  1. there's an international draft agreement, which is that they have until July 25 to come to an agreement on a draft that will begin in 2024.
  2. Little known fact, I won the NIT that year
  3. Needless to say, I'm not fearful of Mitch becoming a good QB, I'm openly cheering for the idea.
  4. If Mitch is a good QB in the next couple years it would really test the random NFL coaches can always find a job theory. Nagy should never step foot on a football field again if that were to happen. Conversely, Ryan Pace would have to be the hottest GM candidate in the world.
  5. The Hawks have definitely been better since Colliton was fired. They were 1-9-2 with him, and 20-20-6 without him. Though even if you extrapolated that 20-20-6 pace over a full season, the Hawks would still be in 7th place in the Central which is exactly where they are now. But obviously the new coach (I don't even remember his name, I've tuned the Blackhawks out for....reasons) has been dealt a horsefeathers Stan Bowman roster and has legitimately overseen a pretty nice improvement. He seems fine to continue as head coach, especially since Davidson came out and admitted the Hawks are in a rebuild. Derek King. He would actually be reasonable option for a rebuilding team, but probably won't be the guy who leads the next playoff contender. He's like a Dennis Savard, or Ricky Renteria, overseeing a team on the rise but replaced by established quality coaches when the team was ready to actually perform. I could see him keeping the team respectable for the next two seasons and then he's gone in 2024/2025 season. I just think it's really a tough sell to essentially run it all back with the same people that contributed to this team being where it is stuck now.
  6. Since the last time we talked the Blackhawks went with the internal hire in Davidson, who has now brought back one of his colleagues that left the organization when Bowman demoted him from asst GM. He went to seattle for their first year. One would think they won’t be keeping the internal candidate as head coach, but he’s overseen a little resurgence, including a blowout win over the duck last night with Strome having a hat trick and Kane getting a career high 6 points.
  7. I've said this before but the salary cap is an absolute joke and needs to be fixed. If you don't want a salary cap then fine get rid of it. But you have teams like the Saints that are going to defer their contracts until an asteroid hits the earth and destroys all life on the planet. Whats the point if you can just continue to circumvent the cap? The point of the cap is to make sure the player share of revenue is hit. It's really not about competetive balance or whatever. Some teams are eventually gonna be takers and others not, and they'll reallocate the bucket. The point of the cap is to suppress spending. The ability to maneuver around it is just a mechanism to allow the team that want to win to keep their most popular players and it does not need to be fixed. We don't need added hurdles to owners spending.
  8. every time I see this as the catch all thread title for nfl stuff now: It jumped the derwood, but that's different.
  9. Will flexing across days cause more of a logistical headache than its worth? If not I would guarantee them at least the 2nd best matchup when the TV schedule is calculated. The overall matchups on MNF generally have been trash. good because prime time football is trash. Save the good games for the good time slots at noon on Sunday
  10. is it possible to short Patrick Mahomes stock?
  11. I agree on Pace. I think he'll get a role as like an AGM or Scouting Director or something like that, and probably be pretty successful. Nagy though? I think he's gonna have to drop down to college, and not a good one. Most failed head coaches were highly thought of coordinators, and can just slide back into that role. But after the last 2-3 years, who in their right mind would give Nagy an OC job? Andy Reid.
  12. Looks like Mitch will have a nice landing spot next season. I dont' see Mitch signing anywhere without a starting opportunity. The league has seen evidence that Nagy was not QB friendly. Couple that with Mitch's athleticism and renewed confidence in himself (also from Bills staff) and I think he won't settle for a back up job. Matt Ryan is still in ATL right? Probably not for long. Mitch could probably hold out for a starter's gig, but I really doubt anybody hands him the keys unopposed. Filling in for a team in transition is Mitch's best option and Atlanta should be in transition.
  13. Looks like Mitch will have a nice landing spot next season.
  14. Toews back on IR and Blackhawks recall Reichel for the 2nd time.
  15. You're also not already a couple of dozen times over millionaire, I assume. Context is everything. Order of magnitude difference. My comment stands I'm all for players taking the highest offer but this isn't choosing between an offer from LA and NY.
  16. Deciding correctly on Grant, O'Donnell, and Scales will have more of an impact on ST than the coach. I'd probably look for a new punter. O'Donnell isn't special. If he stays on cheap 1 year deals, then whatever but new blood would be nice. I'd definitely look for a new long snapper. Scales kinda sucks and had some iffy snaps last year. I'd probably keep Grant, moreso for his speed and gadget play ability than returning. Bears have no shortage of return guys (Herbert, Newsome, healthy Cohen), they don't have much speed or WR help. 17. Are you referring to Pat Hughes? He'd be awful on tv. And he'd spend the entire broadcast hawking one of this scam side projects.
  18. US and Canada mens' hockey teams were both eliminated. The Womens' teams face off for gold tonight. It's usually a good matchup. US dominated play but still lost last time.
  19. Yeah, that offensive staff is kind of interesting. The OC, QB and TE coaches are each very young and inexperienced. The WR/PGC is very experienced, and the OL coach has a decent amount of experience, but a mixed bag of a resume. I am going to guess they will lean toward an experienced voice as RB coach, but I have no idea if there's been any talks about specific people. The other thing is there hasn't been a lot of title inflation. No assistant head coach, no CoCoordinators. The one example is Tolbert's duel roles. It will also be interesting if they add a name in the summer like when Nagy brought in Tom Herman. He had Childress as a consultant as well from the start, but we haven't really heard of anybody filling that type of role with this staff, yet. So they hired another 50-something with 25 years experience at the RB coach spot. David Walker, 7 years in NFL as RB coach and time at Pitt with Getsy. There's a gap on his resume since 2018, so, what's up with that?
