.
  11. This is such a weird take. It's 8 times a year, so if the complaint is how miserable it is to get in and out of the current location is fine for 8 times. I have news for you. There is no location where 8 times a year it will not be miserable to get in and out of a football stadium. They all suck. Driving to and from football games is a nightmare. The Meadowlands, Philly, Miami, Tampa, all these places are located out of the downtown areas and they are all absolutely terrible to drive in and out of for football.
  12. Bob Brenly spent a decade railing against every micro-transgression any hispanic player on the Cubs made. Ramirez was a particularly obvious target of his during that time. Brenly is the epitome of the racist uncle that the collective We allowed to say what he was going to say because that is just the way he is. It was wrong of all of us to excuse that ignorance back then and if you're at the point of actively defending him now, you're part of the problem.
  13. Jesus the horsefeathering ignorance in this thread is truly remarkable
  14. Give me one reason why anybody wants super bowl in Chicago. There is zero benefit.
  15. It’s picturesque but yeah not exactly a ideal location for a 60,000 seat football stadium. I’d prefer the Bears find something in the city and I could live with Soldier Fields location as my concern is more the stadium than the location. I want a stadium that can host Super Bowls, Final Fours, Big Ten Championship games, etc. if that has to be built in Arlington heights or something so be it. Cowboys Stadium is not in Dallas, whatever they call the Cardinals stadium is far away from central Phoenix, MetLife field is not centrally located, nor is the new LA stadium. NY Giants / NY Jets stadium is in a different state all together And it’s awful
  16. Agreed. One thing great about the Superdome and a reason it keeps hosting SBs is that it’s walking distance to everything. Soldier Field’s location is one of the best spots in the league, IMHO. That is an awesome location *this was specifically about the superdome’s location. But I like soldier field’s location as well
  17. Stadiums in the boonies absolutely suck
  18. I’m totally indifferent about the potential move to the burbs. It would almost guarantee hosting a SB within 5 years of the stadium completion- assuming they do a dome. Not having to deal with the Chicago park district would be a plus and having a better playing surface as well. Sounds like you are not indifferent
  19. NFL ownership guidelines require a controlling individual/entity. They don’t want the scrutiny of what a publicly traded company would necessitate. ah. Are they *presumably* selling because they are tired of running it or are they just broke? and if its the later, why couldn't they sell, say, 30% (or whatever maintains their leadership) in a public offering to bring in some money? Is that even possible? well it’s a $3 billion company that kicks off a certain amount of profit each year. If the individuals aren’t that into owning the Bears there are better ways to invest that money. So you sell and take that capital to use in other ways. And if you enjoy the idea of owning the bears you keep a small percentage for vanity purposes.
  20. Not sure if serious, but they can't do that. Oh really, why? I didn't know that NFL ownership guidelines require a controlling individual/entity. They don’t want the scrutiny of what a publicly traded company would necessitate.
