  1. Well, he didnt openly come out and say it, but comparing himself to "Wild Thing" Ricky Vaughn definitely hints at that being what he meant. So he was in prison?
  2. I hope they're not buying them for Reed Johnson. No, but there's more than a little excitement about bringing him back for some reason.
  3. She's just a gunslinger http://cache.gawkerassets.com/assets/images/7/2011/01/thumb160x_13831137_bg3.jpg
  4. This doesn't look anything like that. They just signed their preferred backup catcher.
  5. Garza is far from a "ho-hum" pitcher. If being named an ALCS MVP and tossing a no-hitter before he hits his prime is boring in your book, man I'd like to learn what a good player does. Pena isn't chopped liver either... Pena sucked last year and has a mediocre career for a 1B. Garza is good, but what I meant was a ho-hum name. People aren't buying tickets for Garza games.
  6. That was fun to watch. But is anybody getting a little weirded out by their insistence on showing that same father/son? duo on CSN every single goal?
  7. Considering they were the only two who glittered at all it would be very difficult to pretend he was talking about somebody else.
  8. What about Coolianose?
  9. Just saw headline on Tribune about "fan favorite Reed Johnson returning" and it dawned on me that this is some sort of PR move more than baseball. Every year they have to drum up interest around the convention and prior to ticket sales. This year they weren't able to go out and get any big names and the biggest trade they made involved giving up a lot of talent for a ho-hum guy who isn't going to sell tickets. They sign Wood, bring back Reed Johnson, resign Koyie Hill (who a lot of people like for some reason) all in time for the convention.
  10. I'd prefer Jamaal Charles, but sure.
  11. What is Stanford doing with their position? Any chance somebody like Mike Martz shows up on a college head coaching radar? Offensive gurus seem to be all the rage in college. NFL coordinators with failed stints as head coaches tend to be strong candidates for college positions, and Martz does have a lot of Pac-10/California ties.
  12. Yeah, me too. I'd really like Cutler to have a game like the 2nd Vikes game or the Jets game. I'm not asking for 81% completion like the Detroit game or 4/0 TD/INT ratio like Philly. But 55-60% completion, 22-27 attempts, 190-220 yards, a couple TDs and no more than 1 INT. I won't have very much confidence in beating GB/Atl if Cutler doesn't have a QB rating over 80. I'd like to see 60% be the floor.
  13. It was internet porn.
  14. Next you'll tell me that wearing my lucky jersey doesn't have an affect either. Not if you turn the channel.
  15. Technically it could be a push at 10.
  16. Hey, let's stop with the offseason talk. Bears need to beat Seattle and I think they will, and cover the spread. Chicago is 9-6-1 AGS, Seattle is 8-9. Chicago is 5-3 AGS at home, Seattle is 2-6 AGS on the road.
  17. Brandon Jacobs is a FA. Could be a good pair with Forte...if you're ok with dealing with the personality. I'd much rather pair Forte with a more dynamic runner than a bruiser. And I'd rather keep my RBs young than get well worn free agents. Jacobs has almost twice as many carries as Thomas Jones had when they signed him.
  18. I would guess this would be a standard Hendry/Veteran minor league contract where they will grant the players release by a certain date if he's not on the big club.
  19. So that last spot on the roster will be between Perez, Ramirez and Johnson?
  20. He's the NY governor?
  21. I'm pretty sure this is the case. Really? If you agree to terms with an arb eligible player without going to arbitration how can you just void that? Probably doesn't matter either way as this organization clearly values the guy.
  22. Yeah, pretty much what all the "personal services" talk was eluding to.
  23. He's had similar interviews. Too bad he wasn't any good.
  24. Yeah, I want a true change of pace guy or track star type. There's no point in having three of the same type of non-dynamic RB.
  25. Well, if they do that without signing him to an extension, so be it. Using resources in back to back years on the same position doesn't bother me if it means improving the spot in a cost effective manner. Taylor is an expensive and bad backup running back. Take any street free agent and get the same thing. He's getting every chance to earn his contract this year, but that doesn't tell me they will just bring him back because he's more experienced than Bell.
