  1. Koyie Hill is the king of the incredulous shoulder shrug after a guy slides past him at home.
  2. http://twitter.com/#!/helenenothelen/status/86475028895514626 Colin Fraser will be out for 4 months. Kings got him in Smyth trade and they are not happy.
  3. http://blogs.dailyherald.com/node/5940 From Bruce Miles: “I think it would have to be great for both,” he said, referring to himself and the Cubs. “Obviously, Sarah and I will talk about it. We have a little bit. It would have to be ideal for both. It would have to be something that is definitely going to help this organization down the road and something that’s going to fit for us, which is, right now, here. I know the talk’s going to come. I’ve already been hearing it. So we can address it now. I doubt it. We’re committed here. We’ve got an event in September. So I’ll just leave it at that. I don’t see it. I don’t see it happening.”
  4. I was talking with a colleague when the TV suddenly turned to WGN at 2:00. Forgot I set a reminder earlier today. Oops.
  5. I'm in it for the lightning strikes and sports bras.
  6. Doesn't mean we have to give up actual talent for him. He's more of the type of guy they could use than the type of guy they need. They actually need a hell of a lot more than him.
  7. But Sharapova is in it, so it is. Only reason to watch tennis, imo. Especially after that one girl got rid of her boobs.
  8. Given Wirtz's willingness to spend big time in recent years, including actual payroll that is well above the salary cap, I wonder if we're poised for a couple years of significant underspending. He has to figure there's fairly decent goodwill built up with the Cup. He's got all his stars in place and the team should at least by competitive going forward.
  9. But Sharapova is in it, so it is.
  10. Preferably the latter, if he had any pride.
  11. That was fun. Win 10 more in a row and we'll only be 5 games under .500.
  12. Hendry wants to keep the guys who can help him in 2012. What's wrong with that? Two things: He's a horrible judge of talent who has no idea who can and cannot help him in 2012. He shouldn't be here in 2012.
  13. Who is "everyone"? Marlon Byrd and Kerry Wood? If Hendry is waiting for them to turn the team around, he is even dumber than I thought. That's the beauty of it, there's always somebody to wait on.
  14. Yeah, he's got to hope Ricketts is stupid enough to think the injuries were the problem and that the team can play over .500 the rest of the way, so he can keep his job the same way Quade got his job.
  15. Fukudome or Aramis Ramirez could be fantastic fits for Philly.
  16. Bruce Miles isn't confirmation enough? http://blogs.dailyherald.com/node/5937
  17. Breathe through your eyelids. http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-5437rLQmJeo/TecLp4LVV7I/AAAAAAAAAsc/qDe7Bjz__BA/s1600/nuke.jpg
  18. Probably because the inexplicable number of page views coming from non-residents allow the paper's ad revenue to finance the entire town's budget.
  19. ZiPS must not have thought much of Cashner/Wells/Garza if they expected them to put a ~7.00 ERA in limited innings during their missed starts. I think the point is more that they have been so freaking bad that even having those guys miss no time doesn't make up the difference. Plus, a lot of other teams have missed a lot more, and better, players. ZIPS has to be kidding. The injuries to Wells, Cashner, Byrd, Wood, etc. haven't cost this team some wins??????????? Especially when they have been replaced by the likes of Davis, Lopez, Coleman, Campana, etc. Nobody is saying that it would have made the 2011 Cubs into contenders, but I would think the regulars would have accounted for 4 or 5 more wins at this point. The Cubs are not the only team who have missed guys. Much better players from around the league have missed considerable time.
