  1. You don't know why the guy would want $100 million to coach a football team?
  2. If they come out of all this with Willson as the one guy they sign long-term..., well that would just be silly.
  3. This is a "we got to get back above the salary floor" kind of signing. Terrific
  4. You mean like, Matt Nagy himself? No, not Nagy. I don't have a specific person in mind really. You never know
  5. But you still allowed your team to play a game in the middle of a season with a lame duck coach that everybody knew was lame duck. This team has not only sucked with their personnel decision, but timing has always been awful. You make the move Sunday night and announce it Monday. Short week is meaningless, unless you are cleaning house of the entire coaching staff, which they are not going to do. You can't make this decision, see it leaked and discussed all week and then play Thanksgiving Day without addressing the issue. Firing him Friday doesn't negate the lack of response throughout the week.
  6. WTF are you talking about? Yes they do. Ownership owes a ton of information. If this ownership, in this season, with all the circumstances surrounding it don't owe any information to anybody, then nobody owes anybody any information, ever.
  7. But if this IS his last game, is the response really lacking? Absolutely. It's been widely disseminated that he's all but gone. You have to address that. Letting a lame duck coach a Thanksgiving day game is a laughably terrible decision. Letting the coach and special teams coach be the only guys that face the media on this issue, plus ARob in his preemptive press conference, is cowardly. A member of the front office has to step in here and say something.
  8. I would say in no particular order. He looks the part (Trump's "central casting" obsession is not unique) and presents as intelligent and thoughtful. He cleaned up a complete mess following Emery. He has "modernized" the football ops. There's been quite a bit of good mixed in with the disasters. He probably found the franchise QB. And probably most importantly he provides a sense of continuity, which all billionaire's value above all else.
  9. I don't know much about the guy since he's such a creapy weirdo recluse. But it could work. Isn't that how the White Sox treated Ken Williams? Maybe he can take on more of a go between to ownership and mouthpiece at league meetings, without driving personnel decisions. But I have my doubts. I would take that situation in a heartbeat if it was offered though.
  10. I would honestly hate that outcome more than just letting Pace keep his current role. Letting Pace be a creeper sniffing around and undermining the new guy is just ugh. Yeah, the more I think about this, the more I hate it. He's a personnel and staffing decision guy. That's all the experience he has (besides scouting, which would be a big demotion). If not involved in personnel decisions, he has no other expertise to really add to the organization. I thought maybe he could be heavily involved in the Arlington Heights stuff, but he's only slightly more qualified to oversee that than I am. The biggest problem I have with it is his philosophies are terrible, and if anything he would instill those upon the next guy in some way shape or form. He treats draft picks like peanut shells. His solution to fixing a problem is drafting/signing/acquiring as many guys at the same position as possible to "guarantee" the hole gets filled. He is very bad at asset management, and if he's some sort of prez, the one thing he will direct is the overall philosophy of the front office.
  11. So Nagy already has been fired and hes gonna coach why? Just cuz it's a short week? That's not a good enough reason. I think it's weird, but there's precedent for stuff like that happening, sorta. Hendry running the 2011 draft. Cutler said Lovie had informed the team he had been fired before his final game. I'm sure there are many others. precedent doesn't make it not stupid I go back to Hatley running the draft when everybody knew he was gone the next week. It's dumb.
  12. I think the fake headset malfunction probably pissed off a lot of guys. But the injury report and Mack's decision to go under the knife kind of told us what the vets thought of Nagy. No point in playing in a wasted season for this guy. It's done.
  13. It’s the only explanation why they both aren’t already gone.
  14. That’s not going to be a problem at all
  15. Omaha there are options He said cities, sir.
  16. By the same token, if the NFL is going to truly expand, they almost have to expand internationally. With 36-40 teams, you run the risk of oversaturing the US market. Like i don't think a 2nd Chicago team would work as well as most think. I don't love Portland, St Louis or San Diego as destinations really either. I know there's been KC and STL teams together in the past and SD and 2 LA teams at the same time, but part of the appeal of the NFL is so few games and so few cities to catch a game. I'm confused why you think adding a 3rd NY team makes sense while a 2nd Chicago team wouldn't work. That being said, I think it's much smarter to go with 4 Euro teams at the same time than adding another team in the big US cities or giving those smaller towns a 2nd/3rd/4th chance at hosting.
  17. There also aren’t 32 quality head coaches, GMs, DCs, etc. the opponents would be easier to play and a guy like Mitch could become a solid average QB in such a league.
  18. effectively the board of directors Sure, it would be neat to have every NFL team set up this way, but they can't be. The structure was banned. The BOD electing a president who runs it is a great practice in theory. It works for the Packers, but the stock sales are just gimmicks that really have nothing to do with "ownership".
  19. good, makes a trade possible
  20. Isn't So Michigan getting to 4 losses?
