  2. I think the best of that group is Marshall.
  3. dartmouth fans are pretty absent generally, but that could be a result of their athletic programs always being terrible. That's true, I've never met a Dartmouth fan, aside from when I went to a football camp there when Fiedler was still there.
  4. There has to be some balance between now and future. They've traded away a bunch of draft picks and spent a ton of dough focusing on the now, some of it has to be for tomorrow. I wouldn't be surprised at all if Idonije completely replaced Brown's production. He's going to full-time DE, so you have to assume that is the staff's plan.
  5. He was excellent in that scenario last playoffs. But he may not be that same guy right now. He's lost right now. I say send him down for Crawford and let him play everyday. If he recovers his brain maybe call him up for backup duty in April.
  6. I would have to agree, but I don't think either of these will apply. We'd probably get a 5th rounder, maybe 4th if we were lucky. 4th rounders have value, that's where they got Alex Brown, and Orton. I'm not interested in them signing Brown to an extension after this season, when the cap will likely be back. So if you can get something of value for him today, why not?
  7. No, it's not possible. Because prior to those rooftops going "corporate", there were very few people up there. It was a hoot to see 5 people on a rooftop, so they showed it on TV. If anything, the rooftops take away what would otherwise be bleacher attendees.
  8. I wouldn't just give it up, but I'd trade him no doubt. He's a nice player, but hardly irreplacable, especially on a team that just signed Peppers.
  9. Idonije is going to be focusing specifically on DE, playing a little lighter this year.
  10. If he goes to free agency, presumably he would cost more than if he was traded and then signed to an extension, so maybe they are just floating that idea to get people thinking about how much they might want Alex Brown, and how much they'd give up for exclusive negotiating rights.
  11. taco delivery. I've really been disappointed with their lack of taco delivery
  12. They were a pretty good draw starting in 1984, but it wasn't much of a scene until 1998. Similarly, the Yankees were a fairly easy ticket until 1998 as well, even though they won the WS in 1996. Starting in 99 though, it really became a scene. When I first showed up in NY, getting cheap decent tickets in Yankee stadium was easy, and you didn't have to work very hard to get actual good seats. Mojo, it's the baseballreference.com site: http://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/CHC/
  13. I can believe that.
  14. Fewer people went to Wrigley in 1997 than 1996. There were more people at the park on average in 1994 than 1997. There were only two seasons in that decade with fewer people per game in Wrigley than 1997. I don't know what to tell you other than you are wrong. Wrigley was not a hot spot or tough ticket in the 90's until late 1998. It all began in the middle of 1998.
  15. Then I guess he would be like MJ and go back to Michigan and buy in on the Tigers.
  16. And that beginning was, at the earliest, Wood's 20K game, but more likely later. Just look at late May 1998, they played in front of 19,000 against Philly, and they were in 2nd place. In early June they played in front of 16,000, and that was right before going into first place. I would say it's more likely June 15, when Sammy had a 3 HR game on the way for 20 on the month, and then it just streamrolled. They started playing in front of 39,000-40,000 every night and scalpers started making real money on tickets.
  17. That was my last summer living in Chicago, three blocks from the park, and it was still nothing compared to post 98, let alone post 2003.
  18. You didn't hear? He killed Natalee Halloway, it was all over Nancy Grace last week.
  19. IDK My brother and I often went to Wrigley in the late 70s and got bleacher seats with no problem. Place was mostly empty and the neighborhood around the park was not nearly as thriving as it is today. Are we talking about the Cubs/Wrigley combination being popular, or just about the Cubs centering their marketing around the park and not the team? Both. I don't think anyone is saying Wrigley wasn't "popular" per se prior to the 90's, but it definitely was nowhere near the "scene" we've known it to be for almost 15 years now. Like NUN pointed out, it was exceedingly easy to get tickets for pretty much any game up until the late 90's. They may have been marketing the park before that, but comparatively speaking they were fiaiing miserably at it. It hasn't even been 15 years. It was not much of a scene at all in the 90's and really only became a place to go in late 98, then that faded until 2003. Tickets were cheap and easy to come by until 2004. There's always been a drink in the bleachers under the sun element, but that is the case in just about every stadium, it's just so few of them play under the sun, so there's fewer crowd shots of shirtless drunks.
  20. What do you mean by "anything" though? Is a 6th rounder enough? 5th? If a release is really on the table, then I'd be okay with a 5th, but without knowing they were contemplating a release, I would have hoped for a 3rd or at least a 4th. Maybe if somebody would want Olsen and Brown together somehow they could get a couple picks - like a 2nd and 4th for Olsen, Brown and the Bears 5th.
  21. I know a couple Cornell grads, and they are by far the least vocal of Ivy supporters, but man they really came out of the woodwork yesterday.
  22. A release would be foolish. I'm all for a trade if they can get anything though.
  23. He also leads the team in AB and has only 1 HR. So the assumption that gaining weight gave him a bunch of power hasn't showed itself yet.
  24. But there's been plenty of division games on short weeks, thanksgiving and the regular Thursday games. Just this year GB played Detroit on Thanksgiving. I still think there's variance for thanksgiving viewers and they would like to throw out good matchups when possible, including division foes.
