    Colorado and Carolina played as the Nordiques and Whalers last night, in full retro jerseys and score bugs referring to those old teams. It was a little confusing at time to watch as even the announcers called those teams by their former names throughout the contest. It would be cool if the whale still existed

    A year ago this team isn’t winning games like that, outplayed by superior opponents. Failing to capitalize on a 5 on 3 and a double minor, Bedard bloodied and held off the scoresheet. earlier this week I mentioned the hawks were sitting in the top wild card spot but had played more games than all of the better teams right below them. They are still very likely to drift away from this top spot, but there is currently nobody within 2 points of them that has played fewer games. But they are only one of 6 teams in the west with positive goal differential. These guy are talented enough to make things interesting for a couple wannabe contenders that may start feeling desperate as the holidays approach.

    Looks like Chicago is going 11/7 avain tonight in Tampa, and rumor has it Lukas Reichel will be playing on the top line with CB and TB. But Connor will also get a lot of time with Donato and Greene as the 10th and 11th forwards that aren’t part of a complete line. Foligno is back and centering third line while Dickinson is out with an injury and Burakosvsky hadababyitsagirl. Is this a showcase game for Reichel’s trade value? One time Blackhawks prospect that never was will be debuting for Tampa after he rejected Chicago last spring. Tampa is obviously the better NHL team but the much weaker farm system gives him a better shot at climbing the ladder.

    That would entail half the Forte era, all of Howard and Montgomery (not to mention Fields) I guess 3 of the top ten in that isn’t that big of a deal. I’m sure none of them occurred in 2024, 2023, 2022. The bears leading rusher eclipsed 1,000 yards in maybe half the past 12 seasons.

    Nah, you can always just pick up the 5th year option. it has a lot more to do with coach/gm job security than contracts.

    They may skip right by it, god willing, but the most boring part of the rebuild is the part that Detroit and Buffalo have been stuck in, perpetually too good for top picks and not good enough for playoffs. Or an Ottawa/Philly/Vancouver type that makes it once this decade and misses the rest of the time. the quantity of quality they have at least makes it seem like they can get to the devils level soon, regularly in the hunt even if they have an off year.

    I don’t think Frondell is expected to join the team after a full final season in Europe.

    It’s not just who you play but when you play them. The Ravens lost a classic in week 1 despite putting up 40 points and leading by 15 in the 4th. They blew out the Browns in week 2 and lost another shootout in week 3 against Detroit. The wheels came off in week 4 in KC, which happens to the best of them and Lamar didn’t play in back to back multi score losses before the bye week. But Lamar is back now and Baltimore is coming off a bye. Presumably they will be healthy and desperate for a win to keep their playoff/division hopes alive. The Ravens still have two against Pittsburgh and two against Cincy and have to think of themselves as legit contenders. At their best they are favorites in most of their remaining games. the Bears think of themselves as playoff hopefuls. If they pull off this road upset then people will begin to think they may actually be legit. At the bare minimum they can be a tough out and somebody that’s gonna spoil other hopefuls’ seasons.

    Right now they are in, but they’ve played more games than anybody else in the west. And the teams they are ahead of are all teams that are very likely to overtake them. They only play one game this week, at Tampa. Then host LA next Sunday. They play 15 games in about 30 days leading up to American Thanksgiving and that is when playoff pictures start to set. if they come out of the early November Pacific Northwest trip with ~3 points then maybe they have a chance but that could be a killer week for a young team

    Bears are bottom half in league for red zone efficiency, the top of that half but still below the mean. They are top ten in field goal attempts made. they may be trending in right direction and hopefully by next season they are a drive finishing machine but they are not close

    Every story about him talks about how he is the most accurate kicker in Bears history but he doesn’t have the leg strength to attempt the longest kicks.
