  1. They may be entitled, but they root for the Mets. And live in NY, or worse, NJ. NJ rules
  2. For those thinking Nico was ever going to be an everyday shortstop
  3. I think it’s the right decision
  4. probably fewer sexual assaults and DUI but also Grace publicly criticized the Cubs after he left and that was around the time Tom was having his heart ripped out by Sosa apparently, so maybe he just has a bad taste for that entire timeframe of players. Given the timing and their respective ages, could be Grace stole Tom's girl too
  5. Because something will have to give. Here's the list of qualified seasons in the last 5 full years(2015-19) from players who have >20% K%, <7% BB%, >.200 IsoP, and a 110+ wRC: https://www.fangraphs.com/leaders.aspx?pos=all&stats=bat&lg=all&qual=y&type=8&season=2019&month=0&season1=2015&ind=1&team=0&rost=0&age=0&filter=73235&players=0&startdate=&enddate= 18 seasons, and the only repeats are Jose Abreu, Baez, and Castellanos. Schwindel either needs to be an extreme exception to the norm in terms of skills/profile, or his approach needs to change in one direction(more BB) or the other(fewer K), otherwise the odds are very good the power will come down with everything else as pitchers adjust. To add to this, Schwindel has never hit more than 24 HRs in a single year (he has 22 now, but again, look at Oakland's AAA team). Of those 18 players in that list, only 3 of them hit less than 25 bombs. Yeah but he was hindered by his incredibly stupid name, those other guys had cool names that helped their power. Just change his name.

Yes, but that statement was in response to someone saying that he had no baseball skill at all. It was saying he had no other skill than the hitting.
  7. I definitely think he will offer to at least one.
  8. What the hell are you even talking about? People complain about cheap owners, you think suppressing spending so cheap owners can pretend to catch up answers that? That's not going to change anything for the better. This doesn't fix anything, it only holds down spending.
  9. Spending is not an inequality. You can't fix cheapness and greed. And you have absolutely zero evidence that artificially restraining spending by top teams and adding a very low arbitrary floor will actually lead to better competition or an improvement in the game. Even if your theory proved correct, I don't think it's great for baseball to have everybody win 84 games. Professional athletics is about greatness. Disincentivizing the goal of greatness is not good for any sport.
  10. The Bears get to play against Mitch this weekend.
  11. History says “never”, as OL has been a concern every year I’ve watched this team (under multiple coaches and GM’s) It was league best throughout the 80s and quite good during much of Lovie's run. Angelo and Pace both went on extended runs of failing to address it, but it takes one or two signings to significantly upgrade things in a hurry.
  12. A slightly below league average hitter without any defensive value who only excels at hitting 15% of the pitchers should never be more than organization depth, especially given that at his age you can't really project any kind of development. I really believe one of the biggest contributors to his success right now is that other teams just haven't bothered to figure out how to pitch to him. That goes away the second you give him any sort of prominent role and/or the Cubs actually start posing any kind of challenge. Our "1B/DH mix" next year should be an every day first baseman and a revolving cast of starters at other positions getting days off. Yes, please stop suggesting this guy play a role in next year's team on purpose. He's the kind of guy you play on accident when everybody else is gone.
  13. He should not be playing, the lousy Cubs medical staff is going to get these guys killed.
  14. So sending out a tweet = caring about on field product, even though they’re at .500 and out of the playoffs, but his personality that is pretty public can’t leave us to believe he’s pretty hands on? of course. i'm not saying you were wrong. i was asking. Hey sorry dude I didn’t mean to come across as like antagonistic or anything. I wish our owners wanted good players too. Cohen just seems very hands on and I thought it was ironic that he was complaining about his own offense that just added Javier Baez when I’m sure he Ok’d that deal it wasn't antagonistic at all. i was just imagining it as him hiring the baseball people and then being pissed that they built a horsefeathers team. also i didn't know how much of scumbag he is, so i was giving him the benefit of the doubt i guess. Never give a hedge funder the benefit of the doubt, let alone one who the feds made stop running public money.
  15. They removed Yosh and Sammy?
  16. suspended indefinitely
  17. He's not wrong dot gif
  18. He's a 24 year old 2B who has never not been on the IL. You cannot wait to see what such a player can do when there are better options readily available.
  19. sign me up for the sign superstars gameplan.
  20. Does Arrieta check any of those boxes? Yes, several! Also a contender is adding him for free in dollar and player terms, which is not a comparison to questioning why Davies didn't have a deadline trade market. Getting Arrieta for nothing is nothing like trading for Davies, as you said, but how does Arrieta check several of those boxes? I'll grant you the "greater ceiling" one just for shits and giggles, but, like no. His ceiling is get you 5 innings and still in the game if your guys are hitting well that day. You should be able to call up some guy from the minor to give you the same chance of winning a game. But I guess the Padres don't, so, signing him makes sense.
  21. It’s good to remember the 3 best position players on the team are on the IL, so there’s a significant influx on the current roster relative to what we’re seeing right now, plus any optimism you want to have about others who could be productive role players(Happ, Bote, Deichmann) or better than their current role(most of the non-Hendricks SP). There is a lot of depth to add though. This just made me sad thinking that Nico Hoerner is now a top 3 position player on this team. It was always nice that Willson was like the 5th best player, now he's the best? And for some reason, the Cubs website does not list Madrigal (assuming he's in this sad little group) on the IL. He's shown as in the minors.
  22. he was referring to non-HOF players
  23. fixed it for you fixed it for both of you
