  1. I hadn't noticed before but after reaching a high water mark of 566 in mid-May Aaron's OPS has slipped back below 500. Fantastic acquisition.
  2. No they aren't. But they are hitting just as poorly. The pitching staff is much better than that one though.
  3. Well yea but look how the Sox scored their 2nd run. A bloop hit to RF then a broken bat triple. A broken bat triple is still a ball hit hard enough to get to the wall is it not? It wasnt a hard hit ball he hit it down the line and Bradleys gimp ass couldnt get to it before it got to the wall But it still got down there no? That doesn't matter, nobody on the Cubs is hitting the ball hard enough to do much damage. Lee has come the closest, but barring a solo HR, it's not going to mean much. Just because they get on via a misplay by a 3B and then fail to drive that guy in doesn't mean they are doing fine with nobody on but poorly with RISP. The point is they aren't hitting at all. It's not a situational thing.

  5. Earlier in the game while discussing the wind conditions he let us know that "recently when we've had weather like this it's been a pitchers game" as if he hadn't noticed this team hasn't scored in 2 months.
  6. Say what you want about RISP, but the times they have gotten on base today it's not like they had really solid hits. There's been missplays at third and bloops.
  7. I dont blame Ozzie for sending him, Anderson has good speed, and Soto hasnt been good at throwing runners out this year. They said earlier that Anderson has 2 SB and 4 CS. Yes, you can blame him for sending the guy.
  8. That Monsters has gone away and sportsrise has returned?
  9. We should have bunted. Seriously. This offense sucks, at least a ground ball or sac fly gets 1 run in there. Bunted with Reed, to get to Fontenot vs a lefty and Aaron Miles? You got to be kidding me The chances of Fontenot hitting a ground ball or sac fly are probably greater than Reed getting a hit. Unfortunately. This team blows. Neither a ground ball or pop fly guarantees a run scores. You need either a soft ground not right at a player or a deep fly. Odds are he would not get the job done.
  10. We should have bunted. Seriously. This offense sucks, at least a ground ball or sac fly gets 1 run in there. Bunted with Reed against a LHP? That's the only time you want that guy batting. Then you have to count on Fontenot against a lefty to make just the right amount of contact to score that 1 run (still leaving you down 1) and an empty base if they want to walk Fontenot and go for the sure DP with Miles at the plate, followed by a pitcher. No, Reed should not have bunted.
  11. Keep hitting it to the new guy. It's like the right center fielder in my softball game last night.
  12. Did they hit somebody or are you subtly requesting that they do so?
  13. The less amount of games we play right now without Aram, and with us hitting like crap the better. We should have Aram back by the makeup game, and hopefully be hitting alot better. They have a makeup game this Monday right? A DH on Saturday the 27th would lead to 22 straight games in 21 days before the next scheduled off day. Plus, you might have to jump through hoops with city hall to get permission for a night game in Wrigley Saturday night. And I believe that would be right in the middle of the Taste of Chicago, adding to the trouble of getting players and fans from the south side to the north side.
  14. I really dont see the problem in skipping your #5 starter so you can allow your #1 and 2 starters to pitch. Seems like common sense to me, plus Z has always pitched better on more than 5 days rest. Im hoping though they slot Wells in Friday to give Harden an extra days rest as well as Lilly. With the amount of games we are going to be playing coming up without an offday, they need to give extra rest to any of the starters when they can. I agree with the sentiment, but Dempster is neither a 1 or 2. Lilly is the best pitcher. Agreed, but point still remains about skipping the number 5. Yes, but I think the more important point is extra rest for Harden.
  15. thats true, and so was Manny Ramir... wait that doesnt work But Frank played college football in the SEC so we know he never had access to steroids as a young man.

  17. He's talked about it, but he hasn't done it prior to this year. He's gotten riled up before this year.
  18. So the receiver is the star and the QB who gets him the ball is a farce?
  19. When was the last game that was won by passion ???? Passion doesn't win baseball games. Good hitting and good pitching wins baseball games. Take all that passion and store it at body temperature and out of direct sunlight. I don't think passion wins, but I am just saying that the fact that Lou is a screamer who isn't screaming could very easily indicate his passion is declining. I never said I liked his ranting and raving, but that is who he is, or maybe, who he was.
  20. It was a question, not a statement. Your answer is clearly "no". It certainly didn't look like a question. "I have to think that everyone" sounds like a strong declaration.
  21. Are you kidding me? Everyone that is a legitimate baseball fan? This is more dumb than the "true Cubs fan" nonsense you hear about those who really deserve the honor of being called a fan. What the hell is a legitimate baseball fan? I just meant someone that follows the game more than casually. That can name a few of the major "hallowed" records. I wasn't trying to be all high and mighty about it. Just that there are people that might say they're a Cub fan, and might have a hat and/or t-shirt, and may have even been to Wrigley, that couldn't name more than 3 players that aren't on the Cubs, and have no idea who Roger Maris is. Take out the word "legitimate" if that's a sticking point. It's not important to what I was trying to say. That's still an absurd assumption to make. You already see people on this site who obviously can name more than 3 players that aren't Cubs that don't agree with you. Why the hell would anybody think you have to think 61 is the only one that counts?
  22. Why can't you be there for watching the game and still enjoy amenities? You don't need ferris wheels and hot tubs. But the simple act of being able to walk around a stadium and take in the view from multiple angles can be enjoyable, not to mention a wider selection of food/drink. And everybody keeps saying the footprint has to be the same and therefore no changes can be made. But we're talking about a building constructed in a very different era, that doesn't even fill in the entire footprint. They found a way to fit 2500 extra seats in the bleachers, I'm sure they can find a way to make a new Wrigley better. And you can always build up.
